Here is a study I've had for some time and it goes into even more of the terrible things our Lord suffered through even beyond the physical pain as all of the sins of mankind was poured out upon Him as he suffered upon the cross. We will never know the extent of suffering he endured in our stead and the whole world: Why Did Jesus Cry, "My God, My God, Why Have You Forsaken Me?" Matthew 27 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?” And some of those who were standing there, when they heard it, began saying, “This man is calling for Elijah.” (27:46–47) A second miracle occurred at about the ninth hour, or three o’clock in the afternoon, through an inexplicable event that might be called sovereign departure, as somehow God was separated from God. At that time Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” As Matthew explains, the Hebrew Eli (Mark uses the Aramaic form, “Eloi,” 15:34) means, My God, and lama sabachthani means, Why hast Thou forsaken Me? Because Jesus was quoting the well-known Psalm 22, there could have been little doubt in the minds of those who were standing there as to what Jesus was saying. They had been taunting Him with His claim to be God’s Son (v. 43), and an appeal for divine help would have been expected. Their saying, “This man is calling for Elijah,” was not conjecture about what He said but was simply an extension of their cruel, cynical mockery. In this unique and strange miracle, Jesus was crying out in anguish because of the separation He now experienced from His heavenly Father for the first and only time in all of eternity. It is the only time of which we have record that Jesus did not address God as Father. Because the Son had taken sin upon Himself, the Father turned His back. That mystery is so great and imponderable that it is not surprising that Martin Luther is said to have gone into seclusion for a long time trying to understand it and came away as confused as when he began. In some way and by some means, in the secrets of divine sovereignty and omnipotence, the God-Man was separated from God for a brief time at Calvary, as the furious wrath of the Father was poured out on the sinless Son, who in matchless grace became sin for those who believe in Him. Habakkuk declared of God, “Thine eyes are too pure to approve evil, and Thou canst not look on wickedness with favor” (Hab. 1:13). God turned His back when Jesus was on the cross because He could not look upon sin, even-or perhaps especially-in His own Son. Just as Jesus loudly lamented, God the Father had indeed forsaken Him. Jesus did not die as a martyr to a righteous cause or simply as an innocent man wrongly accused and condemned. Nor, as some suggest, did He die as a heroic gesture against man’s inhumanity to man. The Father could have looked favorably on such selfless deaths as those. But because Jesus died as a substitute sacrifice for the sins of the world, the righteous heavenly Father had to judge Him fully according to that sin. The Father forsook the Son because the Son took upon Himself “our transgressions, … our iniquities” (Isa. 53:5). Jesus “was delivered up because of our transgression” (Rom. 4:25) and “died for our sins according to the Scriptures” (1 Cor. 15:3). He “who knew no sin [became] sin on our behalf” (2 Cor. 5:21) and became “a curse for us” (Gal. 3:13). “He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross” (1 Pet. 2:24), “died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust” (1 Pet. 3:18), and became “the propitiation for our sins” (1 John 4:10). Jesus Christ not only bore man’s sin but actually became sin on mares behalf, in order that those who believe in Him might be saved from the penalty of their sin. Jesus came to teach men perfectly about God and to be a perfect example of God’s holiness and righteousness. But, as He Himself declared, the supreme reason for His coming to earth was not to teach or to be an example but “to give His life a ransom for many” (Matt. 20:28). When Christ was forsaken by the Father, their separation was not one of nature, essence, or substance. Christ did not in any sense or degree cease to exist as God or as a member of the Trinity. He did not cease to be the Son, any more than a child who sins severely against his human father ceases to be his child. But Jesus did for a while cease to know the intimacy of fellowship with His heavenly Father, just as a disobedient child ceases for a while to have intimate, normal, loving fellowship with his human father. By the incarnation itself there already had been a partial separation. Because Jesus had been separated from His divine glory and from face-to-face communication with the Father, refusing to hold on to those divine privileges for His own sake (Phil 2:6), He prayed to the Father in the presence of His disciples, “Glorify Thou Me together with Thyself, Father, with the glory which I had with Thee before the world was” (John 17:5). At the cross His separation from the Father became immeasurably more profound than the humbling incarnation during the thirty-three years of His earthly life. As already mentioned, the mystery of that separation is far too deep even for the most mature believer to fathom. But God has revealed the basic truth of it for us to accept and to understand to the limit of our ability under the illumination of His Spirit. And nowhere in Scripture can we behold the reality of Jesus’ sacrificial death and the anguish of His separation from His Father more clearly and penetratingly than in His suffering on the cross because of sin. In the midst of being willingly engulfed in our sins and the sins of all men of all time, He writhed in anguish not from the lacerations on His back or the thorns that still pierced His head or the nails that held Him to the cross but from the incomparably painful loss of fellowship with His heavenly Father that His becoming sin for us had brought.4 points

Took my wife to Cumberland Falls, KY last night. We got to see the moon bow about 11 p.m. last night, probably about 100 other people had come out to see it. It was a perfectly clear night sky with allot of extra water going over the falls due to the recent rain. As we had been out int he dark for a couple hours, we had no problem seeing it, we could even see color around the edges instead of only the white light. It was a sight to see. However it takes a special camera to even consider getting a picture of it. This this morning we went back and saw a rainbow with the morning sun. No pictures of the moon bow, but plenty of the Rainbow and just the falls. http://vid904.photobucket.com/albums/ac244/vontar/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-04/VID_20150405_103430.mp42 points

http://gods411.blogspot.com/2013/04/how-jesus-dies-for-you.html?m=1 He suffered, died and was buried and on the third day He rose in fulfillment of the Scriptures! If you don't believe, it's still a horrific FYI. Happy Easter to all with my prayers you rejoice in the unconditional and un-earned love, mercy, grace and peace of God. My He touch your hearts and minds so you may know Him better.2 points

No, I wouldn't pay it but that doesn't make them criminals. It's a free market capitolist society we have here. The market dictates inventory prices. When people deviate from that and try to sell too high, they don't move product. If they're happy with slow sales for high margins, that's their business. They're certainly free to do so. Same goes for all the "gougers" in the second hand rim fire market. Everyone keeps attacking them but they're doing nothing wrong. If you don't like it, don't buy it. That's pretty simple. When we start telling people what they can and cannot sell their wares for, we may as well paint our red white and blue to red and call each other comrade. That's pure communism. Smart? No. Wrong? No.2 points

I had a fun afternoon! Went out mid day and setup on a wooded ridge where I know they like to roost. I set the decoys on the trail, and I called very little. I heard gobbles from 3 different directions on other ridges for a couple of hours but decided to stay put. About 30min before sunset, I had a conversation with some turkeys, lol. We went back and forth for about 20min, and I heard them getting closer. They sounded like walkers dragging their feet through the leaves, haha. I could see a couple of heads bobbing up the trail leading the flock. Hurry up!!! Don't they know it's almost end of legal shooting time? There must have been a dozen, but they were slooow. I didn't see any beards on the first two to arrive within shooting range, and then I made a rookie mistake. I shifted my weight and leaned to the side to get a better look down the trail. Nope! Lead hen busted me. Ahh, oh well. At least there is plenty of season left. I got my "SIT STILL" reminder early on in the season. had a blast working those turkeys, though. So much fun without even firing a shot! They just walked off and didn't seemed too spooked, so hopefully I can catch them there again.2 points

His suffering started in Gethsemane...he drank the cup of Wrath (3rd cup in the Passover seder) and then the Father started to pour out His Wrath (for mankind's sin) on him. That is why he prayed "If it be possible let this cup pass from me, but not my will but Thine be done". Yeshua took upon himself my sin and the summary punishment. He rose from the dead and redeemed me! Blessed be the Lord! To my brothers and sisters at TGO......rejoice and be glad....our Redeemer lives!2 points

I had a thought the other day. Progressive liberals seem to think, and constantly push, the notion that any criminal can buy a full-automatic rifle at any gun show with no background check. Yet if that was true, they should also be clamoring for increased school security in American to prevent the type of attack that happened last week at the Kenyan college. The logic follows that if any terrorist could get an AK-47, then it is only a matter of time before a school will be attacked, but they don't seem to be too concerned about that. They only want to keep lawful licensed carriers from bringing guns on school campuses. If true assault rifles were that easy to get, a truly concerned person would want to both remove the guns from future use while simultaneously preparing to face the current threat. Instead, they just use the concern for terrorism as a flimsy excuse to keep guns from everyone.1 point

I found this thread searching the XD. I am a 1911 fan and even splurged on a Kimber for carry. I have found that the thumb safety has walked off numerous times with an IWB. I don't bother too much with an OWB due to warm temps and covering up. I have a shoulder rig but haven't found that I'm not a huge fan. Because of the safety issue, I decided on a Glock and even choked down caliber to .40, reason being is someone at a gunshop asked me "isn't .40 enough" The Glock is great for what it's purpose for me is but I still like the 45. I had an XD tactical in .45 and man o man, this thing is awesome, never once had an issue firing it, probably have 1k rounds through it with various ammo. My contribution to this thread? I think the built in safeties of the strikers are ingenious (personally). How many times have you found yourself going to take a shot with something and found the safety on? I know I have and it is probably because I have the strikers in my life but if that one shot is the one that counts............................ I actually like the grip safety too, it keeps my grip discipline in check, never had an issue with it.1 point

I plan to watch the chapter of AD tonight on NBC but Yesterday I watched the Bible in full length as it was on the History Channel from beginning to end and ran about 11 hours. I learned a lot from that which I did not know even though I was watched it several times in my past. i was not aware the John wrote the entire Book of Revelations while on an island Roman Prison until it showed it right at the end last night. Many people say that the Bible is very confusing to read because it is written in Parables. It is not hard if you read it enough you will learn how to read one parable and be able to turn to the matching Parable and continue reading. There are a few quotes in the bible that makes all the sense any one needs in life if they will just live and believe in them............jmho1 point

Had a good opening morning trying to get a young boy his first turkey. Had a big longbeard come in and strut past the blind as close as 5 years at times, but the boy couldn't get the gun on him when he was far out enough to shoot. Still it was cool to experience it with him and his dad. This morning I wasn't sure I would make it out, but mustered the will on just a few hours sleep. Went solo this morning and set up in the woods close to where the birds had roosted the day before. Worked out perfect. I had two gobblers to my left and two to my right, about 100 years apart, me in the middle. At fly down they all come together in front of me but hung up about 80 yards out. Took me till 7:30 to get them in range. This one was the lead bird.1 point

Apparently the storms on Friday really separated and broke them up so they spent most of the day trying to find each other and regroup. I never saw a flock bigger than 3 all day. Did see 10 hens, 4 jakes and 9 deer. Took one shot at a larger / mature Jake but missed. Probably go back out tomorrow. Good start to the season considering how many turkey I saw. Hope everyone else did well.1 point

I am a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and have been from my teens. The pain our Lord suffered on that day was extreme and beyond measure. Even before He was crucified....read about scourging. It's a barbaric ritual and is designed to inflict as much pain as possible without killing the individual and makes oriental caning look like something from Mary Poppins.1 point

Somehow, I see it quite the opposite. I COULD argue (I won't though) that those who pay $200, submit fingerprints, photo and whatever else to the feds, ask permission of their local police chief and wait several months simply to ask permission to own an item that is Constitutionally protected are the ones voluntarily taking it in the arse. Perhaps the people who are putting what is essentially a stock on their pistols (and NOT the pansies writing a letter to some bureaucracy asking for their blessing, BTW) are basically raising a middle finger to an overgrown federal leviathon and saying "eff yoo". I know which ones I think are most likely to end up in a threesome with the two chicks. BTW, I know it was just a joke and I do not intend to offend anyone who owns a registered NFA weapon. (P.S. Was that first paragraph a great run-on sentence, or what?)1 point

I like that the new bond series isn't as (as OS said) comic-book like as the later movies. The earliest movies (esp. From Russia With Love) are much more like the current ones with actual plot twists, espionage, and changing alliances. I for one am glad Daniel Craig's Bond hasn't yet been seen fist fighting 200 guys with ray guns and helmets while simultaneously disarming a nuclear bomb on a conveyor belt on its way to a hyper-warp speed transport machine to send it to blow up Mt. Rushmore. Plus ill-tempered sea bass are trying to eat him. Craig makes for a good action star, and his style of playing his cards close makes for a good spy-thriller because the audience never really knows what the main character is thinking. Where he comes up short is the charm and personality. Connery got that part down in spades. Craig's Bond can get Pussy Galore because he'll jump through a plate glass window on the 32nd floor of a building, fight off 3 guards in an impromptu MMA cage match, and jump back out with her in his arms using a backpack glider, all without cracking a smile or grimacing in pain. Connery's Bond would knock on the door, claim to be from room service, knock out the 3 guards with sleeping darts from his watch, say "Well hello, Pussy" with a wry smile and off they'd go to her place.1 point

I think that Daniel Craig and Timothy Dalton were the most book accurate Bonds. Dalton has always been a favorite of mine. I love the Connery bond and even campy Roger Moore movies. Also, the musical score to OHMSS was John Barry's favorite even though it had an unknown actor at the time.1 point

Looks like Joe is still on his release an album every six months track. His Live tribute to Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf played at Red Rock Colorado just came out. It's a little bit of a different album for him. He relies on a full band to help him out. All the focus isn't on Joe, but it still sounds great, and has the signature Joe guitar playing and his vocals. https://youtu.be/wvOwOrBrxNI1 point

Bill passed as amended, moves to House Calendar for placement for floor vote. I'm guessing the Senate will await the House floor vote before taking up their own floor vote, so they can substitute and conform to this amended version. I'm still wagering that this, and any other 2A bills that make it out of the s**thole called the GA, will go to the Gov so late that he can veto them after the GA adjourns. Leadership hasn't enough CO Jones to call folks back to override, which provides everyone involved a nice little safe harbor: Gov can then play nice with the Chamber for his future ass-pirations, and the reps can go home to their low-info voters and proclaim that they supported/passed legislation, but it was the evil Gov's fault (who is no longer up for re-election).1 point

I won't degrade any Walmart employees for being employed there. They are at least willing to hold a job and work for a wage everyday. They are not freeloaders sitting home waiting for the mailman to bring them all the freebees the Feds pass out. Yea, maybe it is not a prestigious position and maybe the people may not all have a college degree but by gosh they do have a job and they do show up for work and for that I commend them. In all Honesty I think Walmart should provide those employees that have been there a year or more a better pay and incentive program and be glad they have some dedicated people................jmho1 point
