Where are our Memphis folks at? Here's a great opportunity to pile on Nashville in a way that's usually reserved for our neighbors to the west. And, in fact it is completely and totally deserved. Whereas Memphis can claim several redeeming qualities, I can't think of a single one for Antioch. Last person out of Antioch please turn out the lights.5 points

You may have already thought of this but it looks like you were set up to fall. Anti hunters or some one wants your spot. I have seen stand suports cut nearly in two knowing they would be used early before daylight. Take care out there. Joe W.4 points

So y'all know, the LGS I got it from (I've done a lot of business there) "Out the Door" with my LE discount, TICS, Tax and a box of ammo was $625 I don't feel I could have done better. Thanks for all the info, and to OS for sending me that direction! Dave3 points

Say it like it is, some states just blatantly and arrogantly betray the Constitution, ignore the very ideals America was built on. Most of these states were the first states to defy and rebel against the crown of England, the very first states to become the United States of America. Now these states that were governed once by patriots are now governed by traitors. Strong words? Not at all, it's the truth, it's time to start calling them what they are. What else would you call leaders who would dispose of the very document they swore an oath to follow and defend, totally ignore the very rights of the citizens this document affirmed and guaranteed just to write their own authoritarian laws to reflect their Un-American socialist ideals. Traitors, nothing more, nothing less.3 points

News quote:::: Fitzpatrick was arrested in May of 2013 by Columbia police for the aggravated robbery of a Cash Express store. According to Maury County Juvenile Court records, Fitzpatrick was found guilty of that charge. If this little fat SOB was found guilty of Felony Armed Robbery in 2013 why is he not in PRISON..........     :rant:2 points

Rifles are a different category, light and fast is relative at handgun velocities much like cars using HP to weight ratio we could do the same with bullets and lumping rifles in with handguns would be something like lumping in an ENZO Ferrari with a VW beetle, a Yugo, and a Dodge Omni they would all hurt if they ran into you at their "normal operating speed" but the splat from the Enzo ..... all effective enough to splatter a human It sucks we even as a species have to think about shot placement on a fellow human who has decided that visiting violence on us is somehow a"normal acceptable" practice :( But I am glad we have tools that if used properly will modify that behavior if it comes right down to it. Practice with your chosen pistol/ammo/holster setup, study your anatomy, study your situational awareness, have a plan with your loved ones so if they are nearby they know what they should/shouldn't do and light a candle that that time never comes that you need to use this knowledge, knowing that if you do you have done all you can to have a good outcome to an uncertain and unpredictable situation. I hope no one who reads this ever has to go to that dark place, some have peered through the door and some have walked in and came back, it isn't something that should be on your vacation list.2 points

+1. Some theaters across the country actually tried that a few years ago. It didn't last long. My local theater, which has finally gone digital, will actually stop the movie & put a "turn off you cell phones" message on the screen for 30 seconds if they see someone using one during the movie. If that doesn't work they come in & escort the cell phone user out of the theater. I've seen them do both at least once.2 points

I'm in the : placement, placement, placement with a proven reliable round category. The only "exotic" round wound I've seen was many years ago when Glaser Safety rounds came out...old flat point style in .38 or .357...not really sure. But the guy that was shot had a light jacket on, the shot was by an Officer at close range into the chest. The very superficial surface wound was darn nasty, the ribs were visible, but there wasn't any penetration into the chest cavity. Did it stop the aggressive action towards the officer? Yep...but only because the aggressor chose to stop. I stay with traditional rounds, like Gold Dot. Accurate shot placement into the correct place with deep enough penetration seems the best bet for me. No dissing your post HV, just an observation and an opinion. :2cents:2 points

I really don't have the words to express how I feel about this. It's just impossible to convey the feelings of disgust for such scum as walking meat-sacks like this are. I will refuse to use the term people/person, because that imbodies them with a form of reasoning and humanity they lack. At best...may they burn in Hell.2 points

We need to have a serious discussion in the country... if you are convicted of a felony-level violent crime as a juvenile, you should be tried as an adult and locked up. Period. Where you go doesn't matter - so long as you're not on the street. But I'm speechless when trying to rationalize why this was done in the juvenile system at age ~16. Speeding tickets? Sure, went through "juvenile court" for it myself at 16. Petty theft or truancy? Sure. Armed robbery? You're well beyond "juvenile" acts. This shouldn't have happened because the perp should not have been free to begin with. We have a new DA since Bottoms retired. He better do his job correctly!!1 point

Just finished an 80 hour week and got the seventh day as a "standby". I also already have a three hour round trip commute and get up an hour before I leave. If I can do it, anyone can. Just enjoy the OT while it lasts. Good jobs are hard to come by, and the extra cash never hurts either. Good luck in the weeks to come.1 point

Haha! The way some of you folks talk about Antioch, I can't imagine what would happen if you were dropped in Compton, Liberty City, the Bronx, Detroit, south Boston, or some Chicago sewer. :-D1 point

So, it's been a while since my original post, so I thought I'd give an update. I took the handguard off, as well as the gas block and tube. I cleaned everything and re-assembled. The first time I took it to the range a couple of weeks ago following this, I fired about 70 rounds, and had one FTE and resulting jam. Today, I took it out, uncleaned from the last trip, and put 80 rounds of AE brass .223 through it without a single hiccup. I guess that the gas system was the culprit in my initial failure- I'm a bit confused why it would have had a FTE on the first trip after reassembly though. Maybe just an anomaly- some weird ammo statistical dud- who knows. Since the original post, I've gotten Go / No Go gauges, and will check that. Otherwise, I think it will be an issue of checking the low-pro gas block for tightness from time to time. If I have anything incredibly useful to add to the thread as I go along< I'll add to the post. Thanks all!1 point

a lot of folks never went home after stepping in front of a .45 or 9mm round nose / ball round not that I'd volunteer to step in front of any round but as far as "proven" performance well, kinda hard to stack up against over lets say......500 years. Hollow points etc. are nice but if you are relying on expansion in a variable medium target to get the job done in the event you ever need to stop someone/something well maybe a lottery ticket might be a surer bet. like real estate it comes down to location, location location most projectiles travel plenty fast enough to stop someone/something if it is hit properly I will give you that a bigger round has more room for error though, I left the caliber/gun argument years ago Always believed it better to save money and invest time and effort in anatomy lessons, situational awareness and marksmanship practice John1 point

I've got a full frame sig 1911 and the sig carry. No issues. I polish the feed ramp on every 1911 I've had or have, and have done so on these.sig finishes are durable. As long as u clean and don't let them stay filthy for a year you're gtg.1 point

I think the only way to get a good deal on guns at a pawn shop is if you are a regular. A buddy of mines dad goes on a route once a week to multiple stores. They know him well and he has found some really great buys. He is looking for more collectible stuff most of the time. I think if you are Joe Schmoe just stopping in they probably aren't looking to deal as much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Shoot the one you can... 1. Be accurate with 2. Operate the platform (revolver vs. semi) 3. Can best afford I enjoy shooting my dad's .357 magnum revolver, both with .38 special and full power magnum loads. But I would never carry one. I'm too used to the semi-auto manual of arms and the capacity difference. I also believe that the target ammo is a better cost in 9mm and even .45 ACP; there is also a very broad selection of self-defense loads available in 9mm/.45 ACP. My personal choice between them is 9mm. But as with almost anything else, it's a personal choice and one that should be made after sampling what both platforms/rounds have to offer.1 point

As far back as '04, I was amazed at the number of Japanese that flew in to the Bardstown Bourbon Festival! No telling the Japan market growth in the last 10 years! On that trip we toured the Buffalo Trace distillery. Our tour guide slipped us a couple of "Japanese Market Only" gold plated Blanton's stoppers. They must pay a heck of a premium to merit such fancy Blanton's stoppers! The value of gold since then may have stopped this Japan perk? Japan stopper on the right. Sure enjoy your posts Mike.357!1 point
