  2. Not a good move, but it is on all of us to make sure a weapon is unloaded when handling. I would be upset as well, but I don't trust anyone who hands me a gun that I haven't seen cleared. If they took the gun without checking it, they are just as much at fault.

  5. Ok, I couldn't run out of the hospital fast enough. I was out of the hospital in under an hour from the time I woke up. I am on my way home now. No lifting for six weeks so if anyone needs anything from me it will be at least that long. But if you want to call feel free to do so, I have about six weeks worth of boredom to deal with. Right now it feels like I have been in a rough bar fight with about a 1/2 dozen dudes. Definately did not win either.

  7. Here is a rifle you do not see everyday...A Ruger #3 Carbine in .30-40 Krag. This was another one of the guns I picked up in the estate sale. It also came with a letter from Ruger. This would make a great little deer gun. 13. This bill is simply one more piece of proof that this supermajority isn't good for anyone in the state of Tennessee.  Representatives should actually be required to work for their constituents and earn their votes...

  18. I sold a couple of Glocks to a member here. Rushed myself and left a round in the chamber of one. Goes to show no matter how long you've been handling firearms, a mistake can be made. I've apologized profusely but no reply. Don't make an idiotic mistake as I did. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk

  20. Sounds like a lot of good things will be coming. Funny, I have sat in 2 days of meetings focusing on a lot of changes we are making. I was dead set against it until we got into what the changes can do for us. Now I'm excited and can't wait to get the new processes in place. I guess I've changed in the fact I now like change. Haha.

  23. Let me see if I understand this correctly... It is a crime for a person to carry around a loaded gun in this state. However, if you pay the state money they will give you a permit that will require private business owners to recognize your 2nd amendment rights? Is that what some of you are wanting? Because to me that’s a sign of a thug government and something a liberal Democrat would come up with. I’m not okay with pitting us against business owners just because it’s a pro-gun issue; that’s a fight we will lose. Nothing good can come out of it until THE STATE recognizes our second amendment rights. And the last time I checked rights were for all the people; they were not for sale. It would never hold up in court anyway.

  28. So I was up doing laps around the bed and decided to snap a picture. I didn't even know I was pregnant but with the screwing I took six months ago I figure it looks about right. Just hope I am not going to be giving birth in another three months. I have two small incisions on either side of my belly button and they feel no more sore than when I got shot. The one that hurts like a mother is the incision where they went through my belly button, it is still stinging. The area where the mesh is hurts no worse than before, at least right now. I suspect that will change tomorrow. Thanks for all the kind words, thoughts and prayers.

  29.   It is absolutely ludicrous to me that a public service official doesn't know the damn difference between a privilege (driving) and a right (self defense.)  I think it is ludicrous that some, such officials seem to believe that they are qualified to determine who should be allowed to be best equipped for self defense and who should not.  I also think it is ludicrous that this guy - who should know better than most - seems to be stupid enough to believe that forcing people to take a test, etc. before being allowed to exercise a right will stop criminals from carrying illegally and doing illegal things with the illegally carried weapons.

  31. I tend to amass Glock 19s rather than part with them.  It seems silly at first to keep more than one of them, but when you stop and think about how damn practical they are, it makes more sense.  I have them scattered about now, in vehicles, a couple of places in the house, etc.  There's something to be said about having a standard weapon platform with plenty of mags and holsters and such always at your fingertips.   Keep it.  :)

  33. You need a smart knife, or is it you need to be smart WITH the knife. Aw heck just sue them and add the manufacturer of what you were trying to cut too. It shouldn't have needed cutting and was probably bad for the environment! Or suck it up, super glue it and think about it every time you pick up a knife from now on.

  35.   It simply makes it clear that a biz that allows you to carry your gun can't be held liable when you shoot the joint up. :)   Seriously, really the opposite of original intent of the bill, where if you were disallowed to pack, biz could be held liable if a baddie hurt you.   - OS

  36. The company sent me some renderings of what the finished product will look like. I took it a step further and did my own rendering in Photoshop to convey that "negative space" in the design will be stainless steel showing through. The black areas are laser engravings, permanently etched into the tumbler in black. This is just the RTIC tumbler but I have both this and the ORCA in 30oz sizes coming to me so that I can take photos and post for you all to see and then begin ordering.

  37. After helping out my dad yesterday I had some free time to get in to the forge. So I tapped my inner Viking for this build. The runes are Thurisaz for defense and destruction, Uruz for speed and strength, and Tiwaz for honor and leadership. Handle is 29" of seasoned oak. Mild steel body and 5160 bit. The blade is 3" wide, and the head is 7" from back of eye to the edge of the bit. It will shave hair pretty easily after splitting 4 pieces of seasoned oak firewood. I'm damn proud of this one. 39. Shooting at 100 yards now at 54 I have to aim at the center of the target using iron sights, even a 3" bullseye fades away at that distance. I have always worn strong prescription glasses and get an exam every year from the VA. Actually the VA does the most thorough eye exam I have ever had. My prescription hasn't changed for years but I can tell my eyes, as bad as they always were can't focus well anymore, or stay focused. I guess old farts need optics at a distance.

  40. Welcome! We do have several gun shops here. The 4 I can name off my head are Guns & Ammo, Classic Arms, Fair Arms, and Range USA. There is also Medic Arms but I've never been there personally. Guns & Ammo is our oldest and is well established. Classic Arms is my favorite hang out FFL. They are very friendly. I go there often just to shoot the breeze. Range USA is our indoor pistol range. They have a cafe inside and is a great place to go for pistol shooting. Fair Arms is our NFA shop. There is a new one called Richard's Arms or something, but I have not been there yet. There is a outdoor gun range/club called Midsouth Sports Shooters Association or MSSA. It's a membership range, but has all the ranges at all the various distances you can imagine. Thry also have cowboy action and skeet ranges. You've come to the right forum! I'm new to the forum, but in my short time, it has been a great resource. Glad you were able to join us here on the forum and in the free states! Glad to have you!

  42. So as a group we can grew food and grain, hunt & fish, preserve these food stuffs, fix most things likely to still be running in a SHTF situation. Run a distillery and brewery, have some entertainment from Groot, sounds like a party and I'll bet that we'll be glad that there is basic medical care in the morning... Sarcasm aside. We all have skills some we don't even recognize as valuable. Maybe the biggest skill is the ability to see what needs to be done and either do it or find someone who can. Organization and team building (leadership) might just be the most important of all. Many of our retired military gave those skills and they would be invaluable in a crisis.

  43. The aging process is NOT for sissies.  You'll just have to find out what works for you.  A visit to the dr might help provide some insight to the situation with your wrist, and a visit to an eye doctor should help solve the vision issue(s).  Getting some glasses just for shooting may/may not help, cheapo readers may or may not work.   I've worn corrective lenses since I was 13, now staring at 61 pretty hard, tri-focals for the last 5 yrs or so, I bump into small things w/o my glasses.  I can see door frames and such, but not much more.  I don't shoot hang guns much but I didn't have any trouble focusing on the sights/targets about 60 days ago, the last time I shot a handgun (9mm and .22 MKII).  My arms get tired from holding a handgun in the shooting position too, but no "burning sensation" like you mention.     I have noticed lately that I feel like I need higher power scopes on my rifles so I can see the holes in the targets, especially at the 200 yd mark. 100 yd target is ok right now.   I have a cheapo 45x spotting scope, and it is just barely adequate at 200 yds, is it the cheapo part, or that it's only 45x, time will tell when I try out some new spotting scopes sometime in the future.

  44. Enfield,   I have dislocated my shoulder twice (which damages the rotator cuff most of the time) and have crappy rotator cuffs on both shoulders.   When I am consistent with my physical therapy I don't have any trouble.  When I skip it for a while they start aching.  Also, if I haven't been shooting for a while, I have to build up some muscle endurance.   All of my shoulder phys. therapy revolves around strengthening the muscles of the shoulder as well as keeping mobility in the joints

  45. The front sight is the important one for defensive ranges.  Be happy you can see it.  :D   I put laser grips on my carry gun due to dim (mer) vision.  I'm wondering how much recoil I can stand now that I have tendinitis in my shoulder.  Getting old sucks, but really they're all just minor annoyances.

  47. Go by the VEHICLE not the tire.  The vehicle is designed to run a certain pressure.  They take into account the maximum payload the vehicle is designed to carry.  Over inflation (as stated) causes the center of the tire wear more than the edges and if nothing else, it can and will make it ride like a hay wagon.  The flex of a tire is part of the vehicles total suspension and has a LOT to do with ride quality.  Been doing tires over a decade now and I can't tell you how many rough riding cars I have fixed simply by PROPER inflation.

  48. My daughter asked me yesterday if we could go shooting, this only took 21yrs to happen :).   Her only experience with a gun prior to today only involved a squirt/nerf/bb gun.   So I pulled out 3 pistols, ammo and range bag and went out into the backyard, started off with a bodyguard 380, shot several mags with/out the laser, then broke out the 9mm's, first was a Beretta 92F, then a PX4 storm compact, shot a couple 100rds, her favorite was the 92F, as we were finishing I told her to sit still because I needed to go back to the house to get something, as I return she was puzzled by me holding a rifle and a mag, I was in hurry up training mode as it was getting dark, I told her to shoot 10rds one at a time (not in the video), then had her rotated the selector, the giggling made me remember my first time shooting FA.....best hour I've spent in a longtime...   https://youtu.be/ZWPSUnW9d2U
