1.
Unlike McCandless, I actually have survival training. Not really. I have dated off and on over the years, but with my PTSD meds, my sexual desire is mostly dead, so not much point in dating. I don't buy much, but I do spend money on good food. Being healthy is important, so that is worth it. If I meet a woman one day, I'll know she is the right one if she isn't materialistic. They are out there. I met a few on my Appalachian Trail hike. Women are pretty crazy though. It's not envy, just anger and annoyance at growing up seeing your mom suffer and in pain, and not be able to afford medical care, but there are people living in monster mansions, driving 80K cars, and blowing money right and left. That's the biggest thing. Everyone has a right to medical care. I care because consumerism affects everyone else. As for the banning thing, I was on this forum 6 years. I'm usually better in real life, but I have PTSD and a few other mental issues, so I get kinda crazy on occasion, and I was drunk that night. I knew I was pushing it, but a lot of the private property comments had irritated the hell out of me. People are willing to fight for their rights when it comes to the government infringing on them, but they are fine with a person infringing on their rights if they are on that person's property. Doesn't make any sense. Anyways, I have access to quite a few computers, so don't bother banning me again. I'm sure you will, as a general principle, though. I'm usually pretty decent in person, I've hung out with a few people here, had the CIS handgun class with members and the glock disassembly class Todd did a few years ago. It is just forums have the same problem as texting, there is no body language, so it is easy to misconstrue things said and take them the wrong way. Have a good day gentlemen.
You still don't get it. You're not entitled to squat and neither was your mom. Nobody owes you medical care. As sad as it may be, it doesn't erase the fact that things coat money and folks aren't going to work for free. You think you're owed something for nothing. Someone who has lots of money had earned the right to have stuff and spend their money however they see fit. That isn't up to you to decide who gets what and how much. I have money. I earned it. You don't deserve a dime of it and neither did your sick mom. Especially since it seems you aren't willing to compromise any of your silly ass hang ups to get the things you want.

 2. If there is anyone I can say should not own or be around firearms it is him. He is disgruntled, has self control issues, he blames others for his own failures, he has self admitted "mental health issues", believes there is an injustice that must be fixed and he has a gun. And although he hasn't said it I suspect he self medicates as well. All those things seem like a similar recipe as a lot of the mass shooters. As TMF said, there is but one person to blame for his situation and that is him. We all come into this world with the same opportunities and anyone can become successful if they try. I will not post it again but I am proof positive that no matter how miserable you think your situation is you can overcome adversity. I wish him all the success he longs for, and wish his mother well, but until he quits putting up roadblocks to his success he will not be successful.

 4. A savvy user can (and has) managed to create a new account.  There are limitations to technology, and so if you're really inclined, you can get back on.  If you were to keep quiet about your former identity and change your tone a bit, we're probably not going to boot you.   But, the thing about it is, is that most of the users who recreate accounts are just narcissistic enough to not be able to do either of those two things.  They are in fact their own worst enemies.

 8.   People like him chose to erect obstacles within their own life as a way to ensure they'll never succeed, thus making their behavior and choices acceptable by default.  Reading his posts make is so obvious.  He complains about something and comes up with a reason why he can't do or achieve or overcome an obstacle that he set in the way.  He has been here repeatedly complaining about not being able to get a good job and make decent money, then cites the reasons as circumstances he created.  He can't work here because they have this rule.  He can't work there because the work conditions.  All businesses are corrupt (yet he expects them to pay him).    Then he complains about women, yet he has ridiculous criteria and expectations.  That's like me saying "I will only settle for a woman who will earn all the money while I stay at home playing video games, she'll cook and clean and fellate me every day on command.  Anything less than this isn't worth it."  Of course he is lonely.  He is a narcissist who thinks every person in the world exists to accommodate him, yet he owes nothing to anyone.  I sure hope he remains lonely.  God help us if he breeds.

 9. One more for the OP. The rifle you have is really great for the price. In fact, if I was forced to only own one AR15, that would be in the top few I'd be choosing from. Getting a super whizzbang AR15 is really just for show, kinda folks who have a classic car they keep looking nice, or the dude who spends his weekend getting his lawn and flower bed looking absolutely perfect. With the exception of people who are involved in shooting sports, you don't need much gun. Most of us here can't afford the amount of ammo it takes to shoot out a barrel, and if we did we could just buy a new barrel for a couple hundred bucks. So there is no logical reason why you need a more expensive AR. The one you have is not only nice, it will do everything you'll ever need it to do, except for look as cool as some of the douchebags on arfcom. Nothing wrong with having an expensive, cool looking AR. Many of us here do. But none of us will say that there is a logical purpose other than it being a friggin awesome dispenser of freedom sounds which make chicks hot and liberals wet their pants.

 10. President Obama walks into a local bank in Chicago to cash a check. He is surrounded by Secret Service agents. As he approaches the cashier he says, "Good morning Ma'am, could you please cash this check for me?" Cashier: "It would be my pleasure sir. Could you please show me your ID?" ... Obama: "Truthfully, I did not bring my ID with me as I didn't think there was any need to. I am President Barack Obama, the President of the United States of AMERICA !!!!" Cashier: "Yes sir, I know who you are, but with all the regulations and monitoring of the banks because of 9/11, impostors, forgers, money laundering, and bad mortgage underwriting not to mention requirements of the Dodd/Frank legislation, etc., I must insist on seeing ID." Obama: “Just ask anyone here at the bank who I am and they will tell you. Everybody knows who I am." Cashier: "I am sorry Mr. President but these are the bank rules and I must follow them." Obama: "I am urging you, please, to cash this check. I need to buy a gift for Michelle for Valentine’s Day" Cashier: "Look Mr. President, here is an example of what we can do. One day, Tiger Woods came into one of our bank branches without ID. To prove he was Tiger Woods he pulled out his putter and made a beautiful shot across the bank into a coffee cup. With that shot we knew him to be Tiger Woods and cashed his check.” “Another time, Andre Agassi came into the same place without ID. He pulled out his tennis racquet and made a fabulous shot where as the tennis ball landed in a coffee cup. With that shot we cashed his check. So, Mr. President, what can you do to prove that it is you, and only you, as the President of the United States?" Obama: Obama stands there thinking, and thinking, and finally says, "Honestly, my mind is a total blank...there is nothing that comes to my mind. I can't think of a single thing. I have absolutely no idea what to do and I don’t have a clue.” Cashier: "Will that be large or small bills, Mr. President?

 13. To me, he seemed like that annoying guy that used to smoke, and would do it anywhere, anytime, and didn't care who's face the smoke blew into. The world be damned, it's my right to smoke if I want. Then for whatever reason they decide to quit, and they never shut up about how everyone else should quit too.   He has his ideas about how life should be and likes to share them, and that's fine, but sheesh, sometimes you gotta give it a rest.   I remember him from a couple of years ago when he did the AT. I really enjoyed reading his posts. Since he came back to TGO, his posts immediately got under my skin. It's like he's a completely different person.

 15. From reviewing your desired capabilities, I think you'd be best served by just keeping the .30-06 you already have... maybe use the "new rifle" money to put a really good scope on it?  (That being said, I have no idea what you are using now....)   I never realized how much "good" optics helped until I used a few.

 17. I'll wade into this......I CC 99.9% of the time. The .1% I OC is when I'm doing something around the house or maybe just driving around doing things that don't require me to get out of the car.  I'm not out to make political statement or "spook the herd". I tend to keep it covered up and avoid problems....out of sight out of mind.    With regards to the "slowness" of CC.....drawing a gun is a skill set that, like any other skill set, is a combination of actions that need to be practiced to be done effectively , efficiently and quickly.  It does not just "happen". You have to know how to clear the cover garment, grip the pistol, lift and drive it to the target.    People who actually practice this can draw so fast you cannot see it. It looks like they wave their hand and a gun appears. I shoot IDPA matches(and carry in everyday life)  with a glock 34 in an IWB (INSIDE the waistband ) holster covered with a closed front garment......yet my draw to first shot time is usually in the .70 to .90 of a second time frame on an idpa target at 5 yards or less. So I don't buy the whole "CC is too slow".  EVERYTHING is slow...if you don't devote time to practicing it.   The bigger issue really is awareness and picking up on what is happening and doing something BEFORE you get so deep in the hole that whether you live or die is determined by whether your draw is faster from OC or CC.....most victims say the same thing after an assault/robbery...."I never saw it coming ...I looked up and there they were".... that is probably not where you want to be if the determined BG sees your gun before you see him.....   And the generally accepted # is that about 10% of police officers killed are killed with their own guns. Police carry their guns openly and because of that they use a retention holster and are trained in disarms and weapon retention. How many typical OC guys have been trained in disarms and weapon retention? Or even carry in a retention holster?    So carry however you wish, but at least be educated about the issues.

The orange is in support of your favorite team and the reflective tape is so you don't get run over on the highway while performing community service.

 20. I think carrying either way should be up to the individual.....not the government. That being said I prefer not  to broadcast to the entire world that I'm armed. Like so many other things in life I feel it's nobody's business.

 21. I OC a lot. I live in a fairly rural area where a lot of folks have their permits, so it's not unusual to see OC here.   I will admit that I put my shirt over the grip on a regular basis when a store is fairly busy/crowded... not that so many folks really notice it to begin with. If it's semi-covered with a shirt, it's as good as IWB, in a sense, for most of the population's situational awareness. When I'm going into a larger area or out of state (especially out of state), I tend to conceal more often than not. I picked up a pocket 9mm for those occasions when I need to be more dressy or want to travel light and still want to carry.   We are privileged in this state to have a choice between OC or concealed, with an AG opinion to match. As long as a person walks, talks, and acts right, let them choose what and how is best for their own situation.   :2cents:

 22. I wouldn't worry about how a stranger carries. I don't know them or their situation so I'm not really one to judge whether it works well for them or not. Personally I think retention holsters are pointless if your not a cop, but I won't knock anyone for wanting or using one.

 24. I don't have any problems with contrarian views on things. While AB28's most recent posts would have been better in their own thread - as opposed to junking up someone else's - as a staff we have zero issue with contrarian views. And frankly, we encourage those debates so long as they're civil and the participants are willing to bring more to the conversation than rote talking points. AB28's last two posts were racist in a way that was so over the top that I have to believe it was intentionally provocative. I don't think anyone of my generation uses that language without knowing exactly what they're doing. We strive to create community here. As a general rule, I think we do a pretty good job, and our members are just as responsible as the staff for creating that. We will have no tolerance for racist language. It makes me sad if you feel that in your own life, but to be clear, if you express that language here you're gone. Period.

 38. If your like me you get your pants on , jeans , kakis , etc. , the next thing you do is decide what gun will go with your shirt or belt , decisions decisions .... Or the opposite , which belt and shirt best cover your gun .... How many times have you looked for a bigger shirt to cover the grip of your .45 ? Regardless , have you ever dropped the whole rig while putting the belt on ? One time while saddling my Sig 226 I dropped the whole thing , the pistol and holster hit the floor , ding in the wood floor and a loud enough noise to wake the dead ; my wife came to the back of the house and asked what I broke .... When I saddle up now I always lay the pistol ( revolver or my .45 ) on the bed put my belt on , then the holster and then plant the pistol. Dropped firearms are never a good thing , be safe out there. Hey , I'm old and goofy , cut me some slack ....

 39.
Most males are minimalists until they meet a woman. I suppose I'd be living in a tiny cockroach apartment if I was single. Hell, I did when I was single. Upgrading to a home and nice things isn't selling out. Every person had to change a little for the person we love. Otherwise I'd have crappy furniture and eating chili dogs and ramen noodles nonstop with a chaser of PBR. I changed some of my ways not because I sold out. I just value the wants and desires of my wife more than my own. Thinking that your needs are more important than having a meaningful relationship is a technique, but you'll miss out on a lot.
Before we got married my wife would hardly even come inside my apartment unless it was to clean that crack dump. I have absolutely zero desire to return to that. Once you've tasted steak it's hard to go back to spam.

The point I'm trying to get across is the thug busting through my back door doesn't need to have access to Body Armor. If you're a law biding citizen as you are, if you want it and can afford it...go for it. Make procedures that have to be followed to get it. Just anyone buying body armor off of ebay and through the mail is what needs banned. Dave
I agree 100% with you. Why don't we just go a step further and ban criminals from owning guns? Then body armor or not, they'll be harmless? Or a home run move and make breaking and entering/home invasions illegal!

 44. The Marine Corps still uses a loop sling for Known distance shooting. We spend hours learning to loop up and stay in postion, even when it hurts. There is a week of dry fire and postion practice in Boot Camp and then every year before qualifying on the range. Some guys use grip pods, but they aren't allowed when qualifying on the range.
