I've never done business with Bud's and really don't know much about the company or its business practices. So I can't comment about them. But I did read several really nasty rants by PO'd customers on a couple of different forums. Each and every one of them amounted to the same thing. Some person missed out on a deal they felt they should have been entitled to get and immediately jumped on the internet to whine, cry, blame and generally act like a spoiled child. So for the benifit of those who may have missed it when growing up: Life ain't fair, you don't always get what you want. Deal with it.3 points

Yeah I've got one of those in my head too. Mines three words and can't be printed here since this is a family friendly forum, but the third word is "yourselves", and the first word is "go", so I'm sure you all can piece together the rest.3 points

Thanks to a trade with "BerettaBri" my full size USP 45 now has a companion. Here's my, new to me, H&K USP 45 Compact. Unfortunately, I didn't get to hit the range with it today, but this evening I took it apart to give it a good once over. It was already very clean so all I really had to do was add my choice of lube to the rail/slide area. BerettaBri was a great guy to deal with & I'm really looking forward to putting some rounds through the compact & possibly adding it to my carry rotation. Hopefully a range report will shortly follow. :up:2 points

Got a trophy today! Biggest buck so far for me. We have worked really hard on our property, taking off tons of does and letting nice, but younger, bucks walk to help raise our age structure. This bruiser was 4.5 maybe 5.5 years old. The processor was shocked how big his body was, hard to tell from the pics, but he has had quite good nutrition since we took the property over. Anyways, I am super excited and getting him mounted! Made a perfect double lung shot at ~100 yards. He is a 10pt. I thought he would hit 200lbs, but he weighed in at 180. Get a set of flexible connector hoses to fit your installation. Cut back your hot and cold water lines to a point you can reach with the flexible hoses. Install the proper fitting on your hot and cold lines, connect your hoses and Bob's yer uncle. The next time you have to replace the tank, it'll be that much easier.2 points

Assessing land value can sometimes be difficult, especially with the type of land you're describing. In a case like this, a traditional appraisal isn't always easy to figure. You need to compare apples to apples, while they are possibly comparing apples to oranges. Have you been able to find similar plots of land in the general area that have sold in the not so distant past? The county is placing a generic value on the land because they have to. In this case, I'm not sure you can put a whole lot of faith in their assessment. If you are serious about this land, you'll need to do your homework and put together a proposal explaining your reasoning behind an offer that's lower than the sellers asking price. If the land is truly useless, the reasons why need to be pointed out in your proposal. Is this a desirable piece of property? How long has it been on the market? Are there other similar plots for sale in the area? If so, what are they priced at, and how long have they been on the market? You mentioned the possibility of harvesting the wood. is there any real value there to the average person? is there a significant amount of harvesting going on in the area? Can you build on this property? Are their any costs associated with making this property useful to the average person? How badly does the current owner want to sell? Is the current owner someone who the property was handed down from a deceased relative? There a countless factors that go into assessing the real value of land like this. In the end, like most anything, the value is determined by what someone is willing to pay for it. While it may be almost useless to you, maybe someone else will find it to be more useful and valuable. If it were me, I'd try to set up a meeting with the land owner and/or agent to get a feel for where their head is at. I'd prefer if the land owner was present because the agent is a salesperson, and you're not likely to get a real feel for what's going on in the owners head. Have a list of questions you may want to ask, but don't reveal too much about where your head is at. Let them do most of the talking. After the meeting, go home and go over what you learned from them and your research. Put together your offer and the reasons why you feel it's an appropriate and acceptable. Including your reasoning behind the offer can sometimes open their eyes to a reality they may not have considered. The worst they can say is "no".2 points

Offer 1.3 an acre and tell him to think about it maybe since that is what *you* think it is worth. If you have the money ready and he is a motivated buyer, you might be able to make a deal. If not, move on or raise your bid. Sounds to me like closer to 2k is where a deal could be made though.2 points

The only reason I don't is because they're just slightly more likely to misfire. The up side is that most people can be deadly accurate with one.2 points

I have purchased, sold, traded, shot, cleaned, worked on, and inspected literally more than a hundred Taurus revolvers, both on my own and while helping a friend with an FFL business. I have also done the same with a similar number of revolvers from other makers including Colt, S&W, Ruger, etc. As a firearms instructor and gunsmith I tend to see a good bit more than your average shooter, and I am extremely detailed when inspecting and cleaning guns, often taking more than 1 hour per gun and using a jeweler's loupe, borescope, and headlamp for inspection. My personal collection has contained MANY Taurus revolvers, from old Rossi guns to the modern Titanium guns and everywhere in between. In all of my experience I have never seen a bad gun from Taurus, or any defects in their workmanship or performance. They are well made, work properly, and they hold up just fine. I've never needed to use the lifetime warranty but I like having it just in case. Now they aren't the Cadillac of the gun world, that's for sure. The Colts, S&Ws, Dan Wessons, etc. have a higher quality fit and finish, and sometimes a few more features, but that's why they cost so much more. I have owned many of those other guns too and love them, but when it comes to simple reliable shooting I trust the Taurus revolvers to perform just as well as the fancy looking guns. Now I absolutely detest the Taurus semiautos, mainly because I dislike their design and find them to be ugly and less ergonomic than their competitors, and also a few of them are pretty cheaply made, and there are better quality options in the same price range, so I don't own or shoot any of the Taurus semiautos, but I never hesitate with their revolvers. So that's my $0.02, perhaps worth just a penny more than someone who has only handled, sold, or shot a few guns, but to each his own.2 points

So I wonder if it was planned that Mothers Demand Action use the same call letters as Muscular Dystrophy Association? Personally, I would not even respond to their silliness. These types thrive on the attention they create and receive. They would "die on the vine" if no one even acknowledged them.2 points

I think wcd just invented a new word: snoob noun - derogatory 1. a person who is new to the shooting sports yet insists on the need for high-end professional firearms and gear. 2. a person who believes himself or herself an expert or connoisseur of firearms despite limited experience. Origin 2014 First used on web forum Tennessee Gun Owners by member wcd. A combination of "snob" and "n00b". Examples for snoob After shooting skeet for the first time with his boss, Jerry sold his kidney in Mexico and bought a Krieghoff K80 Competition. What a snoob. That snoob shot his cousin's Ed Brown 1911. Now he thinks he's too good for my blinged out Taurus 1911 with the gold trigger. A snoob says: "You can't use an AR with an HBAR to clear rooms. I went to a class in Vegas and that's what the SEALRangerGreenBeretDelta instructor told me."2 points

I've killed a bunch of deer over there. I usually hunt up above Fate Sanders. Used to hunt it a lot. Just kind of a pain messing with a boat but I prefer places that are hard to get to by land. Really not very fun hunting when it's cold and you have to go by boat. Or it's super foggy and it takes 2 hours to get where you want to go. I killed this one over there opening day year before last:1 point

Kind of off topic, there use to be a service out of Seymour. Once while at local hamburger grill in Sevierville, I saw one of their trucks pull up, it was lunch. The driver got out and came in for dinner. He sat right beside me. Whew, he stunk. He really did!1 point

To me that sounds like saying you should let the cops search your car if you have nothing to hide. Cops have a right to privacy too. Personal conversations go on, tempers sometimes flair on calls, I was a good cop and I wouldn’t want one. Yes, I have said things that would probably have gotten me in trouble had they been recorded. You get tired of fighting all sides; I can see why they have a hard time getting good cops anymore. It will be like the reason we can’t get a good President; anyone that would be good at the job doesn’t want it.1 point

And good for her. Let her carry what SHE is comfortable with. She may want something different later, maybe not, but the important thing she recognizes the need and wants to carry. A .22 is fine and certainly a good place to start.1 point

No reason for a business today to have a web server crash on black Friday or cyber Monday... IT team needs to be taken out back and shot ;) everything should be setup so they can spin up more front end VMs as load requires (even better if it's fully automated).1 point

Au contraire: If a multimeter shows infinite resistance, the element is bad (open circuit). It has burned through and is no longer heating. If both elements are heating, I suspect the dip tube. It's a plastic tube that delivers cold inlet water to the bottom of the heater. If broken, the cold water gets delivered to the top of the heater and straight to your shower. I don't know if you can get a replacement tube unless direct from the manufacturer. On an old heater, I don't know that I'd bother.1 point

Emily Kenny was in tears about it on TTD, very touching really. Though it may have been mostly over losing the gig and having to sell her condo and everything (he said crassly). ;) Even Norman says he was crying on set that day. - OS1 point

A work of art doesn't have to cost a lot of money. I used to sell and install tables. Many of mine were from $1200-2000 and really decent tables. 1" slate is a must. Install is just as important as the table itself. We used paraffin wax on the joints of the 3 piece slate so you never new the joint was there. Me and one of the other guys that in he business shot some serious pool and were very picky with our tables and installs.1 point

I would almost put a lima bean buster sign on my door, wouldn't eat them as a kid and will not eat them now. I'll finish a bowl of beef stew and if there's lima beans in it they will be in a small pile in my empty bowl. There was a can in the pantry for 2 years, I didn't buy rhem but I finally gave them away to a can food drive. If an asteroid hit the earth and there was wide spread famin, 50 years later there would be explorers come into my house and find a skeleton on my bed and a can of lima beans in my pantry. :) 1 point

Evidently you just can't make some people happy. It was a crap shoot and everyone knew it. Crying about it is just silly. What happened online is no different than what happens at any retailer who offers that good of a deal whether online or in person. At least you got to stay in your underwear fighting the crowd at the cyber door, instead of getting trampled in the cold ;-)1 point

I hoped for a fair chance and I did not get it. The website was down for over an hour and I never had a chance to find the item (until I came back 2 hours later) much less add it to my cart and attempt to check out. If the website had been functional but the item sold out before I was able to checkout that would be a different situation. Really I am glad I did not get a chance to check out, with the website constantly crashing failed checkout attempts would have been even more infuriating.1 point

The only thing thats ever given me pause was Balut eggs (google it). And I still ate half a dozen for breakfast a few times. Other than that I have a good appetite and strong stomach. Ive eaten live baby octopus, squirrel brains, possums, coon, fried grasshopper, snake, rocky mountain oysters, goat, horse, etc.1 point

Why be an asshole to a complete stranger? Maybe just try saying, "No sir, it's a 9mm" and be done with it. Or try concealing... but I mean, you're carrying a gun roughly the size of a framing hammer so it might be harder to do that. :D1 point

Coon or hog hunter maybe? I've only seen a few people OCing in TN, and all were dressed pretty normally. No shorts, beaters, or tacti-cools. I did see one driving a school bus (saw him walk from a gas station to the bus) the other day, which I thought was interesting. He was wearing a t-shirt and jeans and had a Glock in a leather holster. Nothing unusual-looking at all otherwise.1 point
