  3. I think this douchebaggery could be perpetual. Every time someone buys from these aholes it funds their next trip to clean out Wally World or to make a bulk order online. Demand will stay high and these guys will limit the supply by snapping it up at source.

  4. Why can't they just admit they f'd up royal? This is the reason there is so much distrust of the LAPD. They are planning to settle out of court so they don't have to admit wrongdoing and they can gag the victims as part of the deal. IMO, these ladies should absolutely not settle out of court. They should sue civilly and push for criminal prosecution of the officers involved. This whole "well he the other officers were shooting and I shot too" argument they always give is BS. Every officer is responsible for their rounds same as me. None of those POS's have any business walking the street free without threat of prosecution, let alone wearing a badge.

  11. If you only knew the crap that goes on in the awards system. Compared to what I've seen, this Chappy has met the requirements for a meritorious Bronze Star by comparison to what I've seen it awarded for. If I were king for a day, this lunacy would end and Bronze Stars would require actual valor and this subjective meritorious crap would end. This system awards staff weenies with BSMs while giving ARCOM Vs to lower enlisted who were shot while dragging wounded buddies behind cover. Just disgusting. Don't even get me started of these less than worthless piles of POGs who have received BSMs having never stepped foot in a combat zone. One of the many reasons I was happy to leave. The military wants people to feel good about themselves and could care less about the grunts that actually do the work our military exists for in the first place. Once again, for all the folks in the military who want all the shiny medals and awards that have traditionally gone to the infantry, they should have gone into the infantry. There have been more new authorized tabs badges and such in the past decade than the last 70 years, while the standards for everyone have dropped across the board. And when I see a overweight slob of a Soldier that can't IMT unless its vicariously through an XBOX I think to myself how quickly things would have to change if we had to fight a real war.

  12. Unfortunately rank plays way to large a role in the awards process.  Had an E-4 chaplains assistant created the same powerpoint they at best would have received an acchievement medal or nothing atall.

  15. I did something I never do and waited around tonight for 2.5 hours for them to get the truck unloaded just for .22 ammo. I got one box of Winchester M22 ( 1000 rounds ) and 2 boxes of 555 round Winchester. I hate Walmart but I was running low on .22 so I guess it was worth the wait. When I got there it was just me and by the time they brought it out, there were 15 people in line and the 6 cases was gone within 15 minutes of being brought out.

  21. They do. I doubt that there are many Walmart employees engaging in this practice. Considering there are folks lined up in the morning to purchase cases that are posted for sale on Armslist the same day, it is clear to me what is going on. If folks would just not pay those price the price would go down. Unfortunately there are the fear buyers who are causing this whole mess as if ammo is going to be banned tomorrow. I would like some .22 so I can shoot this spring, and I can afford to pay stupid prices for it, but I'd rather stay home and not shoot than contribute to the system of rampant stupidity and greed.

  22. It's not just Armslist, it's the Gun Shops too. I was in Huntsville yesterday and checked several GS and their prices on ammo was 1.5-2 times Nov 2012 prices. Everyone seems to be gouging. I bought a box of 20 rds of American Eagle 308 168g at Outpost Armory and it was priced $32, more than $1.50/rd. I had no 308 and a new gun, so I bought.   I constantly check 3 WalMarts in my area and never catch any ammo on their shelves, but see it on Armlists at 2-3 times regular price. I wonder how many more months this craze is going to last. The problem is you can not even find reloading components, for reloaders started hoarding these supplies. Sorry for the complaining, but ammo prices are getting to me.

Seriously though, my wife is adamant about keeping the awesomeness of this state a secret from CA. I agree that keeping most Californians out of TN is a great idea.

  26.   Why does an MLB pitcher not knock the catcher over with a 98 mph fast ball?  Same concept.   A baseball weighs 149 grams and travels at 98 mph.  Kinetic energy  = 0.5 x mass x velocity squared = 1135 ft-lbs.    Muzzle energy from a typical .44 Mag = 1100 ft-lbs.  And Harry Callahan taught us all that a .44 mag sends people flying backwards.

  28. I wonder how many of the hoarder/speculators are gun enthusiasts?  I suspect most are. What they are doing is cutting off their nose to spite their face as they are helping to ensure that when supply does meet demand that the wholesale prices will reflect that demand, however it was created.  Short term profits must be more important to these folks than the long term health of the shooting sports.  Just think of how many kids will not be shooting or getting into shooting during this "shortage."  Heck, adults with no ammo will go on to other activities, I know I have.  Fewer and fewer shooters will have a significant political impact further downstream.  Just when the shrinking numbers of shooters become more and more politically isolated we have our "profiteers" creating divisions among shooters just when it is even more important to have unity.    Relying solely on the NRA to preserve shooting "rights" will likely prove ineffective over the increasing political power of urban population/political centers.  It is a pity that shooters can't unite, instead of screaming and ranting, show responsibility, a concern for the environment, thoughtfulness and how shooting can be fun, educational and sometimes necessary.

  35.   Well, ask Madam Speaker why she would not allow debate on SJR2 (election of judges).  They are not listening to anything that the People have to say, only that which is best (in their opinion) for the Republican caucus.  Every one of them thinks only of partisanship and the advancement of their power.  Duty and obligation to their constituents is a thing of the past, it died with the penny post card evidently...

  37. The real problem is going to be the lack of people that even care about freedoms in the elections. Many Republicans were either LAZY in the fall elections, or just plain dumb for not putting Obama out of office. I wasn't thrilled about Romney, but hey. I wanted Obama out at all costs, and maybe regrouping in 2016. But many Conservative voters stayed home rather than vote for Romney. I heard several I know say so. And that's just in my small circle of friends. The Liberals have a dream and that dream is Marxist Socialism. To get there, all they have to do is get the majority of Americans dependent on Uncle Sam for their needs, get them fired up and then get them to the voting booth, in buses if necessary (sound familiar?). They did an excellent job of it too. They use mental manipulation on the campaign trail by using vague terms in promise after promise, lie after lie, that each person can shape into their own idea of what was said or promised. Take the "Hope and Change" slogan and the "Forward" slogans. These are words that allows each person to conjure up their own images suited to their needs and in each persons mind without any support or explanation by the administration. The Liberal plan is to produce a citizen that is dependent on the government for everything they want or need and do it in huge numbers. They fight against the Constitution by ridiculing and painting anyone that holds it in high esteem as outside the norm and backward ("holding on to their guns and Bibles"). The REAL problem is, the entire political scale has slid to the left. Even the Republicans are moving left. Most of those in the House are more afraid of loosing their cushy jobs and taking the easy road, than doing what they were sent there to do. They are caving in. Our own Bob Corker is a prime example. He was having dinner with Obama, as were 11 or 12 other WEAK Conservative Senators, while Rand Paul was filibustering John Brennan's nomination and doing his job as best he could. I believe the mid term elections will decide the future of our country. The Liberals are fired up. They feel they they are on the home stretch and way in the lead. To them, this is their time of history and on the verge of taking over the country and they are going to bring it on. Hell, they ALREADY ARE.!! Obama and the Liberals know that the mid terms are the most important elections in our history.   I just hope Conservative America wakes up and smells the coffee between now and then! Oh...I sure do hope Magpull sticks to their "mags" on this one.......(got to stick to the thread topic)

  38. I grew up in West Virginia, it was common place that every grocery store had a wine isle. Seems silly to me that this is such a big deal here. Liquor stores just need to adjust their business plan a little, they'll be fine.

  39. I would imagine on the rifle end the majority of the recoil/impact would be absorbed by the gas system/buffer tube etc. I'm sure if you felt the full force of the bolt cycling back into your shoulder, it would feel too good.

  41. After the match, pick up all the brass you want, it's on the ground, everyone is done shooting, get it all... But... You're out pasting targets and realize it's just you and couple of the same people doing all the pasting, when you turn to yell for more pasters all you see are asses stuck up in the air. You're trying to do a walk through and everyone is in the way trying to pick up brass. I don't think the competition comment was out of place.

  43. I'd say if it spends more than a day on the shelf things may be getting back to normal. However I wouldn't count on it. As soon as word gets out it will be long gone. Things wont be getting back to normal until everybody is comfortable leaving ammo on the shelf for the next guy and I dont see that happening any time soon. Honestly how long do think it will be before you can reasonably expect to walk into a Wal-Mart and buy ammo on an as needed basis.

  46. A lot of this is post Civil War, when the recently mustered-out United States Colored Troops (USCT) began returning to their states with .58 caliber rifle-muskets and the skill to use them. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas outlines the process in detail in a well-footnoted, scholarly concurring statement in one of the high profile Supreme Court Second Amendment Cases. It is available online, and I might be able to dig it out later.   I think it's in:   http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/09pdf/08-1521.pdf     Edit:   Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas' Concurrence in McDonald v. 48. Yeah, Knoxville may be a "large metropolitan police department" but Glock is a major corporation. Their lawyers are going to have a field day with this.   If they wanted new guns, they should have said so, doing this was shady and backhanded, it will come back to bite the new CLEO.

  49. For the sake of full disclosure; I'm a glock guy ... but ... They received a shipment in which 10 wouldn't fire properly out of box?!?! I find that hard to believe; whether it's from glock, sig, s&w, beretta. these places aren't going to send a shipment to a big customer like this with that many that won't operate. they wouldn't be in business if they had that kind of track record. Something seems fishy here ... waiting for the story to develop more. but like it's been said ... follow the money and you'll find the truth

My wife was able to get a little footage and so did I with a HD Contour POV camera on the shotgun. The shotgun I used was my Saiga-12 seeing as its a semi auto magazine fed shotgun to make it a little easier on my 1 armed ass lol.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tj0L5tinuAI
