Are people pics allowed? Maybe a little something different for you guys. :) *These are all photographs and not Photoshop. Photoshop was only used to polish. What you see is what I shot.*7 points

Or just don't buy it because it's not even that good of ammo to start with. People never cease to amaze me.6 points

I'm picking up various smaller fixed-blade knives lately and this one just arrived on Friday. I specifically hunted down the NIlox steel version of the DPx H.E.S.T. II because I wanted something with corrosion resistance that would hold an edge fairly well. There are other versions of this knife that don't use a stainless steel and instead rely on their powder coated blades and your common sense to keep them wiped down with oil to prevent rust from forming. I haven't bothered to see if anyone else on here has posted about the HEST or HEST II so pardon me while I just drop some knife porn...5 points

I know we have a lot of photographers here on TGO, myself included. There was another thread of this type a while back but it is so old a lot of the links to the photo hosting sites are no longer good so I thought that I would start a new thread so we could share our work with one another. Please contribute your own work. Here are a few of my favorites from the past couple of years. I don't care if you use my pictures for private use, I would appreciate a PM if anyone intends to use them for any other purpose. As I just mentioned in a previous post, I just purchased my very first camera and downloaded Photoshop + Lightroom. I haven't attempted Photoshop, but I have toyed around with Lightroom a bit. Nothing like the quality we've seen above, but here are a few of my first shots and attempts at playing with Lightroom.4 points

I cut my teeth in photography by being a photographer on the Dragon for three years. I saw a lot of wild stuff and I literally have hundreds of pictures to prove it but this is one of my favorites from that time in life. This happened to be a personal friend of mine who walked away from this accident completely unharmed. He landed on the side of the road, stood up, and yelled at me "did you get that?" And that is why I'm a firm believer in wearing good gear while riding motorcycles.4 points

I will have to turn on my PC tomorrow to get a few good ones but I have one I did on my phone a while back with one of my G Shock watches with my Jeep in the background. G-Shock actually used this pic for their background on their North American facebook page for a while.4 points

The 2 best tapes were far and above Darryl and Carol. I lost it when Darryl was standing there in her living room with that possum still in his hand, then Carol comes out dressed like June Cleaver talking about making casseroles and meeting the neighbors. This was the funniest episode they've ever done. :up:3 points

The ammo tax also helps pay for the ranges TWRA administrates, so others have a place where they can practice shooting. If you're going to get into a different forum, fine, your loss, not ours. But if you plan to stay around, enjoy our community, and benefit from it, I would suggest you don't come into someone elses house and proceed tell them what's what, immediately after saying hello.2 points

before it is all over you will pay sales tax on everything you buy from the internet. the governments has to get the money to pay for the bums.2 points

Hopefully in a year and a half we will have an administration who will actually combat ISIS instead of making excuses for them and not afraid to call them what they really are. Maybe then SNL can make a part 2 of the skit where daddys little girl is in Northern Iraq joking with her ISIS friends, turns around and is looking right in the muzzel of a 20mm chain gun on the bottom of an Apache helicopter, makes a funny remark right before she is suddenly dismantled.2 points

kinda stupid. If they really want to push it they should develop a skit making fun of mohammad in some way. Maybe an art school scene where their only teaching is how to draw mohammad cartoons. now that would be funny.2 points

Well.. we did it.. again.. This is Odie, he is our latest rescue pup! Adopted him from the local shelter 3 weeks ago, we had to wait a week to have him neutered so he's only been with us for 2 weeks. This was taken the day we got him home. They said that he was an owner surrender and they were told it was Lab/Pit mix. He looking nothing like a lab, I do see the possibility of Pit and I am thinking some sort of hound mixed in. His ears are absolutely ridiculous! They are starting to stand straight up now. Which is pretty hilarious. Way to skinny, so he needed to stay warm. He has since been fattened up and gained about 10 lbs. He is happy now! Here are some snow pictures too, this is the gang out romping around, I can share it, now that it's gone. Thank god. This is Floyd being a creeper across the pond, which froze totally over. "to kill massive amounts of people very quickly." Preaching to the choir.... This is the propaganda that the anti-gun people are spewing all over the media. First of all they are talking about the M-16. The AR-15 is a semi-automatic version not used by the military. Most importantly, the M-16 was NOT DESIGNED TO KILL! It was designed to save soldier's lives and win battles. The M-14 was designed to kill. They didn't care how heavy it was or how fierce the recoil was or how heavy the 7.62 ammo was. They just wanted a rifle that would deliver 5000 ft/lbs of muzzle energy and be accurate up to 800 yards. The M-16 was the first rifle in U.S history designed with the soldier in mind. It was light weight, low recoil with lighter smaller rounds so you could carry more ammo. It was designed to cover 0-300 yards. We have other weapons that will reach out to 800 yards. So to say that the AR-15 was designed to kill is just wrong. It is the son of a rifle that was designed to save lives and win battles.1 point

This is an update on the Ammo Ban. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/02/28/lawmakers-wont-be-silenced-over-obama-administration-proposed-ammo-ban/ Lawmakers are firing back at a proposal by the Obama administration to ban one of the most common bullets used with the popular AR-15 rifle, with more than 100 members of Congress signing a letter opposing the move on ammo. Word of the proposal by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to ban .223 M855 “green tip” ammunition came out on Thursday and prompted an immediate backlash from sportsmen. House members from both parties and some law enforcement officials were not far behind. “[The ban] will interfere with Second Amendment rights by disrupting the market for ammunition that law abiding Americans use for sporting and other legitimate purposes,” reads the letter signed by lawmakers and addressed to ATF director Todd Jones. The bullets, which can pierce bulletproof vests used by law enforcement, had previously been approved by the ATF in 1986. The agency now says that because handguns have now been designed that can also fire the bullets, police officers are now more likely to encounter them and so they should be banned. However, the congressional letter notes that the ATF provides no evidence of the bullet’s danger to law enforcement. “ATF has not even alleged – much less offered evidence – that even one such round has ever been fired from a handgun at a police officer,” the letter reads. Many police organizations are also not in favor of the ban. “The notion that all of a sudden a new pistol requires banning what had long been perfectly legal ammunition doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense to many officers,” William Johnson, executive director of the National Association of Police Organizations, told FoxNews.com NAPO represents over 1,000 police units and associations and 241,000 law enforcement officers around the country. Johnson added that the bullets currently banned under the law deserve to stay banned. “Some bullets… such as ones coated with Teflon, really are specifically designed to defeat bullet proof vests, and we think they should remain illegal,” he said. But some law enforcement experts support the ban. “I am definitely for the banning of these rounds… officers worry about them all the time,” former NYPD detective Harry Houck told FoxNews.com, though he added that a ban might not actually keep criminals from getting the ammunition. Gun control groups support the ban. "We understand why law enforcement has always been concerned about the threat of armor-piercing bullets," Dan Gross, president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, told FoxNews.com. Lawmakers warn that the regulation – especially as it follows on the heels of attempts to restrict lead bullets -- will “result in drastically reduced options for lawful ammunition users.” Already, the ammunition has been cleared from many store shelves by gun owners looking to stock up in anticipation of the ban. The proposed regulation would not prohibit owning the bullets, but it would stop anyone from manufacturing or importing them. Gun-rights groups also worry that the ban – if allowed to stand – won’t stop with this type of bullet. “Almost any hunting rifle bullet will go through body armor, so you could prohibit almost any rifle bullet with this. This is the administration redefining the law on its own,” Alan Gottlieb, of the Second Amendment Foundation, told FoxNews.com. The lawmakers also dispute the ATF’s legal authority to ban the bullets, saying that the proposed ban “does not comport with the letter or spirit of the law.” The law, which was passed in 1986, gives the agency authority to ban bullets that are “constructed entirely (excluding the presence of traces of other substances) from one or a combination of tungsten alloys, steel, iron, brass, bronze, beryllium copper or depleted uranium.” However, the congressmen say that the core of these bullets “contains a substantial amount of lead, raising questions about its classification as ‘armor piercing’ in the first place.” The congressmen also allege that the ATF violated government transparency requirements. “The Administrative Procedures Act… requires that ‘general notice of proposed rulemaking shall be published in the Federal Register…’ To date, [the proposed ban] has not been published in the Federal Register.” The ATF has announced that it is currently taking public comments on the regulation until March 16, when it will prepare to issue a final regulation. Comments can be sent to APAComments@atf.gov. An ATF spokesman emphasized that no final decision has been made yet. “No final determinations have been made and we won’t make any determinations until we’ve reviewed the comments submitted by industry, law enforcement and the public at large,” ATF spokesman Corey Ray told FoxNews.com. “The framework is… intended to protect law enforcement while respecting the interests of sportsmen and the industry,” he also noted.1 point

I'm sure tat the gougers can diversify enough to exploit two calibers. It was just a couple of years ago that we couldn't readily get handgun ammo in any caliber because of those a-holes.1 point

I just read on the Internet that the BATFE is now adding 550 paracord in with the M855 ban... something about people making ammo dump pouches that can potentially hold the banned rounds. Better run out and stock up on the 550 before it's too late.1 point

Ruger made a lever gun before in .44mag. The 96/44. It was so fugly nobody bought it. A lever action carbine is one of those things that really needs to be traditional to be successful.1 point

You have good taste dude. Those are three fine handguns. You have concealed carry covered and home defense. One of my favorite handguns to shoot is the .357 magnum version of the Ruger Bisley Vaquero. It is as accurate as any pistol I own. It's heavy enough to absorb the recoil of hot loads, so I can shoot it all day and I had to get a nice Cheyenne western rig for it.1 point

Marlin 336 W (non-walnut) remains quite inexpensive and available, still sells new well under MSRP at $375 or less at Wally, Academy, etc. Even the .44 isn't gouged too badly for the most part. But the .357 is far and away more in demand than any other lever gun caliber, has been for a long time now. - OS1 point

We have a 238...doesn't like some types of ammo. It likes ball ammo and Corbon hollow points with Barnes copper bullets. Small, solid, like a little 1911. I've tried Kahrs in 9mm and found them to be outstanding guns...some have said they like their 380's and that should be a very solid recommendation too. My wife likes the 238 because she can rack the slide...most of them she can't. So, try several and see what fits best. Best wishes, B1 point

I just wanted to share some photos I took of the Squared Away Customs "KILO" holster that I just received for my Glock 19. I wanted something in a minimalist vein but am not a fan of the Vanguard style of so-called holsters that only cover the trigger guard and nothing else. I wanted something that had strong positive retention, that didn't have a lot of bulk, and preferrably used a belt loop instead of a clip. When a friend on Facebook recommended the SAC Kilo, I gave it a shot and am very pleased with what made its way to my doorstep. They have the KILO for other handgun makes and models so if you're in the market for something similar, give them a look. Mark Lancaster, the proprietor of SAC, is cranking out some really nice gear.1 point
