  1. Using TGO is free. Buying from someone on TGO is free. We don't charge for either of those things. The only way I can imagine we would charge anything for the ability to view Trading Post listings is if we had to charge some silly low fee like $1.00 per year in order to make you a "member" to work around egregious laws. Am I forecasting that or predicting that it will happen? NO. But I'm not stupid and I've been involved in businesses for a few decades now and I know that sometimes legal loopholes exist for businesses that operate as a fraternal organization and charge a small me

  2. I've had several cheap ones and no expensive ones. The cheap ones have worked fine for me. I've had 5,7,8, and 12 foot nets. The smaller ones are much easier to throw for me. Interesting things I've caught - 4 pound largemouth - about 20 tilapia in a single cast at GSP. - about 10 white bass in a cast. Honestly, if I'm on bait, I have as much fun with a cast net as I do catching big fish.

  3. Hey Greg, I have been reloading in good and bad weather! It is a habit that I can't break, I see empty brass sitting here and there and it looks so much better with a primer stuck in 1 end and a bullet in the other.

  5. I tried eating gar last year and now it's the main fish I try to catch. The skin is hard as plastic and you need tin-snips to cut it open. After you get it open there are 2 long boneless loins on each side of the back. No need to gut it or skin it. The meat is odorless and firm like chicken. It's like alligator and I love it !!! This Gar was 3 feet long and both loins were around 15 inches long and nice and thick.

  6. The local Honda dealer has started trying to pull that scam. My wife went in for an oil change and even though her’s is an older model Accord, it doesn’t have nearly the number of miles where they USED to start saying to go synthetic. I told them to use regular oil and quit screwing around.

  7. I haven't bought squat in the past year or so. It'll show back up before long. As I've been reloading when the weather is bad, I would like to replenish my stock, but I've loaded enough ammo to shoot for a loooooooooong time.

  8. Adding to my comments on this. To set the mood for this...see my post above. When I had the RR done, I was told to stand in the shower and cut the little air bladder, then pull quickly. No problem. Won't feel a thing. Maybe a little tug or slight , short pain. Do it at home, he says. I'd had a pretty bad time with infections, so the catheter had been in for a like 6 days. The doc suggested that since my wife was a nurse she could do this for me. I was a bit reluctant about it at this point. It's ok, I can handle it she says. She was fine with it until the morning of the

  10. Seems like every time a Colt revolver is mentioned, this old myth pops up. I have never seen a Colt revolver that was out of time. If you take half way decent care of it, a Colt will out last you and then some. The Police Positive Special is built on Colt's "D" frame. This is the same frame as the Detective Special and Diamondback series guns are built on. Its slightly smaller than the S&W "K" frame, but still holds six rounds. I'm quite fond of it. These are excellent guns and I wouldn't hesitate to carry one. In fact, I've been keeping my eyes open for a couple of years now

  11. You know idiots like that is just what the gun community could do without. I had an old friend that commented several times about warning labels that we thought were stupid, he said if they didn't put them on the items, process of elimination would make the gene pool stronger.

  12. I have a 2018 F-150 and I just use the dealer since it’s as cheap as anyone else and close by. I also like the added things they do with “The Works” package and they use ford oil which I think is a sythetic blend and if anything happens, it’s on them. I’ve assumed that might be because of the twin turbos the 2.7L has. The wife drives a 2017 GMC Terrain with a 4 banger. She usually does the oil changes herself at a place she’s used for years and they use Havoline SAE 5W30. Today I was going to get it done locally at a Valvoline quick change. They, including the manager, told me I need to be usi

  16. Synthetics are good if you're in the habit of going way over the regular oil change intervals. I'm talking double or triple the recommended miles. Synthetics do hold up longer. in fact, longer oil change intervals is one of the synthetics biggest selling points. However, if you keep even close to the recommended mileage, plain old cheap petroleum oils work fine. The truth is that its not the oil that breaks down. Its the detergents and additives that don't last and require changing regularly. I worked in fleets my whole career. We specified the oil weights, 5W30 for gas burners and

  26. We stayed there a lifetime ago, and really enjoyed it. My son actually moved there a year or so ago, and they love it. When we went a long time ago, we stayed at a bed and breakfast. It was in a really old house in the historical district. They had bikes to use, and we would ride them all over town. It was great. If you have never done a B&B, you really should try it. You won't forget it. There is a horse drawn carriage ride that leaves from the Fort and drives all around the historical section. We really enjoyed that. It's all along cobblestone roads, so you get the clack, cla

  32. When speaking of classic movie quotes, don't forget the target rich environment of Mel Brooks' movies. I would venture to say that most everyone here can quote at least three or four lines from "Young Frankenstein" or "Blazing Saddles," and tell you exactly when it happened in the movie. For example....Dr. Frankenstein, "Werewolf?!?!" ; Igor, "There wolf...there castle." Ed

I bought the Lifetime Benefactor Membership just after David started the program. It was a special rate deal. I really don't even remember what that amount was. But I can tell you that it's been one of the best deals for a cost vs benefit decisions I've ever made. Not that I still couldn't have enjoyed, participated, bought and sold here way back then, but it's been a small amount to pay for all I've gotten in return. Ye

  36. I will say it. Quit being cheap asses and support a site that you come to in order to get the information you NEED, but yet you aren't willing to spend $35 to be a benefactor? Do you smoke, drink, drink coffee, or just have a hobby? Maybe I am way off base, but I waste $35 on week on stupid ####. You get a whole year. Quit being cheap! If you value the service, invest a small bit in it so it is here in the future when you need it again. Or maybe go somewhere else and find it. It pisses me off to no end to see people bitch about spending $35 but they don't flinch to spend $1

  43. Simple inflation. Rising cost for materials, labor, etc and so on. As far as I know, only Ruger has successfully created a polymer framed revolver and its butt ugly. Revolvers have gone up in price just like everything else. Then there is also the traditionalist view. Some folks just love the classic lines of a good revolver. Its just simple point and pull the trigger. No magazines, no safeties and no slide to rack. There's a quality and craftsmanship that goes into a wheelgun that no plastic fantastic could ever come near. Then there's the collectability of these fine old gu
