  1. Reluctantly selling my S&W 5903 9mm with 1-15 rd mag and IWB holster. Great shooting pistol. Don't see these 90's guns for sale much. I put Hogue grips on it, original grips included. $400 I'm in Nashville during the week and willing to meet in surrounding area within reason or 65 corridor from Nashville to Pulaski.

  10. Yep. His gun store was robbed one night by a gang of seven guys in two stolen cars. Beckwith, whose home was next door to the store, had a legal S&W 76 9mm subgun and a full-auto AR and fired 105 rounds against the gang, who tried to run him down with the cars. One car was disabled by Beckwith's gunfire and the other car escaped but was found later with the driver dead from a .223 round. This incident happened around 1990; Massad Ayoob wrote an article about it, perhaps in American Handgunner.

  11. Today I made my first online forum posting, despite being 45 years of age. I’ve read many a post, but have never participated before. To be honest, these things intimidate the fool out of me. I’ve got no idea what many of these tabs are about, except for bold and font. I fear that I’ll never have anything slick to post…it’ll probably just be vanilla for me, and that’s just fine really. I just hope I stick with it long enough to make some new friends and, hopefully, zero enemies! I guess I should introduce myself now. I’ve lived in East Tennessee my entire life, born and raised, and have a family myself - a 16yr old son and 14yr old daughter. Lord, be with me, please. I grew up in Walland mainly, and have also lived in Maryville, Seymour, Townsend, Rockwood, Alcoa, Louisville, and Oakdale. I call Sevierville home now, but, sadly, I don’t see myself staying here much longer due to the massive influx of Damned Yankees. If I sound a bit prejudiced, well, it’s because I am! Please don’t misunderstand me…I’m all for people fleeing government overreach and tyrannical tax rates, nor do I mind sharing the beauty of the ‘Greenest State in the Land of the Free’, what I take issue with is that our way of life is being belittled, stepped on, and ultimately destroyed. Goodness I could go on and on but I guess I had better not wear out my welcome in my first day. I’m sorry, I guess I’m just getting old and those precious values that I used to take for granted would always be here are disappearing and I just hate to see it because it’s one of the things that made being a Tennessean so dang special and now, like all good things, I see it starting to fade and it scares me in a way. Let me try this one more time. My name is Jeff, I’m a 45 year old man. I really enjoy firearms, heck I love them if I’m honest. I own many, but not too many that I can’t take each one apart, clean it, check it, and store it within a few weeks I’d say. I’m not partial to any one manufacturer, I do prefer American but own several that ain’t. I really enjoy the fit and finish as much as I do making them go bang…I find that to be more and more the case the older I get. I’ve worked with metals and machinery since my first job, just over 30yr ago now, and I’m certain that has a lot to do with it. I’m a Christian, although terribly backslidden, but I hope I’m able to clear that up one of these days…I’m just very thankful that He is merciful….and longsuffering! Looking forward to it….hope I haven’t already blown it!

  12. I am the original owner. Like a lot of carry guns this was carried a lot and shot very little. Probably had less than 500 rounds. Never had any issues with this gun. It comes with the box, paperwork and 2 magazines. Also come with 2 nice leather holsters. $475 $400

  13. I hate to do this but I'm going to make someone an awesome deal on one I just bought yesterday. This one is unfired (other than factory test) and comes as new with all factory supplied parts. If you're not familiar, this is the one with the built in comp that is all the rage right now. I searched everywhere for it. I don't have pictures but it looks exactly like the one in TGODavid's (but without an optic) recent thread. My wife has wrecked her car and she is facing medical bills and car repair costs, so I just cant keep this. This gun is almost impossible to find and this one is new other than I took it out of the box to look at it last night. I'll even throw in a Hogue slip on rubber grip sleeve for it at no extra cost. Local only or I can meet within a reasonable distance. PM me for questions and price. Sorry, no trades.

  14. I think I got a pretty fair deal on this one in 25-36M (25-35 Win). The guy wanted 1K, I offered 8 and met in the middle at 900. The bore looks shootable but has fine pitting all threw it with the lands being on the some what shinny side. I have over 300 fired 30-30 brass so I'm looking to resize some into 25-35. Anyone here done that? It has original sights and the screw slots are only slightly worked. Now its the mate to my 1893 30-30 take down. Just can't put my finger on out of all the rifles out there, a nice original shape 1893 calls to me. Pick one up off a table and my brain turns to jelly with wants.....just crazy.....Must have spent alot of time with one in my hands in a past life!

  23. Got the Kimber 243 that is neglected. Must have 60 rounds loaded for it. Wolf and coyote medicine. Problem is in Wyoming carrying the 243 i see a nice buck deer or antelope at 300 yds with the wind blowing 30mph. I hesitate with 95-100gr bullets. Getting old and playing it safe.

  27. Hello there, I’m very new here but getting older elsewhere! I just wanted to try and give you some advice, just in case your trip “west” ain’t Memphis! The reference to hiking (as opposed to running for your life) leads me to think that you’re speaking of the American West, and if so, here’s my advice: take them BOTH! If you come face to face with a Grizzly (God forbid), you’re going to need all the help you can get. I’ve been on several guided backcountry hikes in Idaho & Montana and they like you to have a large caliber rifle and a handgun serves in a backup role. For a day hike on a managed trail it’s really whatever you feel the most comfortable with. My rule of thumb is to always make sure that you’re able to outrun at least one other person!

  30. A hunting guide did bring down a bruin with a 9mm, using Buffalo Bore hardcast bullets. If I were going to carry either of these rounds though, I would opt for higher capacity. I have an XDs in .45acp and I like it a lot, but it only has a capacity of 5 or 7 rounds. I would not be comfortable with that limitation. The Ruger with the combination of a hi-cap mag (17 rounds) and Buffalo Bore 147gr hard cast bullets, as the hunting guide used below might be my choice, if I were limited to these two pistols. https://www.wideopenspaces.com/alaska-man-kills-charging-brown-bear-with-a-9mm-pistol/

  31. Take the XDs .45! I have owned one for six years and have put nearly 2,000 rounds through it. It is a tough customer and reliable. As to the number of rounds, I have an extended mag in mine so I have 8 rounds. Plus, at only .9 of an inch in width, it is very concealable if needed. Great package. Again, take the XDs .45.

  34. Let me just say that I swap this slide onto my G45 as well, whenever I want 17-rds and a slightly larger grip. I mostly carry this as it looks here, though, since my G45 is also milled for an optic but includes a comp and larger light. This Gen5 Glock 19 is definitely more of an EDC for me and has been through three different slide/optics configurations since I've owned it. (^^ This is an older pic with a Night Fision rear sight. I didn't like it, so I swapped that out for a 10-8 Performance rear sight) What you're looking at is a setup that has worked very well for me. Specifics are: Gen 5 Glock Frame with mostly stock internals. Zev Pro Trigger with Zev "Minus" Connector. Curved trigger shoe version. Agency Arms Syndicate S2 Slide with Agency Optics System (AOS). Holosun HE509T-X2-GR Green Dot optic on AOS plate. Traditional "irons-behind" plate version. Night Fusion front sight with green outline Tritium dot. 10-8 Performance rear sight with solid-black configuration. Glock OEM Gen5 "Marksman" barrel. Streamlight TLR7A weapon light. LAS Concealment Saya 2.0 holster. Why this setup? The key component in this setup for me is the slide because of the Agency Optics System. For years now I have run slides cut specifically for the Triicon RMR footprint. But as other players, like Holosun, have entered the game and gotten to be really good at it, I have wanted an optics mounting system that was manufacturer-agnostic. The AOS setup fits that bill for me and is really strong and very proven under some abusive conditions thanks to folks like Aaron Cowan at Sage Dynamics. How does it perform? Really well. I've become a serious fan of the Holosun 509T because of its rugged design, reputation for reliability (again, Sage Dynamics) and fully enclosed emitter design. This is my first green dot version, though, and I have not yet decided if it is all that more advantageous than a red dot. I have two other 509Ts, both red dots, on other guns and I run them just fine. The green dot is supposedly faster to acquire visually, but I honestly cannot tell much of a difference. It may just be me, though. The gun itself performs as you'd expect. It is a Glock. The Marksman barrel is quite nice. The gun is capable of more accuracy than I am. Occasionally the planets align, I do my part somewhat perfectly, and it feels like we're both in the groove. Those are good times. ZOMG, your serial number is visible! Meh. I'm not that paranoid. The government knows I have some guns and I run a big-ass gun forum. I'm already on their list.

  35. Judging by the level of emails I got about sales on the Polymer 80s, it just rang that the whole concept was a big money grab probably backed with a lot of VC money looking for a good return given how quick things materialized. And I get it...gun owners spend well, don't see firearms purchases as wasting disposable income for the most part, and boy do we love a perceived loophole to ATF shenanigans.

  37. I'm not sure if you have any NFA items already or not, but I was very hesitant to get one and be on the "radar" of the ATF. Once I did my first one, I never looked back and typically always have something pending. It isn't hard to file a form 1 and would suggest getting a trust if you do. I keep a 5320.20 filed for several items and for my typical locations I travel, that way no matter where I go, I can take something NFA with me. I've never been asked to see paper work by anyone and never hassled. Most of the time they draw attention to themselves and people ask a lot of questions about them, I try to use that time to teach people that suppressors and machine guns are not illegal. I would SBR them and never look back.

  42. I saw that this morning. Absolutely tragic. There is often a belief that a range or a gun store is a safe location from robbery. Sure, burglaries happen, but we tell ourselves that someone would be foolish to attack a gun store that has staff that is likely armed. I suspect that as a general rule, folks have just been quite lucky on that front up until now. Working at one of these places doesn’t make you safe, it makes you a target. There is absolutely a level of self selection with regards to the type of people that would make this type of play. The kind of robber that’s going to go after your local convenience store isn’t likely to try something like this and the numbers are that there are more of that type. I don’t see there being great numbers of people who would make this type of play, the problem is is that those who will are the hardasses. I think it’s pretty safe to say this was most likely not done by a lone gunman. This was a crew and in Georgia if they’re caught they’re all up for the death penalty. I hope these guys are caught quickly because I strongly suspect they’re not gonna stop here. They’ve already got capital murder charges most likely hanging over their head so there’s a good chance that more people could die before they’re done.

  43. He walked up to me and said, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY YARD!". He had a nice place on Old Hickory Reservoir. He was surrounded by apple orchards. The property with the orchard was across the road from his estate. The orchard was sold and subdivided. I was working for Nashville Electric Service and we were surveying a pole line to supply power for the new subdivision. I told Mr. Cash that we were going to have to put a guy wire in his yard to hold up a pole. He said "Oh no you're not!" I said "NO we are not." and we had to resurvey the pole line to keep the guy wire off his lawn. He was very happy and I had a story I could tell.
