Subject: 1947-48 I just thought you should know... The year was 1947. Some of you will recall that on July 8, 1947, a little more than 65 years ago, numerous witnesses claim that an Unidentified Flying Object (UFO), with five aliens aboard crashed onto a sheep and mule ranch just outside Roswell, New Mexico. This is a well-known incident that many say has long been covered-up by the U.S. Air Force, as well as other Federal Agencies and Organizations. However, what you may NOT know is that in the month of April, year 1948, nine months after the historic day, the following people were born: Barrack Obama Sr. Albert A. Gore, Jr. Hillary Rodham William J. Clinton John F. Kerry Howard Dean Nancy Pelosi Dianne Feinstein Charles E. Schumer Barbara Boxer Joe Biden This is the obvious consequence of aliens breeding with sheep and jack-asses. I truly hope this bit of information clears up a lot of things for you. It certainly did for me. Now you can stop wondering why they support the bill to help all Illegal Aliens.6 points

We just got back from a trip to FL and had a great time, minus those damn toll roads every 15 feet. Anyways, flew into Orlando and took a week driving down to Key West. Coming back yesterday we had the best flight attendant that exists, he didn't fit the stereotype at all; a bit overweight, about 4 inches too tall for the plane and maybe late 40's to early 50's. Anyways, he started in on the normal welcome aboard thing and the rest went something like this: ----------------------- Ladies and gentlemen, I found a brown wallet here with some money in it, if you could look this way and ID it... ok thanks, now that I've got your attention we need to cover some safety things. blah blah blah We'll be flying over water so in the event our flight turns into a cruise and the pilot into our skipper, use your seat cushion as a flotation device and do not grab on to me because I can't swim. blah blah blah The masks will drop down automatically, put yours on first then help the people around you. This happens fast, so if you're traveling with more than one child, decide now on who has a better chance at being successful in life blah blah blah There's a newly renovated smoking area in the plane, it's out on the right wing. If you do make it out there alive, the movie playing is gone with the wind and there's a full service salt water bath waiting for you upon landing. blah blah blah Thanks for choosing us, my mortgage company thanks you, my coworkers thank you and again welcome aboard Southwest Airlines where we like you, but like your money more. ----------------------- Guy went on for about 20 minutes and it was the only time I've ever listened to the entire thing... He had the whole plane rolling, wish I would've taped it cause it would've went viral for sure.5 points

I searched for an IBM for years. Finally got one about 4 years ago. I figured if I'm getting a Carbine, it should be an IBM - I've spent my entire career in embedded software so it just made sense.4 points

We have a nice restaurant within walking distance to our house (Market House near Jackson Square in Oak Ridge) that my wife and I like to go to. Not only is the food really good, but they have a nice selection of beer. So, my wife and I decided to go on a date to the restaurant last night. We decided to walk so we could partake of the adult beverages. We had a really nice dinner, drank a bit, laughed a lot, drank some more. It was a great evening. We walked home under the stars, the temperature nearly perfect, holding hands, giggling like a couple of school kids. I'm thinking this night is just going to get better  We get to the house and I see my stupid dog rolling around in the grass. Not just rolling, but plowing the ground with his face. That's when we noticed the smell of the skunk. I go over to the fence and, yep, he got it. So, now it's 10:30 at night and I'm outside giving my dog a peroxide and baking soda bath. The beer buzz is pretty much gone, and my hands and arms smell like skunk. Let's just say my dog was not the only one that got skunked last night! :mad:2 points

The work is hot and hard. But the fruits of the labor are rewarding. This is a small sample of the bushel of peaches I picked today. Also got a quart of domestic blackberries. The freezer will be full this year. Tapatalk ate my spelling.2 points

At least we are moving in the right direction by closing diplomatic posts. 90% of our embassy buildings should be vacant because there is no need for diplomatic relations with countries that would be considered our enemies 50 years ago. Along with closing those posts we should also be cutting aid. If we cannot safely stay in a country then they should not get any of our money.2 points

To use he term "gentleman" was quite gracious of you. I wonder how much of what they are reselling has been purchased here.2 points
-
Yep the circle continues. 1. Reseller buys up all the ammo at cheap retail prices from Walmart, Academy, Cabelas....and so on. 2. Panic buyer buys the resellers ammo at 3 times the price reseller bought it for at retail strore. 3. Reseller now has even more money to buy out the ammo at the retail price from Walmart, Academy, Cabelas...and so on. Number 1 and 3 would not exist without number 2.2 points

Personally he is the BEST candidate to test the TFFA and see if it stands up. Just think, if he tests it and it holds up against the feds, we win by having a legal precedent. If he tests it and loses and gets locked up for real finally, we win by not having to deal with his shenanigans anymore. Win/Win situation2 points

I think that this desn't pass the logic test. For starters we have to consider that the 1.6 billion rounds is spread out over a period of several years. Lake city alone manufactures over 1.4 billion rounds a year themselves even prior to the ammo madness. The U.S. ammunition market is huge. Even taking the lowest numbers of US produced ammunition and assuming all 1.6 billion rounds ordered are supplied in one year it is still around 10 percent of the total ammunition market. The last estimate i saw with all factories running full steam ahead is roughly 1 billion rounds a week total in which case the DHS purchase would be around 3 percent of the total market. Even if it was done with the intention of limiting supply the most the could hope for would to be to limit the supply over the short term. AS with anything in capitalism demand will drive the market to produce more. So even if the government created a false shortage eventually that shortage would be overcome by additional manufacturing. I think given that Americans were buying up roughly 1 gun every 1.5 seconds has more to do with the ammunition shortage. That's nearly 395,000 new guns sold in the US in the last 12 months. All these guns require ammunition along with every other gun we own. we are creating our own ammunition shortage. The manufacturers know it and are putting out rounds as fast as they can. Some may even be considering using this as their opportunity to expand while others are probably reluctant to do so because eventually the ammo bubble must pop.1 point

This morning: Six over easy home fresh banty eggs topped with buttermilk white cheddar cheese and sprinkled liberally with Cholula brand Lime & Chili hot sauce, pumpernickel toast w/butter and homemade brandied peaches for dessert. Washed it all down with "Hazlenut Dream" coffee spiked with a little Irish whisky. Tomorrow: A cup of hazlenut coffee at home followed by five or six more cups of whatever commercially available nasty, coal oil tasting (free!) coffee we use at the office... Tuesday: Pretty much the same as today except that I'll toss some marinated mushrooms on top, switch out the buttermilk white cheddar cheese with Amish Vidalia onion cheese and go with Tabasco Smoky Chipotle sauce instead of the Cholula. Wednesday: See "Tomorrow..." ^_^ ...TS...1 point

Unless you work in security or a secure location they may or may not find out about past arrests or convictions. But many places ask specifically if you have ever been arrested and to list the circumstances. They will make the determination if it’s important to them. Even if you don’t work in a secure location there are misdemeanor arrests that could keep you from getting a job. DUI and Domestic Violence are worse than Bank Robbery in a job interview. That is until being a criminal becomes a protected class. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/68570-background-checks-off-limits-to-employers/1 point

French toast made with three eggs covered in peanut butter, blackberry jelly, real maple syrup. Ethiopian dark roast coffee made from beans I roasted and ground myself. Sometimes, instead, I make a three egg omelet with bell pepper, tomato, and lots of cheddar cheese.1 point

Not all indigent people are worthless scumbags like the one who rented that house, but there are a lot who are. The problem is how do you know. I read a lot of the comments people posted saying how stupid the guy was for renting the property out through Section 8. More than likely that was the only people who would go live in that area due to the crime rate, so he really didn't have a choice. I find it amazing that the government was sending the landlord over $1k a month, and the tenant was only having to pay $53 a month. I know a bunch of hard-working middle class people who receive no government assistance, and they would be hard pressed to come up with $1k for rent. It is an absolute shame that our government is so irresponsible with the taxpayer's money. I am not exactly sure how Section 8 works, but I hope there is something in place were the landlord can report this tenant, and she becomes ineligible for any kind of housing assistance in the future. My view is that if someone is so irresponsible when they are receiving such generous taxpayer assistance, then they should be cut off and forced to provide for themselves.1 point

Sickening. It goes beyond gun control by Guv'mint, it is an attack individualism; that I as a rational, thinking human being pose a threat to the public safety because I can think and discern. Vigilantism? Free from gun violence? Law enforcement at greater risk due to assault and high capacity weapons? Loopholes and corrupt dealers? Straw purchase and innocents murdered? 12 year olds terrified of being shot and killed at school? Explain how or why this should impact ME. I take full and personal RESPONSIBILITY for my gun ownership and expect to be prosecuted if I break any of the thousands of laws on the books. Callous since I haven't been a victim of gun violence, perhaps. But I do not and will not place my safety or that of my family in the hands of Guv'mint or any other man.1 point

And that's fine, if what we've seen is any indication of how they do things they'd need 4 of them to every competent man. Shoot, I say man when I've met and trained with women who could make these chuckle heads scurry away like the cur they are. Still think this was staged/fake though. If SoujaBoy wasn't in the process of releasing an album I might look at it differently. With the info I have though, I'm having a hard time thinking this anything more than a publicity stunt.1 point

I would not call failing by 5 votes in the Senate necessarily as "getting their asses kicked". There were 54 yeas and 46 nays. Just about as close as the last two 5-4 decisions in SCOTUS on Heller and MacDonald. True, it wouldn't have passed the House (right now) I don't guess even if it had in Senate, but shows how close the balance on all this is, and if I think anyone who doesn't think there won't be successful anti-gun legislation passed in the future is dreaming. - OS1 point

RE: The McCain "respect" thing. I think we make mistakes passing out the term "respect" in lots of cases; and the McCain thing is one of them. Its important that "respect" be passed out for action that gained it. It is not "eternal" .... . It can be lost; and that is what has happened with McCain.. Said another way, respect is earned for the actions that precipitated that "respect"... It can be lost. It is not enduring. The fact of the matter is that john mccain is an old hippie with a backbone; nothin else. I dont like hippies on principle, and i damn sure dont like MCCain. Havin said that, i held my nose and voted for him because i couldnt stand the alternative that we have now. McCain is a genuine product of the rarified atmosphere that permeates the majority of the "Inside the Beltway Crowd" and the top echelons of the military. He symbolizes all that is wrong with politics today, both within the Republican party and politics in general. He believes everything he says is right and that us delightful rustics should bow down and do what he says.. period. John McCain is exactly like John Glenn. He is a shameless politico who has used military service as a stepping stone to political debauchery. He no more is a patriot today than i am an russian cosmonaut. He is an old statist, out to tell us delightful rustics what to do and what to think. After all, he is "...The best and brightest..." and we should bow down. I say pooey. Forget it.....I aint doin it; and i aint gonna honor anyone like McCain nor let him disarm me. Remember, military service doesnt translate to patriotism. It may translate to heroism, but it does not translate to patriotism. The Hessians were german mercanaries for the British in the Revolutionary War. non believin leroy1 point

I'm not a knife guy, but since you'll have your knife back in a few weeks, you might consider the Kershaw 1920 multitool. It's my carry around the house because I'm always needing a screwdriver. It opens one handed with a thumb stud and wrist flick. I have the model with the black blade. It looks a little better than the stainless look in this picture, in my opinion. The blade is pretty good... not great... but excellent for a $20 knife. The blade is 8Cr13Mov.1 point
