I feel like in a way she's kinda everyone's dog so I thought I'd update you guys. I know I told you the Monkey and I were going to keep her. When we originally got her from Reef, she was a rescue, then she blended in so well. Flash forward two weeks and I realized that not only would she be better suited as an only dog or dog with 1 other dog. But I also realized she was going to take time for obedience school. With our huge pack, it just didn't seem fair to turn their lives upside down. When we initially took her, I had a PM from a member here who sent me an offer of help. To say I was shocked would be true but I should know better then that. The offer was to help with Vet bills, boarding or whatever she needed. Also to adopt her if we didn't keep her. What a great person, right? Well, Daisy has been completey vetted, spayed and given a clean bill of health. Due to a very sad incident at our home we've sorta had her there to cheer us up during a big loss. But today we're heading to Lebanon to meet up with her new owners who will give her an amazing life and focus on her. I'm VERY sad to see her go, but I'm thankful she's going to a good home who truly wants her. So she can technically still be the TGO mascot if needed. LOL I am going to miss her, but I have a slight feeling her new owner will want to share pics and posts about her with all of us since she's so amazing. Also, wish him luck on the food front. She's a hearty eater and she never gains weight. 5 cups of dry and 2 cans of wet food a day. In two weeks she only gained .1 lb! I'll let him reveal himself when he feels like it, but just know, this forum is a place where people truly care and help each other and animals and for that I am grateful. Thanks everyone!9 points

While this is a sad, sad story, I am always amazed at the lengths people will go to to prove their point over something of little or no value. Just this morning I was about to parallel park in a meter spot in downtown Knoxville when a lady was yelling at me (so I could hear with my window up I suppose), that the meter in front of her was broken so she intended to back into the space I was attempting to park in. She wanted to make very clear to me that she was there first (although parking in a different space) and since the first meter she tried didn't work she was therefore entitled to take the space I was about to park in. I am able bodied and have more to worry about in life than a parking space, so I drove off and (as I was already partially in the spot) and found another place to park.5 points

Don't bet on it. I was in the Hattiesburg area after Katrina. A couple of Mississippi's finest rednecks shot it out over a bag of ice at a convenience store. Nothing to the story. Two rednecks and only one bag of ice.4 points

Joeys house of pizza on elm hill pike. Open 11-3 weekdays. Find time to go. Better than all the above suggestions so far. Also cafe fontanella has a really good pizza if you're ever a little north of town.3 points

My only advice when starting new 9mm loads... start in small batches. I have been loading 40 for years, and I've NEVER had a load that didn't cycle every 40 cal gun I own, or tried them in. However, in 9 I've had more than a few that don't have enough "oomph." I start with batches of 30 rds of a new recipe and test that before proceeding. I got all excited and ran off 200 of my very first recipe. Didn't cycle for crap. Great way to practice yer malf drills. :/ I've found a few more loads that don't run in 9mm since then, but thankfully made small batches. I definitely agree that 9 is a bit more work than 40/10, 38/357, 44, and 45. I don't even wanna think about 380. I hate that caliber anyways, so thankfully I'll never hafta fool with it.2 points

I have the Tacoma 2003 4WD with the 2.7 4CYL . It is bulletproof and proven for several years especially in Africa , South America and here . I prefer the 4 cyclinder over the v6 since reliability seems to be better. If you need more power just put the transfer case into 4-Low and it will pull a tree stump out of the ground . I have pulled several vehicle out of ditches and a few Ford F250's . The Toyota 2.7 liter is tough as nails ! It does use quite a bit of gas . I average only 18 MPG .2 points

My next truck is likely going to be a new Tacoma. They've really done something pretty cool with the Crawl Control - which is relevant to this thread since we've been talking about getting around in the slush: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRLxRiUHvxo At least I thought I was pretty sold on it until I checked out TGO David's Tundra. The back seat in that thing may as well have taken the couch out of the living room and just stuck it in there. If any of the rest of my family sees that, I may have to trade up.2 points

To which OC'er are you referring? Funny how nobody has a problem with a cop OC'ing, but Bob forbid one of us lowly subjects have the gall to even think about it. But no, we don't see a clear, glaring, obvious, so-plain-even-Stevie-Wonder-could-clearly-see-it double standard here, do we?2 points

I'm thinking about a Wrangler myself. Just too pricey for the new unlimiteds. I need room for the kids or I'd get an old cheap jeep. I can't afford a new Forester and the "good" model has only been out two years so it's not depreciated enough yet. When I do buy I like to go three or four years old. Yes, to both of you. I wear a Glock Sport Combat Holster the same as that Galco. Technically the Galco was a model with a thumbstrap that I cut off but retained the backside as a sweat guard. That open top is essentially the same.2 points

Find yourself an older, lovingly cared for jeep wrangler with a hard top and ac..Install the gizmos on it ya like;for creature comfort and fun (...insulation in the top... Loud radio...other stuff...) as ya got the time and extra cash.. . After drivin it a while and goin thru a few slick spots; you won't want any of these other "mini SUV/AWV" gizmos anymore... I've never been without one... all wheel leroy... the jeep affectionado...2 points

And none of that gives the cop any right or authority to continue to harass someone who was not engaging in any illegal activity because he did not comply with a request he was under no legal obligation to comply with. I don't give a damn whose shiny badge you are wearing, when you make a demand of me that you don't have the authority to force me to comply with and I tell you to piss up a rope, guess what your options are?2 points

It wasn't an order, it was a request, and a request the open carrier has no reason to acquiescent to. Watch the second video down in the link (an LEO followed him to another business) and the LEO's flat out said that he told the business owners, "we can't order you to present your...ahh...permit." http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=667_1452648888 So, why the issue? The open carrier was harassed by the LEO's because he dared to open carry a firearm, as he was qualified by his state to do. Respect goes both ways, once they disrespected the carrier, they lost his respect, as they would mine. I also would have been just as uncooperative as the open carrier were I in his place.2 points

I'm doing my research and due dilligance on a pending small SUV/AWD vehicle. Currently I'm looking seriously at the Subaru Forester and Ford Edge. With those selections you can pretty well determine the price range I'm leaning towards. The four-cylinder engine in the Subaru kind of concerns me but it does have pretty good HP. I generally look first at slightly used vehicles but have sometimes purchased year end models when the price was right. Do any of you have recommendations?1 point

Back when I worked I dealt with the public every day because I owned the auto repair business. I never had an altercation that would have escalated this far with any customer. If it began to go south I would make gestures that would take things down to another level and I don't think I ever lost a customer that left unhappy. If I did I don't remember it. Customers were to hard to come by to risk losing one over something trivial. Bite the bullet, take the loss to keep the customer. When I began making baits for the public I have shipped baits all over the eastern U.S. and if a customer was not happy with any baits I shipped I would make them new ones and send them N/C. Many times without asking I would get another check from the customer for about half the price to cover my expenses. Keeping a customer happy is not hard if you are willing to exert a little effort...............jmho1 point

I work for Emergency Management, so I HAVE to go out in this stuff, even if it's my regular day off.. I drove my rear/2 wheel drive pickup truck back and forth to work all weekend past numerous vehicles stuck or in ditches, and even had to call in someone to help with a big 4-wheel drive SUV that spun right in front of me. If you use your head, with just a little luck you can stay out of trouble.1 point

Being native to the Kansas City area I know how to drive in this crap. Unfortunately, most others around here do not. I took me 1.5 hours to get into work TODAY. :banghead: The funny thing about 4x4 and AWD is many of their owners think that just because they can get going easily enough it also means that they can stop easily enough. Wrong! And, yes, I own a 4x4 Ram 2500.1 point

I purchased a new Diesel pickup last year. I had 300,000mi on the last one and my son wanted it. I made a decision to drive all three brands and pick the one I liked the best. After some internet research I found it almost impossible to get a good picture of reliability. There were many claims of this brand it best and that one is horrible. Transmissions, turbos, ECM's you name the part and they all have huge failure rates according to the internet. I did look up some real people and ask them their opinion of what they owned and found that most people like their truck but have a few comments about smaller items. Big failures weren't that common. I got a better feeling looking someone in the eye while asking their opinion, than the big online forums. Here at TGO there are many interests and you can get a feel for someones attitude if you hang around much, not quite as good as face to face but better than totally anonymous... I was told by a fellow the other day that my truck was a ticking bomb and that by 40Kmi it would be a smoking hole in my wallet because it was the wrong brand. Funny thing is that it already has 59kmi on it and about 1/3 of that is hauling a 24' enclosed trailer.... Do your research, but buy what is comfortable and you can get good service on if needed. Much like guns the dealer can be as important as the car itself.1 point

I go where I want and haven't had any trouble, just got to take it easy and assess each part of the road. Years of dirtbiking and rear wheel drive sports car shenanigans help too. Those things have gotten me used to a rear end breaking loose. Tires do play a big part. I got new Michelin M/S 2s last year and they have been great!1 point

Nothing says you can't but with that said you need to be extra careful not AD on that first shot, because your use to DA first shots. Dry fire is the way to fix the said problem, practice drawing DA first shot. Pay close attention to the sights, they'll tell you everything your doing wrong. When all else fails dry fire then dry fire some more.1 point

You can load even 9mm (cheapest of handgun ammo) cheaper than factory, the issue is, how far down the rabbit hole are you willing to go to save a few bucks? To do it requires an investment on the front end, that for many if not most people, are better spent on just buying ammo outright. A quality mold will set you back a hundred bucks easy. You can do it with a $25 Lee sure, but they suck in the long run as anyone with experience will tell you. A lube sizer will set you back another couple of hundred. Also, you have to have sources for freebies and everyone doesn't have at luxury. I don't pay for lead because of where I work and I don't pay for 9mm brass most of the time either. I also have a massive amount of free time at work to do much of my casting. In the end, I can load 9mm for around 60-75 bucks per thousand depending on what I want to produce. It's extremely labor intensive and MOST people have more important things to devote their time to. So, in the end, you have to evaluate your specific situation and resourcefulness. For MOST people, buying it is the most efficient way. Even if you manage to save a few bucks, is it worth those few bucks to tie up your time in it? If you don't have any family obligations and shoot several thousand rounds a year, then yeah. If you shoot a few boxes a moth at the range, hell no, go buy it and enjoy your free time doing something else.1 point

Calm down, it's not a gun. She said it's my job to buy the weapons....that said, she provided something to carry them in! It's a Plano Tactical 108031 AW Extra Large Pistol Case. She got it for right at $75. Seems to be designed to turn 2 pistols in alternating fashion (2 on top layer and 2 on bottom layer). But I'm going to pick up another slim piece of foam and make one layer for magazines/accessories and the other for pistols. Well, that's where I'm at anyway. I only have a couple of pictures but it's just because I was excited to show it off. I'll take a few more detailed pictures when the girls aren't trying to go to sleep as the dogs bark because I'm up making noise. This thing is BIG! It has 4 heavy dual stage locking latches, two of which lock. They provide 2 keys of course. It also has padlock tabs for airline compliance. The o-ring seems pretty well made and of decent thickness. There are two pluck-able layers of high density foam, and they are about 2 inches thick each I believe. In the bottom of the case there is a smaller and thinner piece of removable foam that fits the section of the case that is of a smaller than OAD of the case. There is also a pressure relief valve in the back of the case wall. What I did may not be what everyone does, but I plucked out the size per pistol first. Then the piece I removed, I cut in half with my knife and re-inserted back into the hole. I did that to decrease the distance from the foam each pistol laid on and the one that pressed on the top of it when closing the lid. I doubt very seriously that a little bouncing in between foam would "hurt" anything, but it's what I thought would work better. I'm still in thinking mode about how I'll finish it off. I don't want to rush and then come up with a better plan next week. All in all it is a very nice case and I'm very happy with it. See? I told you I was excited!1 point
