  2. *Looks around leans in and whispers* Because someone way over there needs to be set on fire! In all seriousness, if I could get my hands on a real deal RPG ammo or 40mm HEDP rounds, you bet your ass I’d have them. Why? Why not!

  4. Thomas Binger learned nothing from the Rust/Alec Baldwin fiasco ("unloaded" gun with human finger on the trigger can go bang & kill people.) Surprised the judge didn't put a stop to this behavior right away.

  7. I'm thinking a hung jury. No way this kid could ever get a fair trial because MSM and the liberal internet already convicted him within hours of the shooting. But hopefully there are at least a couple of unbiased, honest people on that jury.

  8. When they make one that can go 600 miles on a charge, run 80 MPH and recharges in an hour, maybe I'll consider it. Nah, not really.

  9. The new flat trigger S&W is using is amazing. A buddy of mine wanted me to try out a few guns with him, he had his heart set on a Shield Plus and didn't know if he wanted the PC version or the plain one. They have that new flat trigger. It was amazing. I liked it so much that I am going with a flat trigger in the custom Glock/Dagger I am building.

  11. Agree, actually. there is little no anonymity anywhere. But, I can't see getting too paranoid over this issue. Personally, I'm not going to hide under the bed for something that may or may not happen. JMHO

  13. Sitting here going thru the ton of daily email crap I get every day, and saw the news on the 10mm M&P. I have to admit it is interesting. Still not sure I want to get into another hard hitting caliber at this stage of my life...blame goes to arthritic hands; but this and the Rock Island 10mm sure do get tempting. However, just about anything tempts me when it comes to firearms. Why couldn't I just win a great bunch of money and just buy them all?

  18. I read one account that said Binger was pointing that rifle "toward" the jury. Too bad the jurors didn't dive for the floor or shout for him not to point the rifle that way.

  19. Even back when Armslist was useful, I found the classifieds here to be better. Members here are more responsive to posts and messages, and you can select deals that are within driving distance. Armslist used to be full of ads from sellers who'd respond in a week or so and say "Sorry, I forgot this ad was on here" or "I sold this last week and forgot to take down the ad." Traffic to TGO is more consistent and, well, there just tends to be a higher class of people here. Plus the moderators here will thump the occasional moron who shows up. Cheers, Whisper

  24. I ordered a new Ford Maverick truck a couple of months ago. It is in transit and should be here next week. I could have ordered it in a hybrid that gets 42 MPG. I paid $1,100.00 extra to get it with a standard gasoline engine instead of the hybrid. I expect that one day electric automobiles will be the norm but at 70 years of age, I doubt that I will be here to see that day. I think electric cars are still very much in the experimental stage and I will let someone else do the experimenting.

  25. If I was in the market for a new car, I'd look hard at electric. Plug in each day to keep it topped up, or once a week (if that) if you have a short commute or rarely drive like me now that I work from home full time. Never needing to stop for gas again on the local around town stuff would be nice. It would be a little annoying on longer trips.Take a Model 3 extended range for an example car. Assume I start out fully charged, that's going to give me ~350 miles. Then I need to find a supercharger to get 80% (280 miles) and that will take about 30 minutes to charge. It would take another 30m to get to 100%, so I'd take the 80% and move on. I recently did a trip to Tampa of about 800 miles each way. I'd have to make two stops to charge up to 80%, costing me an hour and I'd arrive close to empty again, needing another supercharger, or at least a regular charger near my hotel for overnight duty. Compared to ~15 minutes for three stops to fill up my Wrangler, or ~10 minutes for two stops to fill up a car with way better gas mileage like . . . well, about anything except a truck. But to be fair, road trips like that are not super frequent for me, and the convenience of an EV for daily use may be worth the hour or two it's going to cost me in a day's driving on those occasional road trips. It's not just the no-gas thing that would be nice. Think no more oil changes, transmission fluid changes, or coolant flushes, plus fewer brake jobs. No more leaking oil seals, spark plug changes, or any of dozens of other things that can go bad with an ICE engine, transmission, exhaust system, fuel system, or emissions control systems. The only maintenance items on a Model 3 are tire rotation and cabin air filter. They also suggest lubing the brake caliper pistons and testing the brake fluid, but we all know the caliper parts get lubed when pads get changed and fluid gets changed once a decade, if that. I know an electric motor can go bad, and battery packs over time lose their ability to hold as much juice, but overall it's going to be less hassle and more reliable. If not yet, then very soon. I'm more interested in the self-driving side of things than the EV. I LOOOOVE to drive, but commuting and mind-numbing Interstate road trips are not "driving". They ARE the perfect setting for letting the car take over. It doesn't have to be perfect, just better than humans. And it's pretty dang close to outperforming hairless apes applying makeup, eating a McBurger, drinking a $tarbuck$, and checking FaceTwit while attempting to operate a motor vehicle. I know all the legal liability stuff still needs to get sorted, but I for one welcome our chauffeur overlords. . . just not on The Dragon

  27. The " electric " thing is just another approach to picking the consumer's pocket by lying about the environment. Lotsa " children of lower estate " believe that electric vehicles are cleaner. They ain't, unless the energy is produced from nuclear plants. The electric vehicle will not be a success until the battery charging, performance, n driving range problem is solved. Watch the electric heavy truck business. If it works, then other electric vehicles will be viable. I'm guessin that I'll be takin my rest by the time they are a viable contender to gas n diesel machines. I'm now in my 75 th winter. Dont trade your gas/diesel machine just yet. By the way, I spent 38 years in the electric utility business. lectric leroy.

  35. Just left Crossroads Firearms on Broadway, in Knoxville. They have a lot of CCI .22LR on their shelves, along with other brands. They also had .17HMR, .22 mag, .32acp, 9mm and .40. But what caught my eye was Hornady Critical Defense in .327 Fed. at $29 a box. Not something I've seen in a while. Also saw, for you TOK fans, surplus 7.62x25, but it was expensive. 70 round boxes for $64 (I think it was). They are also fully stocked in handguns, rifles and shotguns, at good prices.

  37. I hear ya. I originally bought a .45 full-size and a compact 9mm. The .45 had the worst trigger that I've ever had. I learned from that one not to trust a salesman who shows you the display model and pulls another off the shelf to sell to you. I check the trigger first. The 9mm kept ejecting the magazine on its own. Apparently, it was a design flaw in the weapon as Smith sent me a new magazine release and it still kept ejecting the magazine while resting in the holster. I do like the 10mm. I have a Glock 20 that I like to shoot although all Glocks seem to irritate the side of my trigger finger.

  39. If you looked at my social media you'd find I had a pro 2ndA stance and political leanings that most would assume align with that. Although some of my fakebook friends are a bit over the top politically and post off color humor I try my best to keep it clean and not hateful despite my desire to join in full steam. No pics posing with my rifles, No memes promoting violent solutions to the mess we are in today. Despite that I'd say that turd of a prosecutor would easily use some of my posts against me if I was on trial for SD. And I'm an older dude with not a lifetime of posting. Lord help those who began posting crap in their stupid teen years!

  40. I use the manual that manufactures the bullet, ie: Hornady bullet, Hornady manual. Did a bit of research a while back, just out of curiosity ( too much time on my hands? ). What I found was, using the same type/ weight, etc, bullet, different manuals show vast differences in powder charges. I don't like to push my luck.

  41. Years ago I had a guy threatening me on a form. He thought he was safe, but he used the same screen name everywhere. With in 2 hours I had his name, address, work location, wife and kids names, what school the kids attended, and pictures. I took it a bit far through. He started off as the problem, but I sent him a care package to his work with a note. That made me an ass. At that point in my life I felt like I had to attack every threat. We decided it would be best to drop the whole thing.

  42. 125gr loads are ok. It's the lighter, 110gr loads that should be avoided. The 125gr load is the #1 single-shot-stop of all the handgun load & calibers, BTW.

  48. The last 2 years during hunting season I've passed up a lot of nice young bucks looking for a really big mature one. But after being told I have stage 3 kidney disease I decided to enjoy this years deer season. I told myself I was going to just go hunt and enjoy life and not worry about anything while in the woods. So today I did just that and harvested this beautiful wide 6 pointer with my CVA Muzzleloader pistol. Hunting isn't always about who can kill the biggest deer. Enjoy the hunt because you never know what life can deal you. P.S the bibs are from my fatter days .
