  1. I haven't had that issue, but I would certainly leave negative feedback for someone that didn't show up. That is about the only recourse we have. If they post without a price listed, they are probably new to TGO so a good indication to not get your hopes up too much. It is unfortunately a part of the current situation. On the other side, I have dealt with some new guys that have been great. I feel it is important we don't lump them all in to one group, but certainly we need to hold all to our standards (at least when selling ).

  2. Been here less than a year. Post when I feel like I should. Try to stay out of the dog house with other members. I have only made on purchase from another member and had no issues whatsoever. In the few months I've been a member I have seen a change myself in the members both new and established. I believe it is a sign of the time we are in. Everyone is nervous and edgy, there is very little trust and zero tolerance. If I am buying I expect to go to where the seller is or chooses. If I am uncomfortable, I would just back out. Some seem to believe they should just not show. As for sales,,,I'm not selling. Every gun I have sold save one I want back. And even that one I believe could have been repaired. I made one deal and asked the man who is local if he would like to meet at the Sherriff's office or police dept. He told me to come to his house. I was a little nervous but went anyway. I met a very nice man, older than myself. he showed me his house his radio controlled airplanes, his HAM equipment. I met his dog, saw a room with many arms. we talked for about an hour and a half. One never knows. mutual respect needs to be restored or society is doomed.

  4. I do not think the TGO is changing. But I am a little wary of a new member with zero posts and zero feedback. However, there was a time that we all were in that boat.

  6. Permitless carry has some limitations that enhanced HCP doesn't have. Enhanced HCP has reciprocity with many other states in case you travel. Don't think your prior training other than military will count.

  7. You buy from me, you come to me, or we can meet somewhere at my convenience. I will do the same when buying from you. I usually go into a deal expecting the other party to not show up. I'm not wasting a lot of time and gas chasing rainbows.

  8. yea I agree, like I said just venting a little. I'm not going to travel anywhere for anyone that hasnt been here for at least a year anymore. I guess anything I sell from here on out will have that stipulation.

  9. I too feel that the world has gone nuts. Very comforting to have a place like this where we can commiserate and share our thoughts. Just think, soon they'll try to outlaw that, too. I have found that 'speaking with my wallet' to be effective at making me feel better. I haven't gone into that place since they started their shenanigans with gun sales. Never will, either. Hope to see you in bankruptcy! Yelling at the manager is pointless with big corporations like that. They don't have a choice in what the policy is, and failure to enforce could = losing their job. I will politely inform the salaried employee why I am leaving without purchasing the product, and leave it at that. "Amazon makes another sale!" I'll mention on my way out the door.

  10. I met a guy last week that was excited because he bought 1000 rounds of 9mm for $750... As long as people continue to pay those prices we're going to be stuck in this situation a while.

  12. Up until the most recent "scare" I have never had an issue with anyone doing what they say they are going to do on TGO. Recently I have had a no show (guy is gone from TGO apparently), and an issue where someone has offered up a gun I was looking for then broke off communication completely when I asked for a price. I guess its the times now. I was raised to do what I said I was going to do when I said I was going to do it. I have passed up higher offers on guns and accessories after I had verbally committed to a deal with another person, even on Armslist. Its the right thing to do. Sorry just venting a little.

  13. I went to the Rivergate Academy this morning, went to get a couple of accessories for my new pellet grill. While shopping I picked up an Otis Gun Cleaning Kit for my 9mm, I get in line and some poor fellow was trying to return something he bought. Well he was told that if he didn't have his receipt they were only going to give him a refund of half of what the item cost it was $30 total and they were only going to refund him $15.99, now to my check out experience. After he told them to shove it I go to check out, now I've been in line for 15minutes waiting on them to decide if they were going to refund his money, the check out lady starts to ring me up gets to the Otis Cleaning Kit and asks for my ID to buy it, well I lost it I asked her what she said cause I wasn't sure why she asked me for my ID. Well I'm probably not allowed back in there after I gave the manager a piece of my mind on how stupid it is to ask for ID when buying a gun cleaning kit. Oh well I won't shop there or any of their stores ever again.

  14. Ran about 100-125 assorted thru mine last week as well. Assorted brands. Mostly crap stuff and some WWB. Ate them all and asked for more. I seriously like this pistol...PC model, 4" non-ported, no safety. Keeper!

  17. I'm well on the chubby side and carry a P365 in an Alien Gear IWB holster at 4 o'clock. It's so comfortable that I never really feel it there. IMHO if you're going to carry, then carry. The reality is that you won't get to choose when (hopefully and likely never) you need to have it. Better to be looking at it than looking for it. The other obvious piece is regular training and drills with your setup so you can draw from different positions and engage targets in different directions.

  18. Midway is no friend to gun enthusiasts. They have taken part in price gouging for ammo and components. $90+ dollars per 1000 primers when they had some in stock last month. That was before the hazmat shipping fees. You gouge on prices because of perceived shortages and you have lost my business.

  19. On the brighter side, I'm sure that sales at the alternative "dry fire practice gadgets" companies is healthily in the black. That's also probably a safer intro to gun-handling and shooting mechanics for the new shooters, providing that they enlist experienced tutelage.

  20. When selling here, I've experienced more "looks like they just created an account for the Classifieds" contacts than in the past. Sign o' the times I guess. While I can't blame them, neither do I want to deal with a complete unknown. So I'm much more picky on communications permissions. As for FTF dealings, I always make sure that we exchange phone numbers before the public meetup and I confirm that meetup via text before I get on the road. So far so good.

  23. She lost me when she started up with the whole "systemic racism", there is no credible evidence that this is the case, at least in how they portray it. Yes, there are a bunch of examples of racism, but to say it's "systemic" means we have policies in place that purposefully discriminate because of race. In fact, I'd argue that it is the opposite.

  24. Life in section 8 is very different than in your regular neighborhoods, I grew up with friends and acquaintances in many a "jets" and lived right across the street from one. The problem is that when you get that many low income people all grouped up together, of any race as my peeps are Hispanic, you get crime and an us against them mentality. The government has tried to scatter those communities, but by then it has become a way of life for them and the crime spreads instead of stopping. The solution is to try and instill the values and work ethic required to succeed, but like others have said, it is something that needs to come from within, but the gov has worked hard at making them dependent on them and breaking up family units so there is nobody there to instill those values.

  25. That's for sure, I never thought I would live long enough to see what's happening in this country. It's ridiculous what this day in age has come to, you need three different bathrooms so you don't offend anyone, then if you say anything about it or say anything else about anything in general, they want to stone you for it. Even going to Kroger's for groceries is a an adventure for me, it's hell getting old I guess this Cancer diagnosis I got has made me just sit back and take a good hard look at life, and I have to say it's unbelievable how some people just get on my last nerve.

  27. If that's their policy, I won't patronage their stores even if they had buy 1000rnds get 500 free. I'm old and cranky, just about had enough of the stupidity.

  28. I get your frustration but there is a reason they say not to shoot the messenger. Check out lady, and even the store manager probably have zero decision making ability on that one. I'm sure that's a corporate policy.

  30. I've got good news and bad news: The good news is, we're not of this dying world and it's not meant to be our home. We're just passing through. The bad news is that we're still called to be salt and light to it so we have to make a go of it while we're here. Any time some Leftist tells the world how much they hate me and my Christian brothers and sisters, I just smile and remember that Jesus said that they would and that they hated Him first. That tells me we're on the right path even if it's getting darker around us and the path sometimes harder to see.

  33. People are certainly paying more than I've ever seen before. I don't doubt pricing will trend back some once herd settles down but it certainly looks like a +10-20% may be the new norm... sadly.

  34. I have, and occasionally still do carry on a couple of different locales. The reality is that you’re going to just have to figure out what works for you by trial and error. No way around it. I’ve got a gut, but primarily carry AIWB with a sidecar. Pistol at 12/12:30. There is a comfort penalty, but that’s where I prefer it. It doesn’t work for everyone. I have carried at 3:30/4 o’clock. Anything further back, while generally concealing ok, just feels too far back to get to quickly and efficiently. A quality holster and a quality, dedicated gunbelt are a necessity if you wish to carry well. Without those two items, be prepared for a long struggle until you eventually drop the coin you needed to drop in the first place.

  39. I am a harsh critic of social media, and understand the desire to not a lump it in with news sources. The problem is that it is at odds with our current reality. Most people now get their news from social media instead of network news sources or print outlets. Is it to the detriment of society at large, absolutely. That said, it is the current state of affairs as it exists.

  44. One male juvenile dead, one school resource officer wounded. Hardly a “mass shooting”. Not trying to make light of a bad situation now that the facts are coming out and as there have now been five kids associated with Austin-East high school shot and killed this year.

  46. No offense taken, as it's not my skin at all... Just saying that there seems to be a double standard when it comes to prices. To be clear, I PERSONALLY have no interest in paying 100.00 for 100 rounds of 9mm or 556... or 250 for 1k of primers...but there are those who...due to lack of foresight or situation...may choose to do just that. And that is just one of the reasons the current supply/demand situation will keep feeding itself.

  47. I don’t think it would matter whether I had stocked up or not. I’d throw rocks before I paid a quarter apiece for primers.

  49. Yep, my call for people to end the practice of Slacktivism and put their own skin in the game. It was a great idea and maybe some folks did it, but the sad fact you are a rare bird if you do. I have very little faith in any political party. I identify as a Constitutional, Christian Conservative. There isn't a party that represents me anymore.
