  1. As always, innocent people are punished because of potential misuse by others. Here's an idea, how about we quit trying to tell folks how to conduct their lives and let them do what they choose as long as they don't violate others. We must end this immoral war on drugs.

  10.   Gimme a break, way overstated and you know it. Probably in close contact with symptomatic person, at least some of those factors you mention would likely be transmissive.   We have 10-15 cases of bubonic plague per year in US also, and unlike Ebola, it can indeed be airborne spread when moves to pneumonic phase. But due to overall decent health care system of treatment, isolation, and contact investigation, it never becomes significant.   Seasonal flu kills many thousands of folks per year in US too.   Though this is is indeed apparently the widest outbreak of any of the Ebola strains in history,  the nature of transmission means it will never be a pandemic if it keeps behaving as it has in the same stable way since it's discovery in the 70's.   Seems to me this enterovirus thing that seems to be mutating rapidly to causing paralysis is much more worrisome threat here. Ebola is sort of like shark attacks, gets all the press out of all proportion to threat to average person.   - OS

  16. This is a Wharncliffe style knife made from 1/8" thick 1095 carbon steel. This blade is 4" lond and the overall length is 8 1/4". It has been professionally heat treated to 59-60 RC. As you can see it has jimping along the spine and has red linen micarta handles with white G10 liners held on with corby bolts and epoxy as well. It has been double etched...the design is actually textured or raised on the steel. It includes a .08 kydex sheath with belt loop. If you would like to own this knife just send me a PM and we will see if we can work something out. ;)

  17. I have not read any of this thread yet.  Gonna save it for when I have time.   This stuff is scary.   I don't want our survivor's to read about the Ebola Outbreak of 2015 in their history books like I read about the black plague in some history class of mine.

  20. I wouldn't be scared of Ebola in the USA. Likely not too much worse than a bad flu. Nothing a month or 2 in icu wouldn't cure. Except, I have 3 babies, and therefore Ebola scares the hell out of me.

  21. I had a pretty sad and sorry machete that was given to me. It was pretty rusty and one of the plastic handle 'scales' was busted. I decided to clean it up a little and do a paracord wrap handle. To begin, I busted the rest of the plastic handle off and cut the handle pins with my Dremel. I ended up with this: I wasn't concerned about ending up with a 'show piece' (wasn't going to happen, regardless) so I just went at it with a wire brush chucked into my cordless drill followed by scrubbing it with steel wool and 100 grit sandpaper by hand to get the loose rust off. After wiping it down with rubbing alcohol, It looked like this: A couple of coats of Krylon matte green 'camouflage' rattle can paint and I had: I knew I wanted an 'underwrap' to help stabilize and further cushion the top wrap. I know some folks use gutted paracord for an underwrap but I kind of see that as a waste of paracord so I did an underwrap with some much cheaper, nylon cord I had (which is also thinner and softer than paracord and so easier to wrap tightly in such a manner.) That gave me: Not wanting the white of that cord to 'shine through' the overwrap, I decided to give it a quick shot of the Krylon, too. It stuck well and dried quickly: I started out trying to do a Stryder style wrap but can't seem to get that pattern to look smooth and tight so I ended up doing a modified version of the same wrap I came up with for the Paklite from my other thread. In this case, I started by passing the cord through what had been the hole for the bottom pin. I used the underwrap as stand-ins for the finger choil hole and on the second, bottom pass. As I said, it was never going to be a show piece but I like how it turned out. Except for the red at the end of the lanyard, this was also one strand of paracord - I fused the black and the green. It took something like fifteen to twenty feet of cord, all told. The way I did the weave, the black is more 'dominant' on one side and the green is more 'dominant' on the other:

  23. He's not infected with ebola, because according to OS, contracting ebola is more complicated that solving a rubik's cube on LSD while handcuffed.   We keep hearing "it's not contagious, it's not airborne, it's extremely difficult to contract it and can only be done by sharing body fluids"  but they won't be specific.. Does body fluids mean blood only, mucus, saliva, tears, sweat... wtf does it mean already?  Because way too many people are contracting this shit for them to say it's only as contagious as HIV.

  29. This is what I'd call a modified Wharncliffe as far as shape. As you can see I made the blade edge round back up to the point instead of leaving the blade edge straight. It's a beefy blade for being on the small side made from 5/32" thick 1095 carbon steel professionally heat treated to 59-60RC. While not what I'd call a mirror finish you can see in some of the pictures a distinct reflection in the blade. I finished it down to 400 grit so it's pretty slick. The scales are stabilized mineral stained Afzelia Xylay sanded to 1000 grit and oiled with Scandinavian tung oil. They came out pretty sweet. They are mechanically fastened with JP Bolts as well as epoxied. The blade is about 3 1/2" long and the overall length is right at 8 1/4". It has some nice jimping along the spine of the blade from the back to around 2" past the front of the scales. This knife took quite a while to make since I only had a rough plan when I started and it kind of matured as I went along. It really deserves a leather sheath but since I'm not a sheath maker it got a kydex one. The sheath it made from .08 thick kydex so it's stout and the holes are laid out for a small tec-lock. The mounting holes are 1" apart. The small tec-lock is not included. This knife with sheath is for sale. If you are serious about purchasing this blade send me a PM and I'll fill you in with the details.

  30. I, for one, am getting sick and tired of the government sticking their nose into medicine. Lavergne passed a stinking law requiring a prescription for Pseudoephedrine. Now an inexpensive OTC drug costs you and your insurance company a run to the doctor on top of it. Step over into Smyrna and you don't need it. Morons!!!

  31. peejman, I just got this image of a big, kind of burly guy with a full beard (kind of a Spots looking fellah) sitting in a wooden rocking chair with a pair of knitting needles and couple of balls of paracord.  Someone says to him, "Jimbo, what the heck are you doin'?"  Jimbo replies, "What the hell's it look like?  I'm makin' myself a bug out bag entirely out of paracord.  Gonna make some badass, tactical mittens, too!"

  32. No, it doesn't. There are plenty of providers that will write 3 separate scripts to last their trustworthy patients. Or, as you suggested simply write one for pickup with a phone call from the patient. All they do is future date the script to ensure they aren't filled before the time they should be. Now, is that the best practice? No, but as far as I know there's no regulation against it. My suggestion...get used to it. My guess is before long, there will be a lot more drugs that make the same move.

  37. If you watch the video a security officer had his weapon pointed right at the guy from the time he came up to the pillar porch till he went through the doors and never shot him. That is totally unacceptable. You can bet had that been the Kremlin the guy would have been full of bullet holes or the leader of any other nation for that fact. The White House should be the most secure house in the country. If he came in my house like he did the White House he would be dead. What if the president and his family were there and the intruder ran into one of the family members or even the President? Just totally unacceptable...........JMHO

  38. Well, that's not the best news lol but it is what it is. I've been carrying everyday, just about everywhere I go for the last few years so I guess 3-6wks. waiting time isn't going to bother me to bad. I went down to the back this afternoon and did some shooting at the posted 3, 5 and 7 yards. I am pretty confident I will pass the range test with any gun I own. I was thinking it was going to be harder, at longer distances and smaller targets or something. A feller never really knows how he will do until he is doing it for real. The lady might be very nervous, maybe pulling the gun instead of just the trigger when she shoots or the instructor may not care for the lady and not devoting any time to helping her shoot better, I don't know. There are a lot of single women out there today that have nobody to teach them about firearms. I do wish you the best of luck on getting your permit as fast as possible and congratulations on passing the HCP class.

  41. Stan... can you show me a pic of the lower side of your carrier... I'll be able to tell immediately if it's a semi carrier. It's either a semi carrier or your shelf height as you mentioned.. very common problem with the clones.. If you can't get it working I'm an 02 manuf and I can help repair it .. Couple of additional ?s ... is this the first host you're using your fleming pack on? the K clones use the exact same internals as a regular size MP5.. the housing is the only thing different... I don't understand it shooting semi auto though if the the sear isn't getting tripped you should get 1 round fired and then nothing.. remove the pack to find the hammer cocked ... Even on semi auto in an HK/clone the auto sear is used... unlike a M16 where the sear is disengaged during semi auto operation. If you have another host that works we can work to get your SP89 clone working. Just wondering the background on the sear pack. May push me to a few more things to try. You can call me tomorrow if you'd like and we can talk about a few things. Good luck Here's a pic of a MP5-40 FA carrier. Yours will be shorter of course but if you look at the top left you'll see that little ramped area. On a semi, the ramp will not be as pronounced as this is. Many will have it milled completely flat. That is what trips your sear lever. So if it's missing the top 1/8" or so of the ramp it's a semi carrier. I can weld them up for a sear trip as well if you find you don't have a FA carrier. Or you can get one from Robert at RTGPARTS.COM or Adam at HKParts.NET
