  1.  A mother and father take their 6-year old son to a nude beach...         As the boy walks along the sand, he notices that many of the women have boobs bigger than his mother's, so he goes back to ask her why.         She tells her son, 'The bigger they are, the sillier the lady is.'         The boy, pleased with the answer, goes to play in the ocean but returns to tell his mother that many of the men have larger things than his dad does.         She replies, 'The bigger they are, the dumber the man is'         Again satisfied with her answer, the boy goes back to the ocean to play.         Shortly thereafter, the boy returns and promptly tells his mother,         'Daddy is talking to the silliest lady on the beach, and the longer he talks, the dumber he gets.

  3. The standard defense round for a .357 mag is 158 gr. JHP. What are you going to put in your 9mm that will compete with that? Velocity is only one factor; you must also apply surface area and mass. If you like the fact that a 9mm doesn’t recoil as much as .357mag and costs a lot less to shoot; that’s what you should use. If you want a powerful round; you can do that with the .357 LCR. If you want a round that’s easier for you to shoot; you can also do that with the .357 by shooting .38’s. The .357 LCR has more versatility, doesn’t use moon clips, and is more powerful; so it gets my vote.

  6. Thanks folks.  After I posted this we had to head out to meet some friends for a birthday dinner.  We also had to give our agent an answer about the pending offers.  We ended up telling her that we were going to wait and give the investment group until Monday to give us their offer.   As many have said in this thread now, any time you deal with the government whether it is FHA or VA, there are many more chances for it to go sideways.   The investment group offer was full asking price, cash, with a simple inspection to make sure there was never any flood or fire damage or structural problems.  None of those are of any worry to us, so this looks like it will be the easiest AND fastest way out of that old property.   Keeping our fingers crossed and praying we made the right decision.  :)

  7. As some of you know, I just turned 18 with 22 years experience last week. Got my blood results back today and lets say they are better then when I was 25.   Since Christmas I have drop 40 pounds, 3 inches off my waist.(second year in a row lost 3 inches).   The biggest change I made was since Feb 23 to April 22 I had ZERO fast food.   I cooked most of my meals at home and was pretty careful on what I eat.  Allot of homemade chili if you aren't from Texas as it did have beans.   My Total Cholesterol  went from 168 to 110.  My LDL was about 55.  (don't have the paper in front of me) My Triglycerides went from 271 last year to 91.    I was floored when I saw that 110.  I remembered joking with him at the office that I had made big changes and I would be hurt if I hadn't got down to 150.       During my visit my doctor had said the main thing he would like to see my Triglyceride and weight to come down.  He still would like to see my drop 80 pounds.  I am going to try.  This has been an eye opener.   With the fit bit I have been much more active but that only started about a week before my doctor's visit so I know that wasn't a big factor.    I really believe it was the avoiding fast food for 2 months made that big of a difference.  I intend to keep that up with the new walking.   I had been over 300 cholesterol about 5 years ago, diet and exercise then got me to 230. Then I  taking some cholesterol medicine for the past 2 or 3 years.  That was only getting me from about 230 to the 170 range.    I also remember in my 20's I was always around 200, (fast food) but years ago anything under 200 was considered fine, now I think they want closer to 100.

  17. I ankle carry a j-frame. This is the only place I ankle carry or carry a j-frame. I don't pocket carry, ever and inside the waist is a nightmare with tucked in shirts. My pastor carries, had some death threats a few years back after divulging info to police told in confidence by a member to him, he did the right thing. He carries a LCP on the ankle.

  18. I don't do church, but if I did I'd carry.   A church is not some safe place magically protected by Jesus.  There has been killing in churches.   I look at it this way  I go to the IGA near here.  Far as I know there has never been a violent crime committed there or on their property.  I still carry.

Just because records are public does not make it right for anyone, especially the "news", to go spouting out the details of someone else's business.  There are too many nuts in this day and age to just give out information like that.   EDIT:   Just read this update.  Most thorough reporting I've seen in a long time.  You just can't make this stuff up....http://www.knoxnews.com/news/watchful-eye/gun-used-to-kill-burglar-had-been-stolen-before

  22. Well, I'm in the kitchen cooking up a pot of venison chili right now. Got me thinking about a few things. One, I miss talking to y'all in these threads about the current deer season, hearing the good and bad stories . Two, at least a few of our months of waiting after last season ended are over. Bow season will be here before ya know it. Three, June is next month and my mount should be done from last year's buck. All in all, I miss deer season and all that goes with it!

  23. Your priest ought to check out Nehemiah 4. Start around verse 8 and go through to the end of the chapter. I've always found the account in the Garden of Gethsemane to be interesting - specifically the part where the disciple cuts off the guy's ear with the sword. It's not like these were hid under their garments. Jesus certainly knew they were there. Now mind you, Jesus chose not to fight and go to his death - but, his disciples had weapons in his midst.

  28. I've personally never seen a gunbuster at any church I've visited, to include churches in KS, MO, FL, ME, DE, NH, MA, MD, and probably some others. I don't recommend anyone try something at my church. I know where the SD9 sits, the fullsize M&P40 with crimson trace laser sits, the J frame sits, the Sig 938 sits, the PX4 sits, and the Shield plays bass guitar. There are probably more. From the sound booth to the stage, the classrooms to the halls, we are not an unprotected flock.

  29. Springfield armory was the best value in a 1911 for years. Until I started testing Arsenal 1911s. For the price point and number of models they have introduced over the last couple of years I have been very impressed with them overall. Just got my hands on my second .22TCM, a tactical with full railed dust cover. They are now making long slide versions. All of them I have handled have had good triggers and been reliable. A very good base gun to turn into a full house custom as well. Just my opinion. Worth what you paid for.

  30. It stinks in there. Is it the building or do gun owners stink? I didn’t pay attention to the fact it left. I only live a few miles from there and went a few times. Like all others though I didn’t see any deals. I think gun shows are dead. Why should dealers drag all their guns to a gun show when they can sit in their shop and sell them just as easily?

  31. Spot on. And we (the people) did that. The vast majority of people that work aren’t out committing crimes. That’s why the first thing I want to know from a Politician is what ideas does he/she have to bring jobs and a better economy to this country. But I understand that they are limited in what they can do, it’s up to us and we have turned our back. Quit trying to figure out how you get more money for bigger jails and get a plan to get our manufacturing base back.

  38. I'm quite frankly amazed that folks are so concerned about this keeping of info quiet thing, and so concerned about "reprisals" and "revenge"... It is a given that "bad people" are "bad people"; and that the news media is "irresponsible"... They always have been... I'll also add that that the "bad population" seems to be a bit emboldened, and that the media is stupider and more careless than ever before...   The whole idea of taking responsibility for your protection and the protection of those in your care is to, in fact, be ready and willing to provide that protection should the need (...God forbid...) ever arise...   I grew up with men (...and women...) that lived that way every day... They knew who the bad folks were and confronted them head on... They were not looking for trouble, but they were perfectly capable of solving the trouble should it arise; just as the guy in the news article we are talkin about did...     I understand being a bit edgy... I'm edgy too... That's why im armed to the teeth...  I'm a 68 year old gimped up old geezer that is a coumadin patient... Most anybody could hurt me bad or kill me; they just aint goin to if i can get my hand in my pocket or to my big pistol or shotgun; and they damn sure aint gonna hurt my family or those in my care if im around to prevent it...   The moral of this little story is that you better not be willin to finish off those commin to steal your stuff, rape your wife and children, and kill you if you are afraid of "reprisals" and "revenge"... You better be ready to string 'em as ya catch 'em; or just let them take your stuff, rape your family, and kill you if you are worried about "reprisals"... ...I may be a bit simple minded; but i just cant wrap my mind about that kind of thinkin...   Here's hopin that no one ever has to go thru that sort of horrific trouble; but it's far better that you finish them; than that that they have their way and finish you, your family, and whoever else is standin around because you are worried that they have buddies that may take a "reprisal" or "revenge" on you; should you live thru the first round of trouble... I would rather be dead, than to know that i stood by and let family or those in my care be murdered and pillaged while i stood around worrin about the current malefactor's kin or gang brothers commin after me later....   Ya better decide in your "heart of hearts" what ya are willin to do ahead of time... When they are kickin in the door, or killin you wife and kids, there ain't time for makin these sort of decisions... Ya better decide ahead of time what ya are gonna do... I have; and i would suggest that you do the same...   I say..."..."the hell with the first bunch and whatvever bunch comes next..."... Your mileage may vary...   leroy

  40. You just can't go wrong with a Tacoma. My father has driven them for years and driven them hard. His 1995, 2.7 liter had 500k miles. I have owned two, and I only got rid of my last one because I wanted a new Wrangler. Yes, Tacomas cost a lot, but they are worth it, and you will not lose money it. I traded my 2013 in after 18 months/20k miles and lost all of $2500.

  41. My vote would be a F150 crew cab (for a growing family) the newer models with eco boost will get you decent gas mileage. I don't know your definition of good gas mileage but my 6.2L gets 16mpg hwy and my buddy eco boost V6 3.5 L twin turbo gets 22mpg hwy...

  42. Top three are Toyota, Toyota & Toyota. A little more money now but with good maintenance it will be there. A customer of mine has an older 2wd with the 22R 4cyl. Last time we talked he had around 480K on it. A few clutches, a water pump, belts and hoses and such...but other than that, just oil changes.

  43. Yep...ants here too. We typically use Borax to make super cheap ant bait:   http://www.instructables.com/id/Kill-household-ants---Super-cheaply/   For a few hours...you will see A LOT of ants running to and from the bait. Later, you won't see any. We usually have to do this several times a summer. We've had good success with it.

  44. Just got back. Great show. A bit confused though. There were NO POSTINGS. Not even improper ones. A person with a valid permit should be allowed to carry. They were patting EVERYONE down on the way in. Here's the confusing part. WHY BOTHER?!!!? They obviously have NO clue how to pat anyone down. Some of our members here who are seasoned veteran police officers will place their palms over their face at this I'm sure. They patted me down. I was passed right on through. I had a Kimber Solo, two magazines, a surefire flashlight, my Spyderco & a mini canister of pepper spray. They never found any of it and it wouldn't have taken a BCS to find it either! WTF? Not to mention my keys w/ monkey fist and a chain on my wallet. I love me some metal concert but if they wanna act stupid........ Crazy man...crazy.

  48. Want to make some scratch? Cheese? Coin? Loot? Dollar bills? Ever fancy yourself a bounty hunter? :) Websites like TGO need advertisers to stay afloat, let alone grow bigger and better and make it possible to do cooler things. To date we've been fortunate -- blessed even -- to have our advertisers find us. We've never had to go hunting for them, and honestly I've never really wanted to. I just don't like selling. I'm not a "sales guy" and I hate cold-calling. But recently I had a member approach me with a prospective advertiser and asked if I'd hook them up. So I did. And I also felt like I owed that member something in return... so I did something for that person too. Which brought to mind an idea: Pretty much everyone here has their list of favorite shops to do business with. But how many of those favorite shops support your favorite local forum by advertising with us? All of them? Some of them? None of them? Could you maybe help us by convincing them to sign on with us? Because if you can, and they tell me that YOU are the reason they signed on as an advertiser, I'll gladly kick a commission payment your way. :) So, what's the motivation? I'll make no bones about this: I'd like to eventually quit working for the man Monday - Friday and make TGO something of a full time job. I'd love nothing more than to work on new features, new content, videos, blogs, reviews, etc. all for the TGO community. But in order for that to happen, we need more advertisers and I'd be glad to share some of our increased success with anyone who helps get us there. If you are instrumental in helping bring a new advertiser on board, I owe you a debt of gratitude and I'd like to put some money back in your pocket to say thanks. Let's talk! For details, contact me privately.
