I heard my name mentioned..... Look, if you want to learn some skills for solving lethal force interpersonal conflict without getting yelled at, belittled or made feel like you don't belong here then I've always got room for another student in class. If you want a "boot camp" or high school lunch room experience or fraternity house hazing experience while someone tells you how bad ass they are ...then I'm NOT your guy. I don't need to make myself feel good by trying to belittle students or to prove to anyone how bad ass I am.... I'm here to make YOU more bad ass than you were before you came to class. And that can be done without the over the top histrionics. If people are interested........they know where to find me.7 points

Here is a good video which addresses both instructor zero and the infamous Yeager, once you get halfway through to the range demonstration. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBaISwLnrgo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBaISwLnrgo ETA- Warning: Some language and scantily clad ladies.7 points

I know this is about Electric smokers , but I made an old school Pit from concerete foundation blocks and didnt even cement them toagther. I just layed them on top of each other and use two pieces of plywood for the top. It makes such awesome BBQ . The Blocks were $50 for a bundle and everything else was just cheap scrap wood ,expanded metal and rebar . I use an old 50 gallon drum barrel to burn my wood in . I cut small hole to get my shovel inside it and then shovel the wood coals over to my pit. Here is the pit and drum barrel . Its was cheap to make and will last several decades. Here are some chickens and three pork shoulders . The chickens take me 5 hours and the shoulders take around 10-15 hrs depending on thickness. I use Oak wood and Hickory Wood. It's a shame that Critical Incident Strategies isn't still around. Todd and Dustin had a way of presenting good training that was applicable to 99.999% of what the average Joe needs to know about surviving an incident and they managed to do it without profanity, a boisterous YouTube channel or shopping for clothes at The Buckle. The reports that I have heard coming back from students of Randy's (Cruel Hand Luke) classes are nothing but glowing with praise and I have likewise heard excellent things about Tom Givens and Reid Henrichs. (By the way, Tom has been in the industry for about 25 years and knows a thing or two about gunfighting from first-hand experience.) We're rather fortunate in Tennessee to have reputable trainers close and accessible to us. We're also in close proximity to some folks I'm not an advocate of.4 points

Our forefathers faced similar oppressive taxation, albeit not in the form of "healthcare reform". They did something about it too. I wonder when the American taxpayers will finally hit the limit of what they are willing to put up with?3 points

Of the ones mentioned I would pick Reid. I would also suggest you get a hold of Cruel Hand Luke. He supports this forum by being a vendor. He also regularly passes along his knowledge on the forum as well.3 points

No, we just had a policy through them for our family's coverage. Paid roughly $500/month for good coverage, albeit with an $11000 family deductible. As a small business owner for the last 10 years, we've definitely become informed consumers of healthcare. I think what really makes my wife mad is that we've really been careful consumers of healthcare. And now, as usual we're being punished for making careful choices as we float this doomed experiment. I could have the healthcare system fixed by breakfast tomorrow morning and still get a good night's sleep tonight. Problem is the system is rigged. We the people are going to lose.2 points

Funny how no one can explain how if Bush was supposedly so anti 2nd Amendment but yet he put ZERO effort into renewing the AWB in 2004.....it was simply allowed to go away and that was that.... Do we really think that if he REALLY wanted an AWB renewal that he would not have suggested to Tom Delay (the speaker of the house at the time) that they allow the renewal to happen and to come to a vote? So did he just "forget" to get an AWB done on his watch? Or was he saying what he felt he had to say to get elected and allow the Republican controlled congress to do their job? The "fix was in" on the AWB expiring and most people in the industry knew that it was NOT going to get renewed according to what Tom Delay's office was telling us in the summer of 2004. There was NO support for it from the White House and they (the speaker's office) were making sure that it did not get support in the congress......2 points

Sorry to rain on your parade, but Bush would have signed the assault weapons ban in a heart beat. He also supported mandatory background checks on all gun sales.... Also, the landmark Heller v DC court case, Bush's DOJ fought tooth and nail to support the complete handgun ban in Washington for more than 4 years. Don't believe me, here is Bush in his own words, complaining about the AWB not being renewed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xh8oubGJo8M BTW, John Kasich who is currently running for President as a Republican helped round up 48 republican votes in the house to get the AWB passed in the first place.... Just a quick note, Kasich, even though he campaigned and voted for the AWB, has an A rating from the NRA, whats wrong with that picture?2 points

I've taken courses at Yeager's place, along with a Army SF guy I know. Yeager himself didn't have too much to do with our course, more the people he has working there (such as Reid at the time). FWIW, I didn't get yelled at, or anything of the sort. Is Yeager someone I'd want to hang out with? No. But I took the course because of who worked there, not really because of him. I learned a lot, and even more impressive to me is the SF fella told me he learned as well, which really stood out to me. I don't care where you do your training or with whom you do it with. I'm not paying for it, I don't care. I'm definitely not telling you that some of the things posted in this thread aren't absolutely true. I just figured since I had actually taken a class there I should speak up. I will personally do my training from here on at Valor Ridge because I'm a fan of Reid's attitude and ethic. As far as the Zero vs. Yeager thing, as far as I know (and I believe the video Zero posted said) Zero does not train civilians, so that comparison is apples to oranges. As far as background, it's my understanding that Zero has a pretty extensive background with Special Forces and private security type folks. So again, apples to bowling balls Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

The training classes at Royal Range in Nashville should be up and running by the spring. The training provided by their head trainer will be top notch. No silly videos or fluff, just good solid foundational training.1 point

In my experience, I've found the people that know what they're doing- whether it's metalwork, leatherwork, horse training, firearms training, etc are out there doing it and not making internet videos of themselves doing it so they can "prove" that they know what they're doing. Todd and Dustin had a good thing going, and didn't need goofy videos to prove it.1 point

I don't have cable and so I watch TWD with friends at their house. My first comment as Morgan was heading out the door to leave the cabin was, "Be danged if I'd leave that place behind to go wandering around among walkers, again. He wouldn't have to stay there alone, as Eastman cautioned him against doing. Instead, I'd use it as a base to start a community. The first thing I'd do is go and find those two people he saved and bring them back there." I know they wanted to get Morgan back with Rick and his group but I think it would have been more interesting if Morgan had ended up bringing a few people to the cabin and training them in Aikido just as Eastman trained him before he left. They could have expanded the gardens, etc. and - once they were established and he knew they could protect themselves and that Eastman's cabin wouldn't be going to waste - then Morgan could have told them one day that he was leaving. Even if he had only brought those two people he encountered in the forest back and helped them get set up to feed and defend themselves it would have been more satisfying. Instead, it was like, "All life is precious but not precious enough for me to postpone my walkabout for a few weeks to save those two, obviously good people who I just ran across in the woods and possibly even start a safe haven/community that could be here even after I am gone."1 point

If our economy isn’t fixed the 2nd amendment won’t matter. I couldn’t possibly care any less what a Federal government candidate thinks about the 2nd amendment; that fight has been fought and will be left up to our state legislators. I care what they can do for the economy at the Federal level. So I certainly won’t be voting for any Democrats I’ve seen.1 point

I've been looking at a Winchester Model 250 lever action in 22LR, but I've never owned one or known anyone that has. Does anyone know anything about these rifles? All I really know is that they were made from '63 until 2005. How accurate are they? dependable? Any help appreciated.1 point

Can you really trust any politician to do what they say they will do once elected? I think for the most part they all speak out both sides of their mouths and as the Indians use to say Speak with Forked Tongue!!!! They will tell you what they think you want to hear depending on who they are talking to just to get that vote! Once they get elected the very first time they automatically become eligible for all the benefits they will receive for life when they leave or get kicked out of office by the people that vote them out because of the first lies. We have a man in the Oval office that has blatantly lied to the American people with every speech he has ever made and everyone knows it yet no one in Washington does anything about it. His most recently lie arises last week with No Boots on the Ground in Syria he made in 2013. How about if you Like your Insurance you can keep it!!! that was a whopper that he knew was a lie yet he kept saying it. Now we have a Female Democrat running for President that has been caught in more lies than most can count and yet is still in the lead in the polls for her party. I say until the people begin to hold all of their feet to the fire it will remain a status Quo.......jmho1 point

Thanks for the tip! I found some of this and you are correct on all counts. The salt was one major drawback for me with Tony's, but the flavor is better also. I'll be frying up some crappie soon and I'll be adding this to my homemade fish fry mix. :up:1 point

I'm sorry for your loss but you may be in luck I think there are more than 2 gems here. -Doesn't look like the 5100 is in great shape I would expect it to bring around $250 in current condition, possibly a little more if you clean it up. -That 03A3 is a Remington 1903 I'm no expert on the different nomenclatures of 1903s, you need to have someone that is an expert on them take a look at it so you know exactly what it is, it wouldn't surprise me if that gun brings $1000 from what I see on GB. -That DM 101 I think should bring around $250. There are two on GB that are in better shape for $350 but there are no bidders. -If that Sport King is as clean as it looks it may bring around $400, these are superb shooters. -Your 1911 could bring better than $2000 that's another one you need to get a professional opinion of, I'm just a guy on the internet. -Lastly, your 15-4, I think you will see $400-500 out of it. Please don't rely on anything I've said, I'm shooting out these prices based on what I've seen and a little help from GB, I'm just trying to give you an idea of what they may bring.1 point

I grew up in Mt. Juliet and spent a lot of time in Lebanon with my grand parents. I've lived elsewhere since 2004 and moved back to Mt. Juliet this summer. Well, Lebanon isn't the bigger of the two towns anymore and the whole county has been saturated with tons of people moving in from other places. Unfortunatley it seems that most of them are yuppie liberals that didn't like it where they lived and want to make our home exactly like where they came from. Mt. Juliet was more or less an agricultural community when I was growing up but now there are very few farms left. We traded all of our farms for yuppie housing, if that's not depressing I don't know what is. I did see a tractor on Mt. Juliet road between Walmart and Providence during rush hour, made me laugh when I thought about how many of those yuppies must be mad about being stuck behind a tractor.1 point

If it has Made in Tennessee stamped on the frame I'll add it to the "To Buy" list otherwise probably not. But FWIW I do consider it a solid upgrade to the 92FS I have stashed away in the gun safe. I'm not letting it get away either, it might be big and clunky but it goes bang every time I want it to and is more accurate than I'm capable of proving with it.1 point
