  1. Just seen this story: https://www.americanhunter.org/articles/2016/6/2/elephants-cape-buffalo-attack-caught-on-camera/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=insider&utm_campaign=0516 A Cape Buffalo can weigh in at 1300 lbs., and its tossed around like a rag doll. Dang, hate to get an elephant ticked at me!

  2. Of course - the framers made a typo when writing the bill of rights - they meant to write "bare arms" not bear arms. It all makes sense now

  3. Interesting. I work my truck hard and that would be a problem for me. Realistically many 1/2 ton trucks are used more like cars now and many won't see these problems but they will get the advantage of the light weight. It all depends on your use...

  4. Saw that on the BookFace earlier. Didn't have the heart to tell the woman that meat is going right back where it came from for someone else to actually buy.

  5. Finally got home and got my Magic in hand (holy crap do I love this knife). I would like to match its serial number. So #10 it is for me.

  6. Pretty much sums it up for me as well. I've owned GM and Ford trucks and recently bought an F-150 Supercrew. I use a truck to haul people and tow stuff and tend to protect its bed. A good bed liner http://www.weathertech.com/techliner-bed-tailgate-protection/ would eliminate worriers on either truck.

  9. Went to Ollies this morning to burn up an expiring coupon. While there, I pursued the book section and found a stack of "Blue Book of Gun Values" by Fjestad. They are the 36th edition dated 2015. They are priced at $12.99. I picked one up for model reference more than gun value. I also wanted it so that I can look smart, and snap off prices to Steelharp when he finds treasures!

  10. I guess I simply don't get it. If 2A memorialized the right to "bear arms" how does that allow restrictions on HOW those arms are borne? If I choose to carry openly or concealed is not relevant to the 2A. I'm a simple guy, some say simple minded...but this nit picking cap just rubs me the wrong way.

  11. Remember it's not hollywood. This thug with a knife is getting hammered with rounds and still closes in 25 feet or so before being stopped by the cop. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=1f1_1465252375

  12. Bigger bear visited the side of the house last night about 9pm. Had the coon trap set again for a second coon, I don't know if 2 apple cores and a half a banana attracted him or not but he knocked it over. I decided to give up racoon trapping for now.

  13. Exactly. Our gun rights and the 2A itself are very much on the line with this election.

  15. My everyday truck is a Chevy. But I got two fords on the farm. A 03 f150 and a 95 f450 flatbed. The f450 is a real truck. The abs went out on the 150 and it took five weeks to get the part from the dealer. I would sale the 150, but it only got 46k miles and it seves a propose when I need it. Last year I sold a f250 & f350. Just got tired of working on them. Ford 6.0 diesel is junk. They should stayed with the 7.3. So no matter the brand they all got problems.

  19. I'd rather have the Chevy as the Ford. All the Chevy's I have owned over the years have been very easy to resell and get my money back. Take the Chevy, sell it, buy a Toyota and be happy with a GOOD truck.

  23. What I got out of it: learned alternative ways to defend myself against an unarmed assailant who may not need to be shot. Got a free magic spear and helmet Learned basic building blocks for how manage an up close and personal armed assailant and aggressively make space. Mr. Miyagi was right, wax on wax off... simple blocking moves work at slow speed. With practice, no reason to believe it won't work in real speed. Made a new friend, Erik88, and knew everyone else from previous training events. Rained, kept it cool, add an extra training dynamic focusing on more positive footing and foot placement, at no extra charge. Reminder to practice mag changes, especially in my MK9 Winning a knife- on- knife fight probably means you lived 3 more days.....knives, when used as a weapon, are scary.

  24. Gallatin gun club is NRA only. Last time I heard the waiting list was about 3 years. Like it or not, the NRA is the 800 pound gorilla when it comes to the second amendment and I'm glad as to which side they are on.

  28. Also check out the Canik clones of the CZs. They come in at a more attractive price and seem to be about as good but the trigger is standard CZ. I have a C-100 which is a clone of the CZ 75B compact. Academy Sports seem to be the only ones in Clarksville to carry them.

  29. I don't think it matters which you buy, or if you buy a full-size, compact or subcompact. You will likely get hooked and buy more. And then other CZ firearms. CZ's are addictive. Prepare to make room for more of them in your safe. You have been warned.

  30. We go through similar conversations any time a new range opens up... "They won't let me shoot reloads there? I'll never darken their doorstep!" "They require me to buy and shoot their ammo? I'll never darken their doorstep!" "They require a safety class before letting me shoot on their range? I'll never darken their doorstep!" "They won't let me do rapid-fire shooting on their range? I'll never darken their doorstep!" "They won't let me shoot my .454 Casull on their range? I'll never darken their doorstep!" "They won't let me shoot my NFA items on their range? I'll never darken their doorstep!" "They won't let me shoot human-shaped targets on their range? I'll never darken their doorstep!" "They charge HOW much? I'll never darken their doorstep!" "They won't let me shoot from a draw? I'll never darken their doorstep!" "They won't let me take head-shots on the targets? I'll never darken their doorstep!" Guess what, folks. There are plenty of people who will do whatever the requirements are to shoot on a state of the art facility. Clearly the people signing the big fat check to build the range get to dictate whatever terms they want. It's a free country. The NRA isn't perfect but no organization is. Church, fraternity, civic organization, take your pick. All have detractors. Only the NRA has a pimp-ass state of the art shooting facility about to be built in Murfreesboro. Besides, for each of you who say you won't shoot there, that's one more person I don't have to wait in line behind when I want to go shoot.

  31. Well........sort of. You have to own real estate in one of those two counties and also prove that you occupy that property "part time". Even then the time it takes to get a permit in NY varies greatly depending on the county. Last time I spoke to anyone that knew Broome county was at 6 months+/-. Much of that is the 3 backround checks, county, state police, & FBI. All are done separately using one of 5 sets of finger prints taken at application. Three people must provide character references for you all must be NY residents and preferably within the county of application. There is more but you get the point. So you see its really not much of a possibility after all. This is one of the many reasons I moved to TN...

  32. I can't imagine any good reason not to be in the NRA right now. If nothing else isn't it worth $35 every year to see so many liberals piss themselves over the NRA? If you're a gun owner, and you aren't in the NRA you seriously need to ask yourself what you are doing to ensure our 2A rights for the future.

  33. There is absolutely no telling where gun laws would be right now without the new and more intractable NRA that has evolved since the AWB. Indeed, if membership falls, that simply means less voter power to hold over the heads of pols nationwide that will support more and more restrictive gun rights. It's amazing what the NRA has been able to influence with only its 5 million or so members currently. Think if there were 25 million. I'm thinking that with the continuing wimpification of America, that 5 mil won't be nearly enough to sway the anti-gun sentiment translating to law (especially federal) ere long. - OS

  34. Knock the NRA but who else does what they do? No other organization is as large or politically powerful.

  35. I bet they will. Ronnie has taken some pretty positioned stances before and I can see them doing this. He won't sell his 50cal to the State of California for example. He said if the people can't have them, he wouldn't sell them to the State either. While the NRA isn't perfect, they certainly do more than almost any other organization to help protect 2A.

  36. Thanks Luke for all the tips....and for trying it first  I was more worried that once I got started, I would go with the wrong color for base coat, not like the design half way through, or have an image in my head and hate it on the rifle. So! I just started painting with no idea whatsoever in my head and went with it. I used Rustoleum flat camo in the following colors: Sand, Army green, and Dark Earth. Sprayed the crap out of it with brake cleaner and let dry. Tape over the trigger and serial number (Not sure why, but I did). First light coat of OD green After 2nd coat of OD green And here is the part where y'all get to cuss me for skipping pictures. (I know, I hate it too) But I got into it, and moved back and forth so many times, I would have had 100 pictures and probably forgot what I was trying to do in my head. So, I apologize in advance. :ugh: All that said, I am extremely happy. The finish is NOT shiny, which I did not want. The dull, flat look is great! Since I didn't take pictures of the leaf procedure (you can see them laying in the box), I will try to explain a little. Probably not much different than anyone else does though. I started with the two base coats of green. Then laid several of the little branches pretty much covering most of the rifle on one side. I sprayed several lines of the brown in different directions depending on how the leaves laid. I need to add that light leaves CAN be moved by the spray! GRRR So I had to adjust once I figured that out. I let that dry, flipped the rifle and repeated as close as I could remember on the opposite side. Then I grabbed the sand and laid about half the amount of leaves I used for brown on the rifle and sprayed 5 or 6 lines mostly vertical and a few on top and bottom of the rifle. I wasn't keen on keeping that much sand color although I love it, just thinking about my area colors. I wanted more green and brown. So I made one more trip around the whole rifle with brown (to break up some of the larger areas of sand color) and then green (A blending type action of all of the designs) again. I decided at the point above that I would stop where I was. Let me know what you think, and if you're pondering it, give it a shot!!

  38. I'm seeing a theme here: I carried a Spyderco that I absolutely LOVE for 5 or 6 years until Willis ruined it for me. Now all I want to carry is my Protech Magic. Not only is it the highest quality steel I've ever owned, but the cool factor is over the top. I've never been happier with any of my EDC gear than I am with this knife.

  40. Admission includes shooting all day on any gun as much as you want. We looked at what you'd pay at a local range to rent a single gun for an hour. And it was about $75-100 for a full auto rental on average. We figured 40 or so full autos will be there, free food and a good time for the price of one machine gun rental seemed fair. I've seen what other ranges do for machine gun shoots, and it's $20 or so to enter. But what they don't tell you is the cost associated with each gun you want to shoot, ammo being $1 a round for 9mm alone and all that crap. We want to keep ammo prices very fair. What you'd pay anywhere else you went to get some. So, in the long run you get to shoot more and get free food and fair ammo prices.
