  2. Police speeding.   Using a cell phone in a theater.   Using a cell phone while driving.   Having more than 10 items in the express lane.   Taking up more than one parking space.   Hunting from someone else's deer stand.   Flying a drone over someone else's property without permission.   Visible underwear in public.   Agreeing to do something and not following through.   Putting sugar in cornbread.   Having a dremel tool near a quality firearm.   Spitting out used chewing gum where people walk.

  5. I'll bet that most folks here are familiar with the Asian version of caning for punishment.   So, I had a credit card that was really cool.  The three digit code on back of the card was .357 (ok, I added the point in front, but it really did have 357)   So, some scumbag started with fraudulent charges.  The card had to be replaced with one that has three very uncool numbers.   This is absolutely a caning offense.   Next, whoever had the bright idea that only one lane was needed on the ramp from I-40W to the 440 loop in Nashville is on the list as well.   How about you?  Seen any caning offenses lately?

He symbolizes all that is wrong with politics and the overbearing "we're so right" class of liberal trash.... I think it's great that the citizens of VA were heard loud enough by the state legislature to over-run this sickening piece of Northern Virginia trash... The people of VA deserve better than McAluffe... Maybe they are wizin up a bit...   Here's hopin... despisin leroy

  19. Finally made it out to the range today with my P-01 containing CGW pro kit and newly polished innards. Also took along newly acquired Rami manual safety model. I fired a couple hundred of my 124 grain reloads between the two pistols. The P-01 was a fine weapon prior to the polishing and new parts installation, but now it is greatly improved. Double action trigger pull is a smooth 8.5 lbs and the single action is right at 3.5 lbs. Trigger reset is much shorter and the overtravel adjustments on the trigger makes for more pleasurable experience when going for the quick double taps. At seven yards it was no problem cutting the center out of the bullseye. After shooting it and then shooting the stock Rami, two things were quite evident. Both pistols were very accurate and shot to point of aim with no failures. The P-01 trigger with CGW parts and polish job was a much better trigger. I am going to have to put some work into the action in order to be satisfied with the trigger on that pistol. I am thinking of just removing and polishing everything and see what that does for it. It might be interesting to see what gains can be made without aftermarket parts. Any opinions?

  20. It is made from 5/32" 1095 carbon steel professionally heat treated to a RC of 59-61. OAL is 10" and blade is about 5 1/2". It's also double acid etched and has a very thin red liner, ebony and mesquite scales with mosaic pins and brass lanyard hole. It has some nice file work on the spine and will also come with a kydex sheath. It's found a home in North Carolina.

  23. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/virginia-concealed-carry-reversal-catches-gun-control-advocates-by-surprise/ar-BBoSQLR     The relationship between Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D) and gun control groups is quickly souring after critics say he caved to pressure from the National Rifle Association. Virginia will now recognize concealed carry permits from dozens of other states with what critics say are weaker gun laws than the commonwealth. The move, announced by McAuliffe on Friday, represents a sharp departure from the state’s decision shortly before Christmas to block many out-of-state gun owners from carrying in Virginia. McAuliffe hailed the deal as a bipartisan compromise. “This bipartisan deal to keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers and people who cannot pass background checks will save lives,” McAuliffe said Friday in a statement. “Give and take is essential to every negotiation, but the balance of this deal changes Virginia law permanently in ways that will keep guns away from people who would use them for harm.” The National Rifle Association (NRA) was able to beat down the Virginia measure that would’ve restricted what it sees as law-abiding gun owners from carrying in its own backyard. The group's headquarters are in Fairfax, Va. The NRA did not immediately respond to requests for comment, but the group’s top lobbyist, Chris Cox, told The Washington Post it "commends leaders in the commonwealth for moving forward on a bipartisan package that will benefit Virginia citizens.” The move comes as a shocking betrayal for gun control advocates. McAuliffe has touted his “F-rating” from the NRA, but Everytown for Gun Safety accused the governor of “caving to the gun lobby’s demands.” “Terry McAuliffe has been a good friend and strong ally to those of us in the gun violence prevention movement in Virginia,” said Lori Haas, director of the Virginia chapter of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence.  “Unfortunately, this deal with the NRA and pro-gun politicians is a mistake that, on the whole, would do far more harm than good,” she added. Last year, McAuliffe campaigned for stronger gun laws alongside Andy Parker, a Virginia resident whose daughter, Alison, was shot and killed on live television while broadcasting the news. "Many of us have spoken with you at rallies,” Andy Parker and other gun violence victims wrote Friday in a letter to McAuliffe. "We’ve backed you in your election for governor. You’ve comforted us and our families in some of our darkest moments. You have been a true friend to each of us and your support has meant so much to us. Over time, we've come to see you as a true champion of our ideals. A courageous fighter who stood up to the callousness of a gun lobby that for too long exerted undue influence over our political process here in Virginia. "This isn't the first time that we've been disappointed in a Virginia politician, but when you campaigned on this issue, [we thought] you were different,” the letter continued. In December, Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring (D) announced the commonwealth was severing ties with 25 states that had weaker gun laws. The concealed carry permits they issued would no longer be recognized in Virginia. Herring feared that dangerous people who would not pass a background check in Virginia could obtain firearms in states with weaker gun laws and bring them into the commonwealth. Those states included Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming. The ban was scheduled to take effect Feb. 1. "I have recommended the state police terminate the reciprocity agreements with 25 states whose laws are not adequate to prevent issuance of a concealed handgun permit to individuals that Virginia would disqualify,” Herring said in a statement. At the time, McAuliffe threw his support behind the decision. But a pressure campaign from Republicans in the state assembly and the gun lobby ensued. McAuliffe agreed Friday to reverse the concealed carry decision in exchange for concessions from Republicans. While Virginia must now allow gun owners from other states to carry in the commonwealth, state police will be instructed to confiscate firearms from people convicted of domestic abuse and will expand voluntary background checks. Despite these concessions, gun control advocates say it is a bad deal that will endanger the public. The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence called it a “mistake” that would allow people from other states who have been convicted of stalking, assault, sexual offenses, drunkenness, and people who are dangerously mentally ill to bring carry guns in Virginia. The group scoffed at the “optional" background check provision McAuliffe negotiated in the deal that "would not require a single private seller in the commonwealth” to comply.

  26. It is the liberal way of control. They just keep chipping away 1 at a time. It is like how to eat an elephant, 1 bite at a time. One cannot fathom the ignorance of these idiots in charge. How is it that some police superintendent has the "power" to determine who does or doesn't get a carry permit based on some essay? You know that a long time ago they tarred and feathered people like this or put them in the stocks and threw sh!t at them!! I am for bringing that back. Peaceful law abiding gun owners just want to be able to shoot or hunt without all the hassles. I saw a program on last night about the anti hunting humane society getting all the money to help the poor mistreated animals and only about 1% of the money went to the animals and the rest was spent on anti hunting campaigns. Everyone needs to really research where they send their donations to.

  29. I've had a firearms related classifieds Facebook group for a few years, and I'm an Admin on countless others. While you're probably much less likely to encounter an issue with a TGO member, I haven't had any issues during my many Facebook transactions. Unless you're a big dummy, you can generally get a pretty good idea of who you're dealing with. It doesn't take much to spot a bogus Facebook account from a mile away.  Facebook has a few advantages over sites like Armslist and GOC. Not only can quickly reach far more potential customers, you can also communicate much more efficiently in the thread or via PM, when compared to email. When communicating via email, you have even less of an idea of who you're really talking to than if you have a Facebook profile to browse through.   It sucks, but it's there house, their rules.

  30. I don't Facebook, but I think I would find buying a gun on there only a step above doing it via Craigslist.  At least with places like TGO's Trading Post, or GunBroker you can look at peer feedback of a buyer/seller.  I'm pretty big on having some kind of verification system involved.   End of the day, their site, their rules as others have said.  I don't think it's a big deal for the gun market so much as a PR feel good for the anti-gun side.   I guess during the next AR scare, people are going to have to sell marked up black guns the old fashioned way.

  35. Is this for city court or general sessions? Regardless you should have an opportunity to call and plead guilty with an opportunity to just pay over the phone. All of this assuming that is what you wanted to do. Unless you have to take off work, and it cost you money to go to court, I advise showing up for the court date and plead not guilty. The most it generally cost you is what the ticket would have cost anyway, especially if this is a city magistrate that is appointed. A $50 fine and your court cost is generally the max for Tennessee. Sessions court however is not limited to the $50 fine. I do not know of a maximum on court fees. I know one city in TN has one over $200, but most are around $100. As for your radar detector not giving you a warning there are several probabilities, but we can not rule out the possibility that the officer was not using a speed measurement device. He would be committing perjury by saying that he did when he didn't of course. Officers can write a ticket without confirming speed but it is highly discouraged. More sophisticated speed measurement devices such as Ka band radars are not as easily detectable even if you have a Ka band detector. Some field studies I was a part of ten years ago showed angles and window tint effect radar detector performance. As well, if he was using his device properly it didn't have time to give a warning before you were targeted and he released the button. We call this feature instant on. The waves go out and return too fast to often get detected. Laser is a completely different animal, but he would have checked Lidar instead of radar. I will say this: If the officer saw your radar detector it is probably the deciding factor for you getting a ticket over a warning. I have told numerous speeding violators, "I was going to give you a warning but I see that your radar detector must have already given you a warning or two." In all honesty, Officers have concluded that there is only one reason a person choices to have a radar detector; that is that they like to speed. Be safe and best of luck with contesting.

  41.     Stand there and watch people die.  Yep, that's what cops do all day, every day.  :shake:     I don't have anything against open carry.  I have issues with morons with feelings of inadequacy who get their rocks off trying be the next youtube hero by filming themselves "standing up to the man".  Their inability to carry on an intelligent conversation and immediately defaulting to butt hurt does nothing but work against what they claim their end game is.  I also have issues with this constant "us vs. them" attitude.  I refuse to accept the notion that the police are the Gestapo.  The majority are just people trying to do a pretty sucky job dealing with society's dregs for a pretty sucky paycheck.  I'll agree that there's certainly a few bad apples with a badge, but treating all of them like crap doesn't make anything better, it makes everything worse.   After that encounter, do you think that cop is more or less likely to hassle someone open carrying?  I bet he laughed his ass off when he walked away.  I'll bet he told all his cop buddies about it and I'll bet they all laughed too.   So while the OC'er may think he won, all he did was stir the pot.

  42. I don't disagree that cops should be held to a fairly high standard. However, I also think that our expectations for them to understand the nuances of a huge variety of laws that we ourselves have a hard time fully grasping is a bit much at times. Last I checked, cops don't get paid quite as much as lawyers, so expecting them to behave like one is a bit much. And you never know what that cop was doing 30 mins ago that might affect his/her attitude. It may have been decidedly more unpleasant than some nitwit trying to bait them into a mistake.
