  1. The murderer fired the first several shots at the ground or in the air. And they still were hurling insults at him. The woman pulled out her phone and said she had it on camera. This had been a long ongoing feud but the fact that the folks just really could not grasp that he was for real and their lives were in danger boggles the mind. The couple did not deserve to die like that, but the story is coming out from the neighbors say that they were not innocent players in all of this. You never know who you’re dealing with and you never know when that psycho switch is going to flip. You just can’t go around pushing people because sometimes you find that you end up dead. ETA: This all relates to some of the recent road rage discussions we’ve had.

  3. I believe now more than ever its important to support the local small guy establishments with your business. Do your research online, but buy local! I feel rather satisfied paying (marginally) more for a purchase made there than at a big box store. Same goes for eating out. Darden brands will be just fine... Joe's Pizza could use some new customers.

  5. I doubt that the penal system is equipped at all to deal to a 95-year old who needs assisted living arrangements. Just guess, I would think they'll send him right back to another similar facility, but without access to any weapons. It seems odd that he was allowed to keep firearms at all in a place like that, and another guess is that the staffer's family is going to sue the facility.

  6. Picked her up on here a couple of months back looking like this.... I picked up a bargain priced 1896 small ring stock on ebay (i'd love to say I did it with the intention of modifying the inletting, but honestly i'd had a couple of bourbons & screwed up....) It arrived yesterday & i set to work the gouges, chisels & rasps. Now she looks like this: I have the bolt with an old guy in Wisconsin getting the super short knob replaced with a traditional, butterknife handle. Once that's back it's going to Terry Walden to have scope mounts fitted. This has been a super simple-ish, classy, cheap project & the ol' gal is going to end up being my antelope, deer & coyote go to.

  8. I really am surprised that this has not happened sooner. I like watching prank videos on YouTube. I have always thought that they should be happy they were in areas with strict gun laws (usually CA) because if they did that around here they would get shot. Sure enough it happened.

  11. Alleycat, I will not profess to be the best Christian. But will say that I believe in the power of prayer and power of prayers given on one’s behalf. I have not lost a daughter, but I have a daughter and I know how important they are. I would be lost if she were gone. there is a longer story here but this is not the time. The short story is I had recurrent Hodgkins Lymphoma many years ago and was in the hospital about a month for a stem cell transplant. my pastor, as well as strangers would stop by and ask if I wanted a prayer. It helped. It helped just to have someone else carry the weight I was feeling, even if it was for a few minutes. It also helped to know friends and strangers we’re praying for me and my wife. So, a prayer from me to you and your family that you may have some peace, that you may have some comfort, and that you get to have as much time with your daughter as possible.

  12. I've been there. I've buried two children under the age of three. If you ever want to talk to someone who's gone through it and survived it, let me know. Until then, you and your family will be in my prayers. Doctors are well educated and often pretty smart, but God has the last word.

  15. I know how they work. But, I wear reading glasses that cease to work with a mask over my nose. So, I'm constantly pulling my mask down so I can see my phone. I do avoid breathing in anybody's direction. Most of the time, the mask is on right.

  26. Very similar situation for me. 10 years survivor now. But Prayer is an important and powerful healing aid. Our own and from others. I don't believe I would be here doing this if not for the prayers of family, friends, and strangers that were told of me.

  28. I asked the same question at a legal self defense class in December. My question was what if two guys kick down my door and come into my house in the middle of the night and I get the drop on them and tell them hands up and they just turn around and walk out... what can I do? The short answer was nothing. Get a description of the person and their vehicle and call the police. My takeaway from the course is 1) You do NOT want to shoot someone because their POS relatives will sue you for everything you own. And they can do this even if there are witnesses and video to support your case! 2) You'd better be darn sure your life is really on the line because after you shoot, your financial life will probably be on the line. Even if you win, the legal fees to defend yourself can be up a half million dollars.

  34. I agree 100% @Omega. Bartering has certainly taken off well in our classified section. It makes good sense. I wholeheartedly embrace the concept. I have a good supply of strike anywhere matches, just because it/they make good sense. I guess I should have stuck back rolls of caps! Good suggestion. Maybe I will when they come back in stock.

  35. Bartering seems a good way to go to get ammo, trade one caliber for another. I'm good on everything right now except some 6.5 CM, but it is not a "need" for me. One thing I found rather strange..well, thinking about it not so much, but anyway, the rolls of caps for the toy guns have become unobtainium lately, most are either gone (OOS) or priced much higher. For those that may ask, they can be used to make your own primers. I expect a run on strike anywhere matches coming too, it is good to be prepared.

  36. If we're within $1000, I call it good. They're not holding too much of my money and anything I have to pay, that money is in my control. Regarding new and shifting tax brackets; 3 year ago, our gross income increased about $4000, our tax burden increased about $3600 YoY. Not much incentive to make that extra money...but hey, we rich folks are fortunate and greedy.

  42. What is the weight of a single 5.56 round? Man, if won that, I’d haul it down to the gun show with a scoop, grocery store scale, and a bunch of plastic baggies. Sell it by weight. Could probably make $20,000.

  43. Anytime I hear this sort of speculation I remind myself that it's just that. People love to throw out predictions and spread gossip about topics they really have no actual knowledge about. It's why a large percentage of the country still thinks the vaccine is more dangerous than COVID. I'm sure they read some compelling data on Facebook that makes it true. Jimbo heard from his cousin the price of tires is going up 10%. Jimbo then told his friend Curtis. Curtis posted on Facebook tire prices were going up 20%. Eventually it makes it's way up to 25%. It's like fish getting bigger each time you tell the story of catching it. According to Goodyear, they raised prices 5% this year. Michelin and Bridgestone did 8%. https://www.moderntiredealer.com/articles/31204-goodyear-consumer-tire-prices-are-on-their-way-up
