  1. I was having a beer or 3 tonight and thought I'd share this. Doesn't have a great ending or anything but here goes........       I had to go recliner shopping this evening. My old friend of the past 6 years went to the 'man cave in the sky' earlier today. As I was trying out a suitable replacement an older couple walked by followed by what I guessed was their son. I flopped the footrest down and we exchanged a hello as they walked by.   Now I'm deep in thought about making such an important purchase. This recliner isn't about me, it's about the dog. Is there enough room for him to lay beside me without me having to sit on the opposite arm of the chair so I'm not touching him? Will he have enough of a landing pad when he jumps from 10 feet away running at 100 mph? Is the footrest big enough for him to lay sideways on his back exposing his kibbles and bits for the world to see? Still I manage to notice something.   The son is wearing scrubs and semi pocket carrying a revolver, a big revolver. How do you semi pocket carry you ask?? You grip the big ass gun and stick most of it in your pocket. Next you leave the grip exposed above your pocket. How does the gun not just fall in or out of your pocket? You never take your hand off the grip is how!! I'm watching this guy walking around with a partially exposed gun in his hand.   I'm not gonna lie, when I first saw this it was hard to keep my hand from finding it's way under my shirt and on to the grip of my Kimber. So I stand there for a minute looking at this guy. When his Dad asked him something it was "yes sir". He's helping his mom by holding her purse while she fondles something. He's holding the purse with his left hand, right hand never comes off the grip. He sets the purse down and helps her sit on a chair she likes. Again, never lets go of what looks like a big S&W. Dad asked him another question, "yes sir". I'm thinking...seems like a nice guy but what the hell. So I ask.   Me: What ya got in your pocket? Him: Ahhh...S&W revolver. Me: Looks kinda big. Him: Yeah, a 629. Left my carry gun home. This is my truck gun. Me: Nice. Why you carrying it like that? Him: Didn't have a holster with me. Me: Guess you don't have enough pocket for it. Him: Pocket has a hole in it. Me: What?? Him: My pocket has a hole in it. Me: LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL Him: No, really. There's a hole in my pocket and that's why I'm holding on to it.   I've absolutely lost it laughing at this point because he's serious as hell. There was so much more I wanted to say to him but he walked off as the guy from the warehouse walked up and said my recliner was up front waiting for me.   Here's the best part. I'm sure I was the only person that noticed. There was at least 20 people walking around and no one paid any attention. Too busy doing their own thing. And I worry about printing sometimes.   The story doesn't have a happy ending. The dog won't get near the new recliner. Pretty sure it's going back tomorrow.

  3. We already have 3 parties.  The Democratic party, the Lesser Democratic party, and the TEA party.   Some folks refer to the Lesser Democratic party as the Republican party.  Not really sure why.

  5.   Since you ask, I would suggest you do a modicum of research before throwing up a rant using "facts" that are so obviously far from reality to be risible, and then never even returning to the thread to defend or concede those statements when called out.   One was so outrageous I saved link, where you claimed 2012 election fraud:   - because "no president in history ever won by 5 million votes" (of course quite a few have) and - that "Romney got no votes in North Carolina" (btw, he won the frigging state).   http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/71129-those-people-are-really-starting-to-pizz-me-the-hell-off/#entry1045270     - OS

  6. So, there is a new "Fuji Hibachi Express" in Cleveland. We decided to try it out tonight. Pulled up and saw a gun sticker on the door. I thought "oh hell". Then I realized it was an NRA sticker:) Sitting here eating very tasty food. Good prices ($5-$8 an entree). Very tasty and they have Thai and hibachi options. A few minutes after we got here this guy comes in open carrying. Must be a pretty gun friendly place to have an NRA sticker on the door. Would highly recommend this place. It is on Keith street across from Cooke's. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

  7. Government's purpose is to enforce the law and prosecute the BGs when they break the law   Well, when YOU are following all the laws, Government has little to no power over you.   So friendly Government simply passes more and more laws and regulations so it becomes quite impossible for you, as a productive individual and upstanding member of society NOT to break the law...How many federal, state and local laws on the books, thousands? You travel across state lines and the rules can change and you just broke the law (and get caught) Quit whining, tell it to the judge.    So now Government prosecutes with the threat of incarceration and pleas down to a hefty fine...I'm not a conspiracy guy, but it is all about the money. Government knows that if you follow the law, carry insurance, trying to provide for you and your family, have a home, have good work ethic and try to live by the Golden Rule, you probably got something they can get - money. Take the professional BG, they typically don't have tangible, attachable assets, so when you break the law, let the pillaging begin.   Let's say you got caught up in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong people which resulted in your interaction with Government being more feloneous in nature. Now Government will take all your stuff plus all the stuff it cost you attempting to defend yourself plus they will take away your right.   Once they take the right because you broke any number of the thousands of brain-dead "gun safety" laws on the books, you now can't legally protect yourself from oppressive Government and place yourself in it's power.   Sure they want more gun control laws. It's a good long-term strategy to make it harder for law abiding gun owners to abide by the law(s)   Please get out and vote, send emails to your elected officials and financially support 2A organizations!

  8. So...after we ate I mentioned the NRA sticker to our server. Turns out that he and his wife are the owners. She is from Thailand and he is from Cohutta.    Turns out that the NRA sticker was there from the previous business, but he is a member so he's leaving it. He also had a Glock 26 in his pocket. Very nice and friendly folks. It is also nice to find a "sit down" restaurant that you can eat at for under $20 for two if you wish.

  9. Only the ones that did the stealing.    BTW polygraphs are not accepted by the courts.   I had an employer trump up something was missing for a few days and then went around to each of us asking if we could take a polygraph.  I didn't know my rights then, but I said sure I don't have anything to hide.  I think I even said, you pay for it.   Turned out it was just a test to see who he thought he could trust.  He didn't have anyone take a test. The next week, he started having me make his bank deposit runs.

  13. It's enough that I think it's distracting to the overall experience on the site.   We've been thinking about trying to find a way to remove the Current Events and Politics section from the "New Content" feed.  It would still exist as a sub forum, but you'd actually have to choose to go there and participate.  Kind of a way to keep it for people who want to talk about it, but keep the 25 newest posts from being half taken by political stuff.   I don't have a problem with the political stuff, and to some extent it transcends our guns in importance of stuff we should care about.  But, this is a site for Tennessee gun owners.  I can discuss politics anywhere.

  17. I find it funny that Cruz's qualification on citizenship are in question with Obama sitting in the White House. ;)   But I agree, I really like this guy so far.

  18. Yes, that’s affordable considering you need to pay for the health care of three or four other families that are either living off the government or are illegals. Obama is intentionally trying to destroy this country, and this is just one of the ways that show it. He doesn’t have to worry about elections anymore and I don’t think you have seen the worst of it yet. Our representatives are allowing this. This is the best this country has to offer from those who vote.

  20. Give Buddy a call down at Southern Ballistic Research in Brunswick, GA. They're the group that Marty sent all his tooling and specs to when he went overseas. They built my 458 SOCOM barrel and my .338 Spectre barrel from pac-nor blanks. Great guys to deal with. http://www.sbrammunition.com

  21. When I built mine, the group I got my barrel from was very specific about providing the bolt along with the barrel to make sure it headspaced correctly.

  23. I bought the upper as well as the lower because a matched pair seemed to be generally approved of. I also bought the BCG because it was on the page and all the cool kids were doing it. I hope I did the right thing. Is there a particular reason it was offered as part of the buy?

  24. Thanks MacGyver for organizing the group buy.  The lowers do look pretty sweet!!

  29. Used the one shown today at the range on a 300 BO pistol it fng roared, i wore double ears to be safe, it didn't wake the neighbors like the miculek compensator did on a 556. The arfcom boys are arfcom boys. From what I've read most remind me of the mall ninja at his first IDPA. At least Noveske is making it right. I looked at mine for a bit last night, I think the fix is to do a light foam wrap around the outside to hold it in,versus it leaving grants pass on the brown trucks spinning in its cocoon making a ring till it hits the doors here in TN.I'm impressed w the USGS guys, great place to deal with.

  36. I am probably on the other side on this one.  While I don't think the government should be able to tell someone how much money they can or can't give, I do think our election process has been corrupted by special interests.  I don't really have a problem and in fact would like to know who paid for every ad for a politician.  I don't see why people are hiding behind this.  if you really believe what you are selling, you shouldn't have any issue with your name or organization attached to it.  The fact is, 60% of all ads are negative and usually only half the truth.  Maybe some disclosure would make them clean up some of this if they were worried about repurcussions. This would affect every Democrat as much as any Republican.  It is a level playing field on this one in my opnion.  I don't see why anyone would be against this unless it is trying to limit the amount of money they donate.  I thought that was already decided.   The normal person doesn't matter anymore.

  40. We got some .22lr in tonight. Only problem, it was sold within 30 minutes of it hitting the floor. Seems everytime I go by the sporting goods dept there is at least one guy asking"you got any 22 tonight?", only to be dissappointed by the gougers getting a 2 box limit and then having their buddies/family, buy the rest of it.   Kinda makes me sad, those that want to shoot can't, simply for not being in the right place at the right time.   If only people would stop buying from these gougers/re-sellers, then maybe everyone who wants to shoot will be able to.

  45. I use my shooting stick in ladder stands. I took a piece of 2x6 and drilled a hole that allows the tip of the shooting stick to rest in the block of wood. I just put this on the foot rest. It lets me have a lot more range of movement to get on the deer. I like to have the shooting stick walking in or out too.

  47. The article stated that the would-be assailant made a verbal threat as he approached the vehicle of the would-be victim.  My imagination did a little 'filling in' of the rest.  I'm thinking:   Would-be assailant, "If you cut me off, again, I'm going to beat your a**."   Would-be assault victim, "If you come at me with that fancy billy club, I'm going to shoot your a**."       I love that the police were on scene to witness that the HCP holder did nothing wrong, that they recognized his right to self defense and recognized that he was reasonably in fear of death or serious, bodily harm.
