Horse pucky. We have grizzlies. Pure white ones. They hang out with the black cougars. I've seen them. Same conspiracy denies them. - OS4 points

So Friday's food sucks, their service is typically awful and they are very anti-gun. How do you boycott a place you already refuse to visit? I just don't get it. I was a restaurant manager for 3 different chains for a bit over 15 years. I did everything I could to get officers to eat there as often as possible. If their departments allowed it the food was always free. If they only allowed a discount then they always got as much as was allowed. And, if the department had a no discount policy (a few of the larger ones did) I would donate free food and/or gift cards to their fundraisers etc... Restaurants have an unfortunate tendency to get robbed. I wanted as many armed friendly faces around as possible. In the smaller towns in East Tn and East Tx that I spent a fair amount of time in it was very common for the officers to learn what time we closed out and come hang out in their cars while we made night deposits. The last company I worked for was primarily located in malls. During the Christmas season our staff would have to park a fair distance away. Several departments would offer to escort the employees to their cars as the wait staff in particular would often leave carrying a decent amount of cash. Did they do that because of a free burger? Of course not. They did it because they were professionals. Getting a discounted meal or a free cup of coffee on a cold wet night just made it easier for them to do so... Mark3 points

I tell you, it is getting to the point that every time I hear the oxymoronic (as well as simply moronic) phrase, "common sense gun laws" I want to vomit. See, common sense - real common sense - tells me that criminals do not follow laws. Common sense tells me that a guy that is going to walk into a school/church/restaurant/strip club or whatever and start killing people - often total strangers at that - and then eat his gun when the cops show up really doesn't give a tinker's damn about whether or not the gun he uses to do it was obtained legally. Likewise a person who robs a bank, stages an armed invasion of another person's home and so on. Common sense tells me that, ultimately, the only people whose behavior is changed by laws are the law abiding. So, therefore, claiming that more/stricter limitations on the right to own firearms will somehow cause criminals to suddenly obey the law defies common sense.2 points

ever since I found Freedom Munitions, I have completely given up buying ammo at a retail store. I have bought 9mm, and .380 from them. it functions great in my weapons, burns cleaner than several brands, availability almost always is a NON-issue and it is usually cheaper. don't really see a downside here. . .2 points

This is where I'm at. I don't think the resturant should ask them to leave, but what's good for the goose is good for the gander. Plenty of beat cops only do the bare minimum to qualify with a handgun, and I'm guessing for Parole and corrections officers it's not stressed anywhere near as much. So why does a person carrying a badge have a right to carry a firearm there, but I can't. I've done my time on the two way range and have plenty of time and training behind both a pistol and a long gun. I guess it's a pointless argument anyways, I'm not spending money anywhere that refuses my right to carry a firearm. Sent from behind the anvil2 points

Several people were looking at my Punisher TR4 and Godson yesterday. They were impressed by the workmanship of the Protech knives, as most of the knives they'd handled were gun show junk.2 points

I know someone who is a probation officer, and I think they typically wear those dressy tactical cargo pants with a polo that has their office label and logo on it. And they carry a sidearm. Pretty hard to not understand that they are some kind of law enforcement just at a quick glance. The part of the story that gets me is the social media outrage. In his job, he is not there to protect anyone. The pistol is for his protection due to the criminals he interacts with each day. He has no more firearm / safety training each year than I do. Why is everyone outraged that someone like him can't carry into the restaurant, but nobody outside of TGO could give a rat's ass about any one of us?2 points

We all knew a gun control plan from Hillary was coming, she just waited for a tragedy to roll it out after for timing effect. How else was it ready to go out of the box like that? She's losing too much momentum to Bernie, and needs this issue to try and get herself back into the graces of the far left. You guys think Hillary has a chance to go to jail...that's cute. The Obama administration may let her fall on her sword by quietly dropping out of the race (paging Joe Biden) and fading from public view, but no way do they let her drag the party down with an arrest and a trial that will own the headlines worse than Casey Anthony.2 points

http://www.computerworld.com/article/2990203/security/aclu-orwellian-citizen-score-chinas-credit-score-system-is-a-warning-for-americans.html From the article: "In China, every citizen is being assigned a credit score that drops if a person buys and plays video games, or posts political comments online “without prior permission," or even if social media "friends" do so. The ACLU said the credit rating system, an Orwellian nightmare, should serve as a warning to Americans."1 point

"While Christians get the discount, Williams says he's never refused to sell anyone a gun and welcomes customers of all religions". He might want to add Sell a gun to anyone that passes a background check rather than just sell to anyone but that is a generous offer but do Christians carry ID cards showing they are Christians. I still think it is a great offer after what LT Governor Ramsey said............jmho1 point

Newest additions... 12 Year Whistle Pig Old World and 7 year Willett. The 7 Year Willett is worth every penny compared to the standard Willett's that are floating around. 12 Year Whistle Pig is good, but I'm kind of on the fence about it...1 point

I know the family. The guy has a brother that's my age and I grew up playing ball against them and things, not exactly the coming over for dinner kind of knowing them. I guess I know of him is a better way to put it. Reading that interview, Dave seems like a nice, level headed guy. It would take a lot for me to be that calm and composed when talking about the situation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

I don't see how such an event could be permanent. We constructed this modern, intricate grid in less than a century. We have more know how than when we started. Also, after reading One Second After, I did some reading on how devastating an EMP attack or extreme solar event would be against our grid. From what I gathered, it would not be as it is presented in literature and on Alex Jones sites, with all electronics and the power grid being fried. I'm no expert on the subject, but I've read conflicting articles on it, and it seems the articles which play down the threat are well written by people who seem to have a firm grasp on what they're talking about, whilst the articles which predict doom and gloom are written by people who sell ad space to prepper websites, and present opinion as fact. Just my observation.1 point

With bigger tires, I'd try to find one with a D44 rear axle. Look for signs of radiator and water pump leaks. I'm on my third radiator and 2nd water pump. The 4.0 motor is a beast. I've got a 2000 Sport myself.1 point

I don't understand the assumption that any catastrophic event in the US must have some biblical connotation to it. Be it from economic collapse or natural disaster, things like this happen all throughout history. The only difference is now you're potentially living through it, so man's self centered view of the cosmos extends to time itself, I guess. I wish you the best of luck out in the wilderness. You won't be alone. The forests of our continent won't be as you remember them in peacetime. Hell, you can't stroll through the forest during deer season without running into several people. I don't see why it's so difficult to understand that when there is a shortage of food, every good 'ol boy and city slicker with a hungry belly and a boomstick will be crashing through the woods thinking he's smarter than all the rest of us. Good luck with that. Hopefully one of the few thousand people competing with you in the forest don't raid your campsite and kill you in your sleep. Also, hunting on a full stomach (if you've eaten in the past 24 hours, you have a full stomach), versus hunting after not eating for several days is very different. Wanna test this theory? Great! It's always good to be prepared. Don't eat for 3 days, and no cheating. Water is the only thing you're allowed. Now, go to the forest for a couple of days and only eat what you can dig up or kill. You'll find that it isn't easy. You will expend more calories foraging than you will replace with what you find. You'll notice that you can't walk very far without getting tired and having to rest. That's where you'll learn that starvation in the wilderness is an exponential event. But hey, what do I know? I may die in my home. But I will die with a roof over my head, my wife and kids at my side, a full belly, and a pile of expended brass and dead bodies at my feet.1 point

My wife and I didn't go. My oldest son, his wife and two kids didn't go. My other son and his lady didn't go. Our family made our statement. I hope there were a lot more here that made the same statement. The oncoming lawsuit is icing on the cake. If any profits from the event are absorbed in the cost of litigation that would be just fine with me. Way too many bleeding heart liberals controlling our lives now.1 point

I heard about this today and thought I'd share it. It's working to try and overturn the law that prevents companies like EPB from expanding into places like Bradley County. This would bring about competition and work to lower prices, better service, an expansion of internet services, and most importantly, jobs. Just look at what EPB has done for Chattanooga and what Google Fiber has done to other cities it's been put into. http://www.tn4fiber.org/ Has more information and there's a petition you can sign. Also found and article the Cleveland Daily Banner had written today http://clevelandbanner.com/stories/internets-unserved-updated-on-dumb-law,194351 point

This. For some reason, especially in 38/357 and 44 mag. I get some splitting as early as 2nd or 3rd loading. For the auto stuff it is much more rare. I believe I've only thrown 2 nickel 40 cases away in the last decade due to splitting. I actually prefer the nickel stuff for SHTF defense ammo. More resistant to tarnish, and nickel is more slick to aid in feeding. I don't all the premium defense ammo is nickel just for looks. ;-)1 point

Some of that money goes to the local sheriff to fill out a form... forget the exact amount but $15-25... Plus they waste a lot of HCP money. They print up a lot of materiel and give it away at gun shows, there is a ton of travel expenses related to them going to gun shows... they have educational outreach about the permit program... They get very creative in how to waste the money. Also, they're supposed to be running a 60-80 day backlog on permits... what is the current turn around time? 14-21 days? Trust me there is a LOT of fat that can be cut. I remember having lunch with John Harris years ago, and him commenting on how they got caught the last time the TFA reviewed their books spending a bunch of money on employee salaries unrelated to the HCP program and had to go back and redo a bunch of stuff. My guess is if somebody took them time to go down and ask for the budget, you'd be shocked just how easy they waste that $50 per person.1 point

I think with the difficulty we had getting the park carry law passed and signed into law shows the great difficulty we would have in legalizing carry in colleges and more so K-12 schools in this state with a handgun carry permit. You will never get college carry legalized in a Constitutional Carry law in this state. In roughly half the states you can carry on a college campus, with a license. Out of that half, maybe ten you can legally also carry in K-12 schools, again with a license. The politicians in this state somewhat tolerate the handgun carry permit system and like to throw a few crumbs toward improving it every so often so they get a vote. It is important to remember that the House Speaker and the Lt Gov/Senate Speaker could have never allowed a floor vote on park carry. The recent democratic house speaker never would allow floor votes on any bills that improved the handgun carry permit. I think you'd have a greater chance in dropping the 'no guns' signs penalties for people with permits and maybe college carry with permits before you would ever get Constitutional carry. With limited time during legislative session, that is what I would focus efforts lobbying for. Gun rights organizations just need to work the best way that they can with committee chairs and other key legislative leaders, especially with realistic bills that make sense in improving the permit system.1 point

can't believe no one mentioned it. If anyone had shot that Barrett with their eye resting on the scope it would have been a bloodbath for the shooter. I kept waiting for Travis to pull the trigger, then WHAM to the eye. This episode really showed how bad it could get and how fast. One question during Story Sync was if the Army Captain was killed by the "infected" or if he was fragged. I voted Infected. I love Daniel's voice tone and how he speaks.1 point
