  1. Went out this morning and seen 5 Hogs. Two of them went "Wee, Wee, Wee", all the way to the cooler. This little sow dressed at 150 pounds taken during a LEGAL hunt . Have a blessed day! Dave

  4. Just because you are a true believe doesn't mean that you want to die. God says to die is to gain: however, I still worry for my wife and family. I'm not afraid to die, but I do fear how I die. You can't reconcile forgiveness because you can't think as God does. That's a hard thing for people to grasp, and they complain that God doesn't do what we think God should do. Well, we aren't God.   Again, this isn't a good venue for this kind of conversation. This is best done face-to-face with someone who's well-grounded in the Bible; not religion. God isn't about a religion; he's about a relationship.

  5. I would have have said "atheist". Oh wait .... ;)   But seriously, I don't have to stay totally consistent with that ... iffen the shootin starts between you Christians and the Muslims in the streets, I reckon I'll shoot at the Muslims, since I already know English and all, and youse guys won't put me to death as a non-believer. ;)   - OS

  6.   I personally do not see it that way.  Scripture tells me to put my faith in Christ even over my life - all of it.  If not, why believe in Him the first place?   Now... do I have the ability....  I hope so.  I would live in shame the rest of my life otherwise.

Consider an M1A or perhaps an M1A Scout Squad.  I recently acquired one in Walnut and it's the bee's knees.  Haven't scoped it or reached out past 100 yards with irons yet but it is more than capable and I find myself questioning the need for any other rifles.   http://www.springfield-armory.com/products/m1a-scout-squad/

  13. This one is made from 1/8" 1095 carbon steel and has black canvas micarta scales with yellow G10 liners with kydex sheath. It has jimping on the spine just in front of the handle and up near the point for better grip during skinning. It's headed to Minnesota to it's new owner in a day or two.

  14. Denying him and telling a killer what he wants to hear are two very different things. Just like our laws; it’s all about intent. I’ll say whatever someone wants to hear if it keeps me alive. Anything less makes no sense.

  15.   ?? Fulmer was 11-5 against Bama.   And yeah, only 5-12 against FL, but 5 is a helluva lot better than zip in the last 11 years, huh? Plus one of them was on the way to a national championship.   So let's put Fat Phil's record in a bit of context here.   - OS

  17. I think with the difficulty we had getting the park carry law passed and signed into law shows the great difficulty we would have in legalizing carry in colleges and more so K-12 schools in this state with a handgun carry permit.  You will never get college carry legalized in a Constitutional Carry law in this state.  In roughly half the states you can carry on a college campus, with a license.  Out of that half, maybe ten you can legally also carry in K-12 schools, again with a license.   The politicians in this state somewhat tolerate the handgun carry permit system and like to throw a few crumbs toward improving it every so often so they get a vote.  It is important to remember that the House Speaker and the Lt Gov/Senate Speaker could have never allowed a floor vote on park carry.  The recent democratic house speaker never would allow floor votes on any bills that improved the handgun carry permit.   I think you'd have a greater chance in dropping the 'no guns' signs penalties for people with permits and maybe college carry with permits before you would ever get Constitutional carry.  With limited time during legislative session, that is what I would focus efforts lobbying for.   Gun rights organizations just need to work the best way that they can with committee chairs and other key legislative leaders, especially with realistic bills that make sense in improving the permit system.

  21. I've really heard the term "common sense gun laws" beaten to death in the past few days.  I really believe that this phrase was coined to 1) insult anyone that does not agree with the proposed measures and 2) subtly convince the uneducated, uninformed and the fence sitters that going against the proposed measure would defy logic.    I know that I am preaching to the choir here but only a fool would simply go along with any government proposal without examining the contents for themselves and drawing their own conclusions.

  22. Lets see, I have a P229, and a Glock 32 and 33.  I love the round, love the ballistics, and the recoil is snappy.  Reloading is a pain.  That dang neck makes it a challenge over a straight wall.    Regarding the ballistics, do some research on why many Police dept went the way of the 357 Sig.  If I ran across a 33 at a throw away price, I probably would add to my normal rotation.    Cost to shoot, I give it a D.

  23. I have had a Glock 33 and a Sig P229 in it. After I traded into the G33, I read online about how brutal and snappy the round was in the small G33. I simply didn't have that experience with it. I have large hands and didn't have any grip extensions on it and had no problem holding onto it. Didn't really notice any more recoil than any other sub-45 caliber pistols I'd shot. Admittedly, I didn't shoot my P229 very much but it was an older German made one and I really liked it. Carried both at times. It's basically a .357mag in a .40s&w platform. I never attempted to reload it. Bottleneck cartridge promotes more reliable feeding. That along with the improved penetration is why THP carries it. .357sig is what the tactical kool kids carry ;) I got away from it simply to consolidate calibers, I still think it's an awesome round.

  24. I learned many years ago not to fear death so long as it is quick. What I have also learned over the years I have become more afraid of life than I fear death. What the medical industry considers life is any brain activity what so ever, breathing and heart beating. To me that is not life, but existence.  That is my worst fear. If I am to die let me die fighting with honor and dignity and not a lab experiment.......................JMHO

  32. Believe me, I will.  This gun has a bit of a story behind it... I just really started getting to know my dad back in May (I'm 30), and we started because I found out he had been diagnosed with ALS.  We are trying to make the most of what time he has left.  The fun thing is that I am virtually his clone in many, many ways.  I am also getting to know my two sisters through this process.   All of the guns I currently own have come from a grandfather, my great-grandfather, my father-in-law, and my father.  None of them will ever be sold.   Brandon

  33. Some people justify abortion in their minds because they are told by pro-abortion folks the fetus is not really a life until it's viable outside the womb. They go on about their daily business since abortion was deemed legal by the courts. Taking something that anyone agrees is a problem but is disinterested in solving is drunk driving. Over 10,000 each year are killed by alcohol related accidents but were's the proportional outrage? It's crystal clear this is not about solving gun violence, it's all about disarming the general public.

  34. Are there no shops that produce aerospace parts in your area? With your aircraft experience I would think you would be a prime candidate. Don’t limit yourself to machine operator, your skills may get you an entry level position in Quality. Have you submitted a resume to the headhunters in your area? I hear all the time that there are no jobs, but Aerotek Nashville calls me all the time. There is one in your area. http://www.aerotek.com/locations/united-states/tennessee/knoxville.aspx

  36. I would redefine your purpose for the bag.  I see a lot of good idea fairy stuff in there.  If it is a get home bag you need to focus on that.  If it is an always be prepared bag you are doing awesome!  In my opinion you should be able to move 20 miles on foot in 5 hours over improved roads.  Double that if you are going through "the woods".   If it is a get home bag I suggest the following.   Add a pair of hiking boots. +1 extra socks +1 TP Maybe a small bottle of bug spray.  Small like 1 - 2 ounces.   Get waterproof topo maps.  They will cost you a few bucks, but are worth it.   I would ditch the stainless cup, Nalgene and Platypus in favor of something like a Stanley Adventure 32 oz Multi-use bottle/cup.  Or if you are a baller get a titanium one.   I would ditch the filter and rely on tablets or bleach with boiling as a back up for water purification.   I would ditch the candles or road flares in favor of chemical warmers like Hot Hands.  Ever tried to control shock on the move with candles or road flares? I would ditch the fire steel and get more Bic lighters.  If you are worried about redundancy pack two.  If you are worried about water intrusion put the second one in a waterproof container.  If you are worried about cold put it in your armpit before use.  Then I would put a 9V battery and some steel wool in my pack as an alternate.  Esbit cubes and stove is killer.   I would ditch the poncho, tarp and bivvy in favor or a set of lightweight Frogg Toggs.  I think you are well covered with chemlights, a headlamp and a spare flashlight.  Good job.   I would discard your entire PSK. Insect headset looks like a pain in the butt.   I would ditch the para cord in favor of a spool of 40# braided fishing line. I would ditch the waxed thread. Zipties and Gorilla tape are bomber. N95 mask is a good idea. Write in the rain paper is cool. Ditch the pen.  Add a pencil or two. Ditch the sharpener, use your knife. Cool knife sharpener, hard to imagine you would need to sharpen a knife after only a few hours. Ditch the entire REI bag except the compass and add a few more Cliff bars.

  38. Hexamine fuel tablets are also good things to have. Or making your own "fuel jelly" aka napalm. I have road flares, baked thermite cubettes and chem lights (IR and regular) with my bug out stuff. Bonus with hexamine is it is a simple science experiment away from becoming an explosive compound. Hauling a telescoping sledge or bolt cutters can get heavy - but a little HMTD charge will take care of a door/bolt. Granted that is the Blaster in me that would rather slap charge open a door than cut a chain. Other than that good list of stuff. GPS and topo maps and a good compass with take you far. Id even add one of those stupid "tacticool" airsoft helmets. Itll keep you from cracking your noggin and the Ops Core-style rails you can attach more lights on it or anything with a rail. Tie downs and dummy-cording stuff you dont want to loose is important. Train as you fight! Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

  40. I have a gripe about headlines like that.  It gives the impression that Waffle House has a company-wide policy, which is inaccurate.  It was a single restaurant owned by a moron.  When I was a LEO, I was never told to disarm at any of the Waffle House restaurants I ate at.     Now, if one wants to gripe about the general policy prohibiting firearms (except for law enforcement), that is a different story.

  41. Not sure if it is possible but if you want your AR to be 100% reliable in a SHTF I would see if an AK47 will fit inside the grip. That would be the one the to make my "fighting" AR more reliable. In all seriousness I would put a extractor spring, rubber o-ring, cam pin and disconnector in the grip. Those would fix 90% of the issues a currently reliable gun gun might have. And if you have room toss a spare bolt in there.
