You see - its all these Sharia/Salafist dudes that are starting to infiltrate. It is not done on accident - LE? Reservist? Project Manager for the electric grid? He is one of thousands. We have them working her on post. Driving delivery vans. Working baggage at the airport? Further more this will not gain traction in the legal system at all. A defense attorney will call him and upstanding citizen and that everyone is racist and islamaphobic. Too easy to cop out. This is only going to get worse. It is not foreign enemies we need to worry about - it is the Domestic ones... Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk4 points

90 days are over with. I got a 10% raise on Friday. I was rather stoked. We are hitting all of our growth targets as previously established. In addition I have cut the percentage of error from 3% to less than 1% on all entered work orders. And I have also become the go to guy for pricing guns. Nearly everyone in the company is an outdoorsman. And apparently last year, they gave a rifle away at the Christmas party. So I am pretty confident that I am where I belong. I am in a private company where I can talk one on one with the owner, who I report directly to, I get constant confirmation that I am doing a good job, and everyone else enjoys the same hobbies as I do. Oh, and I am making more than I was at DPSG, by a large percentage.3 points

Couple of days ago received the mail packet in the mail from the NRA stating after 20+ years all dues packages are going up in early 2016. I recently sent in my annual dues, so no big deal, and I had for some time now contemplated becoming a life member. They do have the bargains by 2016 standards until December 31. The notices within the package pointed me to this web site: https://www.nra2016.org/SignIn Here is the low down: 1-year dues will increase from $35 to $40 3-year dues will increase from $85 to $100 5-year dues will increase from $125 to $140 Life dues will increase from $1000 to $1500 Junior Life dues will increase from $550 to $750 Distinguished Life dues will increase from $375 to $750 In my mail packet and confirmed with the NRA link above, Life Memberships are on special again for $500. I think its time, and I am going to use Paypal to pay! Just to annoy the Paypal folks! I guess I will later work on Patron or Benefactors level later in life. I think I will pull the trigger on Nov. 11th. Just in honor of some folks I know.2 points

Just an update. My sister got to meet Rachel and pick up her gun from Fighting Sheepdog. Their price on transfer was exactly as quoted here BUT the time they were willing to spend with her showing her how to break down and clean her new gun was priceless. I expect you have made a customer for life for your kindness and caretaking of her purchase. Thank you for taking care of my sis. We've already been to the range and she loves her new gun. J.2 points

Anyone else here tried the JD Single Barrel Barrel Proof yet? I found a bottle and bought it. Mine was 128 proof and holy cow udders is it hot. I prefer my bourbon around 100 proof, but have drank Elijah Craig barrel proof up to 140 and it doesn't seem as hot as the JDBP. Anyway, it's been open about a week now so I need to revisit it. If anyone around the Nashville area wants to sample before they purchase their own I'm happy to share. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

All we can do is form our opinion on what we have heard or read so far, until there's another side to this story I have to say the guy (potential victim), did a good thing by giving the rager a chance to live and sober up to contemplate what "almost" happened, like he be dead instead of alive. Popping a handgun round in the ground? Unless you hit an angled piece of granite it's not really going anywhere. The Rager ought to thank him later on for sparing his life, at least his momma should thank him.2 points

So does this mean they will be releasing some of the 92 bazillion rounds of 40 call ammo they bought last year? It's surplus now, so we should be able to pick it up cheap. Right?2 points

I would hope so. I'd like to get a 20 but the grooves are in the wrong place for people with large hands. My fingers rest mostly on the ridges. :shrug:2 points

Should have driven to the police station. I have no issues with him firing warning shots, or even killing this lunatic with the bat, but don't drive back to your house. You don't want someone like that to know where you live. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Y'all are using the wrong system. Mine tells me when misty or Sabrina are on stage at "The catch", and when Deja Vu is having a 2 for one special. Also sends an alert when 556 brass ammo price drops below 275.00 per 1000....2 points

We can't know how he felt, maybe he was trying anything to keep from killing him first. No good deed goes unpunished, I would bring that up at a Mt. Juliet town meeting, I would advise someone not try to stop a life threatening situation by warning someone, just go ahead and kill them.2 points

Please allow me to introduce myself, I am the Dispatch Manager and Software Integration Specialist for Dauenhauer Plumbing. The largest privately owned plumbing company in the state of Kentucky. I accepted the position this morning. It is a raise, and a promotion from where I was. It is a more relaxed atmosphere and I will be instrumental in big changes at the company. I will be helping select the new software and phone system, participating in the construction and layout of a new building for my department and then training my department in the best way to do the job. After that I will be on the continuous lookout for new software and technological advances to keep my company on the cutting edge of the plumbing industry as technology leaders. The statement was "We knew where we needed to be, we had no idea how to get there, then you walked in the door as the solution to everything we needed.2 points

So, they've cut into all progamming (on Comcast at least), FIVE friggin times in the last hour or so. The first 3 times, there was no audio, no information at all. The 4th time, there was audio which only said when the alert was issued. The 5th time, finally, there was a description, with no real info past Hispanic, mom with 1 year old, fled St. Louis. And of course the damn things always last 3 times as long as the actual information imparted before they finally go away. Seen a lot of that lately, completely information free cut ins. Whoever is in charge of this system should be fired immediately. /rant - OS1 point

Actually, ATF is indeed efficient, in divulging the minimum they can get away with for public consumption, and even that often cloaked in half truth. They want to keep things as murky as possible, relying on intimidation rather than actual court rulings as settled law. For example, they have rulings that have never been tested by a conviction in court -- a vertical forward grip on a pistol and firing a braced pistol from the shoulder as two prime examples. And of course the classic reason they don't even want to test many of their "rules" was the lesson of the Thompson Case in which ATF lost a helluva lot of prosecution power. And the kicker is that they did not acknowledge that publicly in a "ruling" until 2011, even though SCOTUS laid down the law 23 years earlier! And even still, look at the last question in their "FAQ": "If a person has a pistol and an attachable shoulder stock, does this constitute possession of an NFA firearm? Yes, unless the barrel of the pistol is at least 16 inches in length (and the overall length of the firearm with stock attached is at least 26 inches). However, certain stocked handguns, such as original semiautomatic Mauser “Broomhandles” and Lugers, have been removed from the purview of the NFA as collectors’ items." Which of course is totally not true, even by ATF's own public admission, unless the pistol and stock are possessed in such a manner than only an illegal configuration can be made. And again, that's from SCOTUS, and not subject to ATF regulatory whim. That's what I mean by their giving partial "information" out, if they make it easily available at all. In short, ATF duplicitous and thuggish culture seems to remain alive and well. - OS1 point

They're playing games with me again! lol. I went out pretty late this afternoon. I parked my truck by the barn and walked about 3/4 of the way up a large wooded hill on our land. I just sat down at the base of some trees and watched a well used trail. At the end of legal shooting light, I stood up and quietly walked back down the hill. As I reached the bottom, was still enough light for me to see the 2 fat does feeding just 30yds in front of my truck. I guess I could have just sat in the tuck lol They're playin' with me I tell ya  If was past legal shooting time and not a safe shot angle with the road anyway, so they won this round.1 point

One of my kids were scared of the stuffed animals there when he was small. The other one didn't like the singing animal band. Neither have ever complained of a gun display anywhere. Why any adult would fear an inanimate object is beyond my comprehension.1 point

Awesome pictures. I can't help much with abandoned structures but my wife and I love to hike. We usually prefer Big South Fork because we can bring the dogs and rarely see other people. For camping, Citico Creek is hard to beat. Another lesser known hike is Stinging Creek falls.1 point

I like what makes my life easier. I don't really care what David (still want to call you Tungsten :) ) changes the payment plan too as I am already a life member but paypal hooked up to a CC I have makes life a lot simpler sometimes. I pay what I pay and get the points for using the card. I'd vote ( given the option ) for whatever is best for the website financially. Paypal is easy to use, if given the choice of it on purchases I choose that option everytime.1 point

My friend and I are stalking our favorite liquor store where we spend too much money. We literally purchased 8 bottles of bourbon. Our area isn't even expected to get VanWinkle this year which bums me out because if love to buy it for the big guy. This week I grabbed him a bottle of Larceny (it looked cool). A bottle of Beer Barrel Bourbon and Traverse City Bourbon (I'm a Michigander so gotta support the home teams) and a bottle of knob creek single barrel selected by the store. He has to be careful with the KC, last time he had that, there was an "incident" involving steps. LOL I really just like finding new and interesting ones. I stared at several bottles of the Michters. Now I know it's safe to buy it. Thanks!1 point

Dan Wesson is 70 series and internal extractor. For the record, Springfield actually has an extra "safety" with the ILS(internal locking system) in the mainspring housing which actually has specific springs not standard to the 1911, also the mainspring is sprung heavier in Springfields due to this. No hate for Springfield though, I love the ones I have.1 point

Heck, S&W created the .40 in collaboration with the FBI as a direct result of the Miami shootout because the agency wanted to blame the 9mm for the tragedy and some of their agents couldn't handle 10mm. I don't know, however, if this is so much about not being able to handle the .40 as it is about modern 9mm ammo being every bit as good performance wise with less recoil and (although I didn't see it specifically mentioned) higher capacity in the same sized pistols.1 point
-
I'm with you, my .40 does just fine, I made good use of 9mm in the service and know the value of having just one more round so there is no way I'm carrying less. I don't have a 10mm, but if my .44 mag doesn't kick my 4th point of contact I highly doubt a 10mm will. I don't snub any caliber, there are some I don't own but that's because I haven't come accross a good deal on one yet.1 point

Because he wasn't in fear for his life when he fired. If he was truly in fear he would have shot to kill. The law is pretty clear you can only fire your weapon if you feel your life IS in danger. If you are firing a warning shot your life is clearly not in danger. Thanks Robert1 point

From the IRS website: The Affordable Care Act requires employers to report the cost of coverage under an employer-sponsored group health plan. Reporting the cost of health care coverage on the Form W-2 does not mean that the coverage is taxable. The value of the employer’s excludable contribution to health coverage continues to be excludable from an employee's income, and it is not taxable. This reporting is for informational purposes only and will provide employees useful and comparable consumer information on the cost of their health care coverage.1 point

Neat looking handle with the leather, etc. Next time, instead of a rake handle, look at Home Depot for one of those 'industrial' type push broom handles. My local HD has them in two thicknesses. I got the thicker one to make (yet another) walking staff out of (got the idea from a video on youtube by preparedmind101) and it is pretty beefy. They also sell wooden dowels that are even thicker than those. Imagine a good, strong, thick wooden shaft with a 'knob' style handle rather than a crosspiece handle. Make the knob handle by taking one of those sort of decorative (as in closed/domed at the top) lug nuts intended for use on a semi, threading the top of the shaft to screw into it and epoxying it into place. You could go a little more 'stealth' by covering the lug nut and the section of shaft just below it in leather. I have also wondered about using a couple of pieces of the thicker walled PVC pipe - maybe in 3/4 inch or even 1 inch - and filling the pipe with some kind of lightweight resin, epoxy or something like that. PVC pipe will apparently get soft and allow you to shape it much like kydex if you heat it (although you have to be careful as PVC pipe reportedly gives off fumes that are somewhat toxic when heated so you'd want to do it outdoors and wear a mask.) I'm thinking that a simple crook or even something a little more decorative could be created for the handle by slightly heating, bending (or shaping) the PVC before filling with the resin, epoxy or whatever. You could also heat and twist the shaft, etc. for an interesting look. Then the whole thing could be painted with whatever paint scheme one wanted - a camo pattern (something like a Mossy Oak hunting camo pattern might be fun), a theme to match your favorite sports team, flowers and peace signs or whatever. A really skilled hand might even paint it to look like wood, at least to a passing glance. I wonder if it couldn't even be dipped using one of those water soluble 'decal' type kits. At any rate, I'm thinking that if the epoxy, resin or whatever was used to fill the PVC pipe were sturdy enough it might be sort of a 'poor man's' (I prefer 'do it yourselfer's) version of that Cold Steel walking stick I linked to in my last post.1 point
