1. I'd try calling around to a few of the vendors here first and see how close they can get to the online price. Buy through them and you may not be in the position of having to find a new favorite shop again. $0.02

 2. I didn't see anything I wanted to shoot, but look what my old man had with him when he stopped by the house this morning! Good rack, but it's positively the largest, fattest Tennessee whitetail I've ever seen in person. I had no means to weigh it, but I feel certain it was very close to 200lbs dressed.

 3. A couple months ago I bought a Sig 1911-22, fun little gun. I really like how it handled, I have not handled a 1911 since the ARMY changed to 9mm. I never liked the issued 1911 pistols because I never had one that was worth a damn. Well I handled a Ruger SR1911 CMD and it just felt so good that I got it, then a Taurus PT1911. The Taurus was a basic model but I then handled a Kimber Custom II, well ended up trading the Taurus in on the Kimber. I am usually a Glock guy but since proving up the Ruger and Kimber for carry I have been carrying and shooting them. I am in store for more 1911 style pistols? Jeez I hope so. Never thought I would go 1911.

 8. No apologies necessary,   This thread is all about the design of the knife, Music man i thank you and everyone else for your input on this!     I have it down now and will talk with Dave about it tomorrow, When the price is firmly set I will start an official thread,      I have asked for this knife, Runt 4, Choice of Tanto or Regular blade, Mosiac Push Button, Burl wood Maple Inserts, the Logo will not be on these due to the limited real estate offered on the knife, However the serial number will read TGO# I have also asked if the Blades can be two tone, I think these knives will look great, it boils down to final pricing which I should have tomorrow,      Again thank you all for your input!!!

 9. Sorry, I'm not TRYING to be a pain in the rumpus. I've never met Willis personally yet, but I figured as much of a knife lover as he is, he'd enjoy some other ideas and discussion about hashing out details on a custom run. I have a serious affliction for some other hobbies as well... heck, yesterday I spent almost two hours talking guns, reloading, cars, and guitars with a complete stranger while I was at A&H Reloading downtown. We shared all the things we wish Gibson would do properly with the Les Paul for almost half an hour alone. (Shout out to GlockDad23 if you're reading this!) Towards the tail end of the conversation we figured out we were fellow TGOers. My understanding was that this thread was about fleshing out design details for the next ProTech run. I surely hope I haven't been negative, as that is not my feeling or intent at all. I love these things! I do apologize though, I have very specific likes and dislikes and if I have the opportunity to voice them before a design is specified, I share them. My Momma always taught me to be clear and forthright when I wanted something. There's no harm in asking. She also taught me that most of the time the answer will be "No" and I'm OK with that, too. I hope that my comments/suggestions have not detracted from Willis' work on this. I think he knows (because I've told him at least a dozen times) that I really do appreciate all the work he's done for us in these knife buys, and I love the results.

 11. That's pretty cool! The main thing I wanted was the cotton and as cheap as those were I went ahead and ordered it. I won't ever have a use for a single point sling. The main reason I want the GI style is so I can unclip it easily and do the "arm rap" technique for stability. Once I learn to do it that is haha.

 12. This is my favorite gun, at least for now. I really like how it shoots, handles and conceals. And with the 7.62x39 caliber it is more than adequate for self defense, even out of its 7.5" barrel. This setup is not so much just for the bedroom but this is something that gets used for our bedroom, our home as well as in our vehicle when we are away from home. In the past I have also used various shotguns, various rifles and definitely some pistols but I have settled into this being the "forever" gun used in the home and away from the home. And because it is a "handgun" I can legally carry it anywhere I can legally carry my sidearm. It will not replace my sidearm but will be used in conjunction with my sidearm when I can. At home it is not stored in the bag but laying on top of the bag. My original bag was your typical small tactical bag that would look out of place in most places I would be so the search was on for a less obvious bag. Thae tactical bag also precluded the use of 30 round magazines. So after a few suggestions from friends, and urging from my wife, I decided to try the California Pak Ransom 18 inch available from Amazon. It is perfect, with a capital P, for this setup. It allows a 30 round magazine to be in the gun, which the previous bag did not, and has plenty of storage for other items I would need like a knife, flash light, first aid supplies and the few other items I feel are necessary for a bag I am using to get home or deal with immmediate threats. I can easily reach in the bag and either load or unload the weapon without actually removing the gun from the bag. Here is the inconspicuous looking bag closed. And how the inside looks with the gun, and other items, stored inside. And finally, the opened bag with the deployed "handgun" placed on top. And a picture of the gun by itself. The AK itself is nothing more than a standard Mini Draco with a 7.5" barrel. It uses standard AK muzzle devices and other than the forearm everything else is pretty much standard AK. I had originally bought a M92 PAP but decided against it because it was too long for most bags and it was HEAVY, weighing over 9 pounds loaded with a 30 round magazine. By comparison the Mini Draco weighs less than 8.5 pounds with the Sig Brace, folding mechanism and 30 roudn magazine loaded with a mix of 123 grain and 154 grain bullets. I drilled and tapped the rear of the receiver (yes it is extremely hard) for the 10-32 screws to attach the Stormwerkz hinge, the best IMHO and definitely better than ACE hinges. On the other side of the hinge I attached a pig nose adapter to allow me to use the extended buffer tube with an original Sig Brace. I swapped in a Hogue over molded pistol grip and added a 550 cord loop for a rear sling point. I replaced the standard 500 meter rear sight with an RPK style rear sight that has adjustments for wind. I did this so I can center the front sight because I believe that the front sight ears also help to get on target faster so when the front sight post is not in the center of the sings I think it can affect sight picture under stress. I replaced the factory single point trigger with a double hook trigger. The second hook was modified to turn it into an over travel stop. This significantly reduces the over travel of the factory AK trigger which is probably the single worst part of the AK platform. I also replaced the factory twisted hammer/trigger spring with a Damage Industries spring not because the factory unit is bad but because I wanted something of known quality. I replaced the factory birdcage flash hider with standard slant brake that I shortened. It looks like a thread protector but because it still has the internal bump in place it works like an unmodified slant brake but is 1/2" shorter. The forearm is from a Saiga rifle, not a shotgun, that I chopped down to fit the Mini Draco. This one is the third version. I tried it with a rail and Magpul AFG but I felt it just added weight and complexity that it does not need. I took a 10-32 screw and sharpened it, then screwed it into the hole the forearm screw goes into with the point out. I then installed the rear of the forearm then pressed the front of the forearm onto the sharpened screw. This gave me the exact place to drill the clearance hole for the 10-32 sling swivel. After sanding the front I used a Sharpie to match the rest of the forearm.

 14. Good thing she didn’t let the dog out. My Doberman got skunked one night; it was terrible. My friend asks why I didn’t shoot it; I told him the only rifle I had quick access to was .308. He said well, they won’t autopsy it. I said no, but my luck a cop would be driving by. Now I have both a .22 and an air rifle on standby. I also have two quarts of hydrogen peroxide, a big box of baking soda and Dawn dish washing liquid.

 16. We have about 100 Glock .40s in our inventory (G22, G23, and G27). The Dept typically shoots/quals 5-6 times a year (this doesn't include officers shooting on personal time). Some of them are over 15 years old. I'm the armorer for them.   Not one Kaboom since they were adopted in the mid-90s.   Current issue duty round is the Federal 180gr HST (Speer 180gr Gold Dot is also authorized). Practice ammo is 180gr Blazer, American Eagle, or Lawman (mostly Blazer).

 20. The MCTS umbrella must be rather large to cover Gallatin Gun Club @ the TVA range to make it indoor? Or does someone have an indoor range in Gallatin to be used for the matches? I to am at a lost on where this would be played at.

 21. Yeah they're really, really slow to fulfill orders.  When I ordered a set it took two months to arrive despite their "2-3 week lead time."  Mike Honda pushing the anti-body armor bill I'm sure didn't help your order either.

 23. That really sucks, Dave! I can't imagine getting together a group of 15 to hunt deer.... especially for a morning hunt where it's like cockroaches scattering and waiting for first light to figure out if more than one of you are in the same damned tree! You just can't fix stupid... How close to the parking area were you?

 24. "go through all 7 or 8 rounds"?    Let me know how many rounds you have left after a 3 second firefight.   The only reason there's only 13 rounds is because anything more gets into full size & impractical carry weapons.

 27. I'm about the .458 Socom ALL day long for hogs! It is absolutely the Hammer Of Thor! I find it to be a soft shooter for its ballistics and stopping power, and there is a lot of reload options up to 700 grain bullets!!!!!!!!!!!! I shoot 325 grain Hornadys and it just plain works. Mine is a RRA.

 28. I've honestly not done any research into the information this guy has shared in regard to sensitive or classified information, so I can't speak to that. What I do know is that he sucks and should quit his whining and self aggrandizing. He is no more significant that anyone else who threw a uniform on and put themselves in harms way for this country. I'm tired of my fellow vets seeking the limelight and wanting validation for something the volunteered to do. It lacks honor and shames us. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

 30. I just got my new truck Friday morning when I got in off the road. Haven't even driven it yet. Leave out tomorrow night for Ohio. It's a '15 Pete 587. I love that new smell. Maybe we will meet up on the road one day. From Thanksgiving to Christmas I run a dedicated rout from FedEx in Nashville to the WalMart DC in Hopkinsville. It's only about a 100 mile round trip. Do 4-5 a day.

 31. In my youth I lived out of a tiny GMC cracker box cab over for about 15 months. I was a mover though, so always had space to keep brunt of my stuff in trailer. Sleeping right over the engine. Once went 48 days in the winter without ever cutting the engine off, too cold to be sure could get it restarted. Some of the best zzzs I ever got, laying over that deep rumbling vibration each night, was like being back in a living womb. :) - OS

 33. Look for a bullet that will expand.  I have never heard of a 150 or 170 gr. flat point  bullet "tumbling" from a 1:12" barreled Winchester m-94.  "tumbling" is an indication of ballistic instability from too short or long a bullet for the barrel twist.  I want a bullet that will go straight though from point of impact expanding along the way.  That way I can pick the organs/bones I want to destroy to bring down a game animal.   Round pure lead balls going 500 fps killed about half the deer killed in this country since white people began hunting deer.   "tumble" is only sought after when you cannot use a hollow point or expanding bullet on a human target, like the 5.56 from an M-4.

 35. It is slow, but that doesn't bother me because they pay me more to go slow. The sleeper is small, but it is better than it looks from the picture. The passenger seat has been removed and that is where my fridge and microwave are going to go. It also has window curtains, so that helps make the space feel bigger. Hell, I've lived in apartments that honestly weren't much bigger than this truck. Not even kidding. I think I'll do ok out of this space.

 37. I found hunting out in Tx with wide open range. If you know you hit them and they get up and run off. Don't start tracking for at least an hour if daylight permits. They will usually lay down and bleed out if you don't press them. I hate losing a deer more than missing. JTM Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

 47. I appreciate it but I do not do anything more than anyone else can. The reason why most people do not like to try something new is because a fear of failure. I embrace failure because I learn from every mistake and hopefully I never repeat a mistake more than 2-3 times. I guarantee the vast majority of the people on this board can do what I have done if they would just try. I do not believe I am more skilled than anyone else but I will say I do not have a fear of failure. As long as I can replace the part if I screw it up I will try and, yes, I have screwed up a lot of stuff along the way but with every screw up I learned something.
