1.   The LEO who is truly a professional and is genuinely trying to protect the rights of law-abiding citizens knows he has a hard job, but he doesn't use that as an excuse to violate those citizens' rights, and we shouldn't accept it as an excuse either.

 2. I still like the comparison of Chicago to Houston: http://gunfreezone.net/wordpress/index.php/2013/03/06/a-tale-of-two-cities-chicago-vs-houston/

 3. As a general rule in my book... everything is the governments fault ;)  It has the added benefit of normally being right ;)   Take a $400 a week drug habit and turn it into a $4 a week drug habit and you're talking a lot fewer crimes to feed their habit though.   Bad people will do bad things, nothing we can do will ever changes that...  we lock up those bad people and keep them separate from the rest of us...   But, how many people in your career did you arrest who were trying to steal to feed their smoking or drinking habit?  How much of our property crime is really related to cost of tobacco and alcohol?  I'd estimate it to be a very small fraction of said crime.  More importantly, when was the last time you saw Marlboro men do a drive by on Joe Camel's men over a street corner?   Maybe we trade a 10-15% increase in violent crime due to some more folks becoming addicted to drugs...  but in return we drastically reduce violent crime by moving the sale of drugs from the streets to stores, along with reducing petty and property crimes by drastically reducing the price of the product...  drastically reduce law enforcement costs, K9 units, asset seizures, questionable searches, no knock raids, shooting of family pets... etc.     It's not some utopia, those don't exist, but it's clear to any rational person that the war on drugs is much worse at this point, than the drugs themselves.

 4. I agree completely..  any officer who pulls their firearm out and points it at a citizen without a real and specific threat of serious bodily injury or death should be fired from the force, and be facing aggravated assault charges...   Just like you or I would if we did the same.

 5. This is first try. Shot as the rules say. This is shot from the holster. The time is 1.88s first shot, 2.30s second, reload and then 4.53s third and 4.95s last shot.

 6.   So basically you are advocating a LEO threatening deadly force against a citizen who is committing no crime and had made no threatening actions, right?

 7. "An officer may not stop an individual and “demand[] identification without any specificbasis for believing he is involved in criminal activity.”    http://www.tn.gov/attorneygeneral/op/2004/op/op148.pdf   This does not prevent the officer from requesting.  If you read the whole PDF it should fairly well answer your question.

 10. It looks comfortable enough, but I'm like you on the shaky part. I do not want it to wobble when I'm up in the air. I'd rather have straps top and bottom even if it's more work at the beginning of the year and less comfortable.

 11. I've got a little over half my money put away, will have payment to you by the end of the month. I stopped in at SMKW yesterday.... I really want a Runt, Sprint, or Half-Breed next! I don't know why I like the half-breed so much... it's just beautiful!

 12. What kind of ammo are you using when it happens? Never seen it myself, but I understand that a round with a high primer can cause that problem. Also, did you try pulling the trigger on empty chambers before you cleaned it? If there was heavy buildup on the cylinder face (where the cylinder meets the forcing cone), that might also explain your problem - and would explain why your problem did not continue after a good cleaning. The whole dirty cylinder face causing a revolver not to function generally only arises where a wheel gun's cylinder gap is really tight. Might be worth measuring yours to see if it's within manufacturer's specs. ETA - On some makes of revolvers, the ejection rod screws into its place in the center of the cylinder. Over time, recoil can gradually cause the rod to unscrew itself just enough to push its tip against the frame of the gun. When that happens, it results in the cylinder refusing to spin. The ammo you use, the cylinder gap, and the ejector rod are the three things I'd check before sending it back.

Not sure when I'll get up that way, do you think your distributor sells it to any gun shops or other stores in the Murfreesboro area? Thanks again. I appreciate your generosity.
A few local places are carrying it but I'm not sure about Murfreesboro. You can buy it online from numerous places that ship to you, just Google "EEZOX" and you will see several links. You can also find it on eBay most of the time. I recommend you get a 1 ounce needle oiler bottle for actual use, and a 4 ounce or 1 quart can to refill the oiler. I will be in Murfreesboro on Tuesday so just pm me if you want to meet up. If you like it I can sell you a refill container cheaper because of my bulk purchasing.

 18. Well, you take the case from the press, hold it in your left hand under the spout of the powder measure, with your right hand operate the handle of the powder measure (I leave mine in the down position) from down to top and back down to bottom. If you have the powder measure set right it will drop the powder into the case and not spill any. I never did like the powder through dies, seem powder stuck to them. You do have a scale? Just make sure the measure is set for the right charge.

 19.   Also CTAS. Goes way back to UT being able to influence money flow back to the UT system county by county and city by city, under the guise of "helping" them govern. They used to have CGT (Center for Government Training) where they'd go into cities and counties and conduct workshops after elections. They finally got so few invites to do that they closed it down, but somehow CTAS and MTAS keeps cranking.   Same thing as having an Ag agent in each county, though that I guess still has more of an actual beneficial nature.   - OS

 21. I think we all understand that the LGS has to sell big ticket items to pay the overhead. But, having been in the retail market before (local rental stores), I understand that some items are carried for the convenience of your customers. In fact some items may loose you money, but need to be offered for the customer's one stop shopping. I used to loose money every time I rented a chain saw...and lots of times when I rented a Ditch Witch (rocks and Ditch Witch will always be enemies!), but my customers wanted and needed the, so I carried them. Pleasing the customer keeps them coming back. Our rental store was in the "black" in 14 months...something unheard of for a new start up commercial business at the time.   So, if you're a gun shop, please stock the scope mount screw assortment. Like I said, they're only about $55 for an assortment of 150 screws. Your customers will appreciate it. If you charge a buck each for them, you've made money... just saying.

 22. I don't buy into the "He's trying to destroy the country before he leaves" theory. To me Obama is just another in a long line of crappy politicians that the people of this country has chosen to lead us' Like many others here, I have served and fought for this country. I have also seen the reductions in force before. As someone stated, it makes no sense to have a large peace time military. I also don't worry about anyone invading us. Our biggest threats from China and Russia are economic. Lastly, I believe that our military is too large and could stand to continue becoming smaller, lighter and more lethal. A lot of us are older and can't fathom a military without thousands of tanks and aircraft on the battlefield. Thanks to modern technology those days are almost over. In the future when we have to put boots on the ground, they will still be the best trained and prepared fighting force that the world had ever known.

 23. Are those the scenarios? I know the Russians have subs off our coast; they always have had. We do the same to them. What do you think those subs will do? The Islamic centers will be dealt with locally if they become a problem. And unless posse comitatus is repealed (and it will be some day) the border is not a military issue now. I’m not making any arguments for cutting military spending; I just don’t understand how anyone would think that would lead to an invasion of our country.

 26. I don't know how people pocket carry a Shield.  I love my Shield 9mm, it shoots great, and I can carry it in a 3speed holster fine... but even on my overly large pants, I can barely stuff it in my pocket, and its hard to remove, and its pretty visible its a gun in the pocket.  The only thing I carry in my pocket is a LCP, which pretty much vanishes.

 30. My first 10MM was a Cold Double Eagle and I've owned a few 1911s in 10MM since then.   I love 1911s and I love 10MM Auto as a cartridge but my experience with the combination is that the 1911 is just not well suited for the 10MM; this seems to be especially true with Colt's offerings (my Dan Wesson is an exception). Even considering some very expensive 1911s in 10MM, the best 10MM handgun I've owned for overall shooting is my G20.

 31. Thanks for taking the time to respond in more detail (even though I hate the news).  After reading his email I can understand the business reasons for closing including the shift in how  most of us buy our stuff, the neighborhood the facility is in and I've wondered for some time if they would move and build a new, state-of-the art training facility as their current building is very much showing its age but I never thought they would close down.   There are many places to train but few trainers of the qualifications of Tom Givens or most of his trainers for that matter.  I've shifted my training $$$ between Tactical Response and Rangemaster (and they seem to have a symbiotic relationship anyway) so I've managed to take several classes at RM including Massad Ayoob's MAG20 course. Even thought I don't get there often I feel like I'm losing an old friend (which seems to be a reoccurring theme as I get older).  :sadwave:

I'll be at the Suraez Training event that Randy is putting on today, so I just wanted to take a few minutes and say Thanks to all for an excellent match yesterday.   Of note John Suter, Daniel, all the SO's and "Range Mom's" (strange conceptual title imho) and all those involved behind the scene. Also thanks to the sponsors for the prize table. Awesome to see a young lady  junior...via her father...win a handgun in the drawing.   And also a Thanks to Rickey for a fast and darn nifty popup target he let the match use. Good job, and of course Congrats Rickey.   Until next year. :hat:     edit...spelling...

 33.   12 7 gal Aquatainers divided between two bathrooms. Though not recommended, stacked two high. Plus some 2 liter pop bottles full here and there. Anybody with any room at all could store 3 months worth pretty easily for one person.  Frugal use of a gallon per day is enough for hydration plus frugal cooking/cleaning/sponge batch.   - OS

 36. It is about money. The war is winding down. Each Army  division is loosing one Brigade Combat Team. The loss will be replace by a NG BCT that will become attached to that division for practical purposes. The war is winding down. A large standing Military cost money. The Reserves are cheaper.. This has happened after every war.   Majority of the worlds militaries or defense forces are small with a large reserve if needed.

 37. What do these numbers mean? How many Captains and Majors are there now? I have to assume they aren’t cutting these military members, so am I safe in assuming this is attrition of the positions? I truly believe Obama is doing everything in his power to hurt this country before he leaves office, but is that what is going on or are these reductions due to technology or other factors? Does Congress vote on these cuts? These are serious questions, sorry, I just don’t buy into the “Obama is cutting those that won’t turn on Americans”; that can’t even be a part of a serious discussion... in my opinion.

As much as I love the Old Muscle, you can't deny that today's performance cars are leaps and bounds ahead of that great era of the 60s and early 70s.   Example - - - The new 2015 Mustang GT's 5.0-liter (302 c.i.) engine produces 435hp and 400 lb-ft of torque while getting a combined 20+mpg.   AND you don't have to adjust any solid lifters, clean & re-gap the plugs, or set the points before every weekend!

 41. Remember, MTAS sent out a preemptive strike to every City and Municipality in the State outlining the steps and showing them how to "Opt out", instructing them that there was no need to have a public hearing, providing the legal paperwork to do so, and instructing each recipient to do so. (Your tax dollars at work)!).   Freshman Representative Tillman Goins (great young former Marine who really wants to do the right thing) put forward legislation that would truly remove local municipalities ability to occupy the field with respect to permit carry in parks, Beth Harwell, Ron Ramsey, Charles Sargent, Andy Holt et al. squashed the attempt. They are breaking him to the fist, left his bill shredded and dead, teach him to think the Constitution actually means a damn thing to the oligarchy.

 42.   From that AG opinion... The person approached, however, need not answer any question put to him; indeed, he may decline to listen to the questions at all and may go on his way. He may not be detained even momentarily without reasonable, objective grounds for doing so; and his refusal to listen or answer does not, without more, furnish those grounds.     It takes enough citizens standing up for their rights to keep them.  If the police are giving rides and booking people for refusing to show ID, that needs to be challenged.  My 4th Amendment rights matter to me just as much as my 2nd Amendment rights or any other rights do.  I just wish more people would fell the same.

 43. I've rented vehicles for work when the company pays and for pleasure on my own dime.  Here are my quick thoughts... I'd imagine a van would be cheaper to rent than an SUV if you aren't out for style points Be ready for sticker shock regardless, holidays are peak times for rentals with all the travel Check now if your personal vehicle insurance covers rentals; insurance can be a rip off from a rental company Note any scratch, dent, chip or imperfection you find on the checkout inspection- that goes double for the interior- as a safety precaution Do the math if they offer a pre-pay for fuel option; it seems convenient, but it's not always a great deal Don't bother paying for a GPS in the rental if your smartphone has a good map & directions app
