  1. Meet Boo, our German Shepherd. Acquired her from a foster family, she's about 3 years old. Her previous life was at best, neglected. I no longer need an alarm clock, guaranteed wake up nudge no later than 630a for bathroom and breakfast.

  2. Our family decided this year not to have a Christmas Dinner but instead we had a Christmas Country Breakfast since the kids are all up wanting to do the Santa thingy. Eggs both fried and scrambled, Bacon, sausage and Country Ham, big bowls of Home fries, homemade biscuits, red eye and Sawmill gravy and coffee. I ate way to much.....LOL. I brought enough home with me to have it for dinner last evening.

  4. I pray the celebration of hope, peace and light carries forth from yesterday to today. I discovered Acts 4:30 in the hospital as my wife was treated for a stroke. I witness it come true each day. Father, please extend your hand to heal and to perform signs and wonders in the name of your holy servant Jesus. He can heal physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually and relationally. I pray this for each of you!

  6. Cooked a 13lb, 6-rib standing rib. Rubbed with a mix of fresh crushed garlic, thyme, rosemary, salt, pepper, and olive oil. It turned out quite tasty.

  9. Often, we don't get that option. Despite some of the movies and TV shows that act like jury selection is totally in the hands of the attorneys, that is not reality. In my last jury trial (employment case), the judge refused to excuse a potential juror who broke down crying when certain questions in jury selection triggered her memory of a similar situation that happened to her. She had an obvious bias and the judge would not strike her. We were left with using one of our 3 strikes without cause. In this day and age, I don't think 3 strikes without cause can get all the potential juror problems resolved (even assuming you can predict which individuals will be a problem). My purpose for bringing any of this up is to emphasize that letting a DA, judge, or jury decide your fate is a VERY risky proposition. And with society seeming to be more polarized by the day (and most seem to be driven only by headlines and 120 character tweets), it is questionable how many jurors will even attempt to understand the nuance of the self-defense law. I sincerely worry that jurors are making decisions based on pure emotion more and more every day.

  11. This is Rosie and I have the same problem as a couple others when it comes to sleeping in late. In the morning she lets me know she is up and I should be up too. She starts howling like a hound on a treed Coon and won't stop till I'm up. She is a full blooded Basset Hound and I got her from a Breeder that had her fixed and wanted to rehome her. I enjoy listening to a hound bay and yodel, just not at 6AM.....lol

  12. This is Katy. She showed up uninvited about six weeks ago, skinny and afraid to be touched. She's proven to be a sweet, gentle, but worthless hound, and I guess she's adopted us and has moved in permanently. She doesn't like to pose for photos, though.

  15. Merry Christmas everyone! Just a quick update to let you know that I am still here and doing pretty well. I’m currently working full-time for a real estate title company here in Ohio and I recently accepted an adjunct professor of finance position with a local four-your college teaching corporate finance. i’ve also restarted my own Masters program working on the master of arts degree in biblical apologetics. God is good; and I will never forget the overwhelming generosity of those here at TGO! And, yes, I still have my G20!

  19. Well, I was sitting in my Lazy Boy and seen the temp was 70 so I decided to go out in my back yard and do some practice. Man, I have missed my regular practice I once did (100 rounds per outing). I would shoot every 2 weeks when I could purchase unlimited ammo. Since the ammo shortage, I have only been practicing about once a month (50 Rounds). I sure can tell a difference. I shot 100 rounds today. My MP 9MM pistol and 38 Spl revolver was used. Fifty rounds through each one. My hand has softened up, and my arm got a little fatigued. I drew every shot from my Pocket(revolver) and fired without cocking the hammer, then with the pistol from IWB draw and single shot every time. The web of my hand also got a little irritated because the MP has quite rough stippling on the grip. I had a great outing but know I need to shoot more than once per month 50 rounds. We supposed to have a good next 6 days so I am going to try and get out next week and bust another 100 rounds. I have a hard time firing 50 or 60 dollars of ammo a week now. Retirement will not allow me to do that so I am just going to need to take my chances with more deliberate practice with fewer rounds. I concentrated on my draw stroke and sending, off hand, ever round I sent down range today. Could keep all rounds on 8" plate, from standing at 21 ft, but had some trouble with keeping all on the 4" steel. That is what lack of constant practice will do for one. Hope you guys had a good day. I sure did.

  20. Christmas Eve we had a traditional German dinner of Weisswurst, mashed potatoes, sauerkraut and green beans. Good stuff... Thanks Mom! Christmas day was turkey and all the fixings! Surprised we didn't have to pump the septic tank...

  23. This is one of those situations that you need to avoid at all costs. If we have learned anything from the last few high-profile cases, there are people sitting on juries who will blame a defendant for ANY aggression whatsoever. Luckily, most (not all) of these cases have not resulted in convictions, but all you have to do is listen to any media reports to know there is a segment of the population who will say "guilty" if the defendant was aggressive (or had a weapon) at all. If you have the ability to decide whether or not to get into the situation, always choose NOT to get involved in that situation unless absolutely necessary. Obviously, we don't know the whole story in this case, but driving to confront someone is increasingly going to put you in jeopardy. Not to mention this guy could easily have lost his life had the gun been loaded. In that case, would the girl have had a "defense of others" claim? Depending on the facts, she might. There lies the problem. When a situation goes to a mutual combat type of situation, it becomes very difficult to figure out who was defending and who was attacking. Juries get to decide on those. Choose wisely.

  24. You guys may have worked this out, but the statute is quoted verbatim below. The "reasonable belief" is of the shooter, not the intruder. The law does not presume anything about the intruder. Although many people use the terms "fear" and "belief" interchangeably in this context, the issue is the shooter's mindset. So, the shooter's mindset is vital to a self-defense claim. What's in the shooter's mind is very difficult to know, so this presumption is vital under the circumstances described in the statute below. (c) Any person using force intended or likely to cause death or serious bodily injury within a residence, business, dwelling or vehicle is presumed to have held a reasonable belief of imminent death or serious bodily injury to self, family, a member of the household or a person visiting as an invited guest, when that force is used against another person, who unlawfully and forcibly enters or has unlawfully and forcibly entered the residence, business, dwelling or vehicle, and the person using defensive force knew or had reason to believe that an unlawful and forcible entry occurred.

  26. I wouldnt say that. Its just that your first post in the community was a for sale ad that violated the rules laid out by the admin here. Some of us have been here a long time, and most of us have made long term friends here. This is a really great community. I have had several members here over to my house for range days and other stuff. But a long time member here mentioned that your for sale post violated the rules that you agreed to when you signed up and you immediately turned sarcastic and defensive. Not a great way to build a good reputation as someone who is easy to get along with.

  28. This is the truth. Fried Turkey is delicious, easy to make, and expensive. You’ll need at least $30 worth of oil...and that’s for a peanut oil blend. Pure peanut costs a lot more if you can find it. That’s what’s used since it has a low flash point. Then you’ve got the frier. Nothing but a great big massive pot on a stand. Maybe $40. And a propane tank. Once all that is assembled you have to be more than careful not to burn the house down or send yourself to the hospital. It is worth it though.

  29. If I owned that & carried it, I'd feel obligated to go around saying, "Just the facts, ma'am, just the facts." LOL! For those whom may not know, these guns are capable of surprising accuracy. Twin, if you'll give me the model dash # (if any) or IM me the S/N, I can get you pretty close to born-on year.

  30. I have no hunt in this firearm, just do not care for the "look". I did find a few adds and anywhere from 900 to 1200 is out there, if you can find one. If I was to buy one it would be the stainless model. I do not think you are out of line with your trade value. GLWS https://bestguns.net/search-page/?keyword=chiappa+rhino+60ds+357

  31. Man that is the real hard question to answer honestly but from what I can find and due to rarity somewhere between 1200-1400. Since I am missing the box/paperwork I am valuing on the lower end maybe 1100-1200, as I want to be fair. If I am out of line, I am very welcome to sources indicating the actual market saturation and CMV of the firearm. Thank you for the question Major. Merry Christmas.

  33. I agree @Swede, way too plentiful. Just a PIA to have to cull them out. But it's now a step in my process. @gregintenn, The majority of my dies are RCBS. I have 1 Lyman and 1 Hornady. The RCBS small pins mike at 1.55 mm, the Lyman at 1.55mm. The Hornady are for 32 S&W and mike at 1.75mm. The RCBS 1.55 pins work great for 9mm (normally), .380, and .38/,357 FWIW I've dramatically trimmed down what I shoot and load for over the past 3 years. So I no longer have any Lee dies. I shouldn't complain. At least I can handload range ammo whenever I like, and that's a big plus in the times we find ourselves in.

  42. Ok. I picked up some powder from @RED333 offline. I’m offering up some Cast Performance bullets. The sticker has been peeled off these, but they’re 320 grain .430 hard cast gas checked bullet. Full-ish box. I counted 98, but I don’t swear to that, once I count off my fingers and toes it’s all in my head, and I don’t know what’s going on in there most of the time.
