Horse pucky. We have grizzlies. Pure white ones. They hang out with the black cougars. I've seen them. Same conspiracy denies them. - OS4 points

So Friday's food sucks, their service is typically awful and they are very anti-gun. How do you boycott a place you already refuse to visit? I just don't get it. I was a restaurant manager for 3 different chains for a bit over 15 years. I did everything I could to get officers to eat there as often as possible. If their departments allowed it the food was always free. If they only allowed a discount then they always got as much as was allowed. And, if the department had a no discount policy (a few of the larger ones did) I would donate free food and/or gift cards to their fundraisers etc... Restaurants have an unfortunate tendency to get robbed. I wanted as many armed friendly faces around as possible. In the smaller towns in East Tn and East Tx that I spent a fair amount of time in it was very common for the officers to learn what time we closed out and come hang out in their cars while we made night deposits. The last company I worked for was primarily located in malls. During the Christmas season our staff would have to park a fair distance away. Several departments would offer to escort the employees to their cars as the wait staff in particular would often leave carrying a decent amount of cash. Did they do that because of a free burger? Of course not. They did it because they were professionals. Getting a discounted meal or a free cup of coffee on a cold wet night just made it easier for them to do so... Mark3 points

I tell you, it is getting to the point that every time I hear the oxymoronic (as well as simply moronic) phrase, "common sense gun laws" I want to vomit. See, common sense - real common sense - tells me that criminals do not follow laws. Common sense tells me that a guy that is going to walk into a school/church/restaurant/strip club or whatever and start killing people - often total strangers at that - and then eat his gun when the cops show up really doesn't give a tinker's damn about whether or not the gun he uses to do it was obtained legally. Likewise a person who robs a bank, stages an armed invasion of another person's home and so on. Common sense tells me that, ultimately, the only people whose behavior is changed by laws are the law abiding. So, therefore, claiming that more/stricter limitations on the right to own firearms will somehow cause criminals to suddenly obey the law defies common sense.2 points

ever since I found Freedom Munitions, I have completely given up buying ammo at a retail store. I have bought 9mm, and .380 from them. it functions great in my weapons, burns cleaner than several brands, availability almost always is a NON-issue and it is usually cheaper. don't really see a downside here. . .2 points

This is where I'm at. I don't think the resturant should ask them to leave, but what's good for the goose is good for the gander. Plenty of beat cops only do the bare minimum to qualify with a handgun, and I'm guessing for Parole and corrections officers it's not stressed anywhere near as much. So why does a person carrying a badge have a right to carry a firearm there, but I can't. I've done my time on the two way range and have plenty of time and training behind both a pistol and a long gun. I guess it's a pointless argument anyways, I'm not spending money anywhere that refuses my right to carry a firearm. Sent from behind the anvil2 points

Several people were looking at my Punisher TR4 and Godson yesterday. They were impressed by the workmanship of the Protech knives, as most of the knives they'd handled were gun show junk.2 points

I know someone who is a probation officer, and I think they typically wear those dressy tactical cargo pants with a polo that has their office label and logo on it. And they carry a sidearm. Pretty hard to not understand that they are some kind of law enforcement just at a quick glance. The part of the story that gets me is the social media outrage. In his job, he is not there to protect anyone. The pistol is for his protection due to the criminals he interacts with each day. He has no more firearm / safety training each year than I do. Why is everyone outraged that someone like him can't carry into the restaurant, but nobody outside of TGO could give a rat's ass about any one of us?2 points

We all knew a gun control plan from Hillary was coming, she just waited for a tragedy to roll it out after for timing effect. How else was it ready to go out of the box like that? She's losing too much momentum to Bernie, and needs this issue to try and get herself back into the graces of the far left. You guys think Hillary has a chance to go to jail...that's cute. The Obama administration may let her fall on her sword by quietly dropping out of the race (paging Joe Biden) and fading from public view, but no way do they let her drag the party down with an arrest and a trial that will own the headlines worse than Casey Anthony.2 points

http://www.computerworld.com/article/2990203/security/aclu-orwellian-citizen-score-chinas-credit-score-system-is-a-warning-for-americans.html From the article: "In China, every citizen is being assigned a credit score that drops if a person buys and plays video games, or posts political comments online “without prior permission," or even if social media "friends" do so. The ACLU said the credit rating system, an Orwellian nightmare, should serve as a warning to Americans."1 point

Ramjo didn't have a shooting table, and he wanted a table that he could move easily by himself. We thought about a small lightweight table, or perhaps a table on wheels with a trailer hitch. After throwing around some ideas, I thought it would be convenient to make a table that could be taken apart and assembled by one person without any tools, and if it could fit in the bed of my truck, that would be a bonus.... So here's what I came up with... It's four pieces and the top is the heaviest (probably 40-50 lbs that will hopefully get lighter as the pressure treated wood dries out) And it's surprisingly stable... Now I just have to build Ramjo one, because I'm keeping this one! Perhaps I can improve on the overall design a little more. Feel free to steal this idea or offer any suggestions1 point

Not currently but I heated a 1000 sq ft house for two winters with an insert and wood. It was a lot of work and I enjoyed it. My wife didn't want anything to do with it and it doesn't sound like yours does either. If you go this route then you should probably duct it into the dog house.1 point

Newest additions... 12 Year Whistle Pig Old World and 7 year Willett. The 7 Year Willett is worth every penny compared to the standard Willett's that are floating around. 12 Year Whistle Pig is good, but I'm kind of on the fence about it...1 point

I think you would Be fine with the LNL, 550 or 650, they will all do what you are after, I like the SDB also but you already have dies that fit the other presses and it limits you to pistol only. I've seen a lot of people in the last few years jump full bore into a progressive with case/bullet feeders and all of the other bells and whistles, then the next thing you know they are telling me how they stuck a bullet in the barrel from a squib load or that it's just sitting collecting dust because they couldn't get it running right. I've loaded on all of these presses except for the LNL and liked all of them, I don't know how long you have been reloading or what your mechanical aptitude is, just be aware that you can over buy and have regrets also. I looked at it as they were about to be on the move again. Unlike Rick's group, they don't yet have a plethora of guns to leave one behind with the bitten/scratched victim for offing themselves as they get sick. It was either kill her now and get to the boat, or leave her to turn...and still get to the boat. Either way, it's time to go. You're hitting on the thing that has bothered me since the beginning of this show. They seem to be switching from "normal" people to savage killers doing what it takes to survive too easily. Not too quickly, just too easily. None of these terrible choices seem to be tearing them up inside like they should be. Sure there was a jackass Lieutenant, but the rest of the Army personnel treated them pretty well. Travis even witnessed the enlisted men pushing back against the Lt. in "Cobalt". But then they turn around and dump the hoard of zombies on the base knowing it's going to kill a lot of the men who have been keeping them safe, just to sneak into that same base. That's cold, brutal, possibly necessary, and a viable plan that worked out for them*, but no remorse? Seriously? *They went in to get 3 people, but only get to keep 1 of the 3 (and it's Nick, so that's a loss), but the big win is one they didn't expect and that's Strand.1 point

Not very. They have back-up generators and batteries. They just shut down, stop making power, and let the core cool off. Its something they practice routinely.1 point

With bigger tires, I'd try to find one with a D44 rear axle. Look for signs of radiator and water pump leaks. I'm on my third radiator and 2nd water pump. The 4.0 motor is a beast. I've got a 2000 Sport myself.1 point

Comm... We have a dillon 650 that i bought from an old buddy that wuz downsizin and tired of reloading... I like em, and their customer service is excellent... The main problem with progressives is that ya need to settle on a recipe that ya are gonna use and load it... If ya do, ya can pile up bunches of ammo... If ya are a tinkerer and experimenter, ya just as well have a single stage... That bein said, we have several "standard" loads that we load a minimum of about 500 rounds for on the dillon... They are great for straight side pistol cartridges, but lots of folks load 223 on em too... I never have... The most dangerous thing with a progressive is powder charging, so ya need to use a powder recipe that will allow you to spot an overcharge... We have double charged some cases; but i always select a recipe that will overflow the case if ya have a double charge... We also use a powder check die in the station to make sure as well... Lots of folks make them and they are a valuable tool... The thing about the dillon is that you can set up your dies in a die head and just change them out when you change calibers...Another down side is if ya change bullet designs within a caliber, ya need to re-set the seating and crimping dies... That's why ya need to settle on the bullets and recipes that ya load... Initial set up is a pain with these things, so it's handy to be able to lock down the dies on the die head after ya get things the way ya want them and just change them out with the change in calibers... Finally, the speed of a progressive is overhyped...Speedy reloading is dangerous reloading, i think... I've never loaded 500 rounds of anything in an hour... It's more like two hours... Hope this gets ya ta thinkin a bit... I'm sure others will chime in on this... leroy1 point

To ante the pot, I've asked Kris (173rdABN) from DTV Tactical Innovations in Hendersonville to bring down some of his weaponry and help out with the event. There's a potential scheduling snafu he has to work out but as of now it's a definite maybe. Be difficult to find someone to match Kris' decade plus of SAW experience. He's a combat vet who cut his teeth while serving as a 249 gunner in the deadly Korengal Valley, Afghanistan then later as an Overseas Security Contractor. A great guy to meet, always willing to help and an asset to the TGO community.1 point

My wife and I didn't go. My oldest son, his wife and two kids didn't go. My other son and his lady didn't go. Our family made our statement. I hope there were a lot more here that made the same statement. The oncoming lawsuit is icing on the cake. If any profits from the event are absorbed in the cost of litigation that would be just fine with me. Way too many bleeding heart liberals controlling our lives now.1 point

I've really heard the term "common sense gun laws" beaten to death in the past few days. I really believe that this phrase was coined to 1) insult anyone that does not agree with the proposed measures and 2) subtly convince the uneducated, uninformed and the fence sitters that going against the proposed measure would defy logic. I know that I am preaching to the choir here but only a fool would simply go along with any government proposal without examining the contents for themselves and drawing their own conclusions.1 point

I'd be way less concerned about insurance fraud than I would folks casing the place to come back later. Considering how hard it is to find good help to start with, and the high number of scammers, flakes, and otherwise shady folks on Craigslist I would steer clear.1 point
