2.   Yeah...I do.   Most of my last post was rhetorical. I don't have kids and I'm not a big fan of the beach, but I'm not so self-centered that I can't see that the law impacts other people besides me. Apparently you don't suffer from my affliction. Thanks for proving my point.   The USPS parking lot allowance was made by a federal judge in Colorado last summer. It applies only to Colorado for now. If it gets appealed to the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, and if they uphold it, then it would apply to the region governed by the 10 circuit: Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, and Oklahoma. It's now case law that a judge in another state will consider, but it's far from a settled issue. IANAL, but that's how I understand the federal court system to work. The Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs passed a measure this February to change the statute to exclude parking lots, but AFAIK, it hasn't gone beyond that yet. Maybe Congress will resolve it before we get case law from the TN District Court or the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals..

 5. Check out Georgia arms. They have some fairly good prices on 38 special and 357 ammo. I am shooting there 38 spl in 125 & 158 gr lead round nose and have had zero problems.

 10. jh225, what about when I have to drive from Jackson to Clarksville for work.  I have to leave at 2:30 A.M. for the schedule I am required to keep, and I return to my home on average at 11:00 P.M. I am driving half way across the State (and back), from the 3rd most dangerous small municipality in the Nation to a location that is posted.  To work the 8-10 hour day, I have to leave my vehicle parked off site and ride in with some of my on site employees, leaving my personal vehicle parked at their house, as I can not even have a firearm in my vehicle on their parking lot (thanks Ramsey). By your reasoning, I should simply quit my job I guess, giving up 20+ years in seniority and at my advanced age, probably having no chance at picking up other employment because of my age and my wife's serious health problems. I think I will keep my own council, as yours seems less than prudent for my needs, and I agree with TMF, you seem less than concerned with your fellow Citizen's well being.

 11.
Sad? No, sensible. What is the point of carrying a weapon in the car with you when you are just going to leave it there when you get out of the car? You know the odds of being carjacked? Traffic accident in which someone pulls a gun? Again HUGE odds against that. Or are you going to play superman and stop a mugging that you see? Oh wait, you can't leave the car with the gun. Or hows about when you are standing in line at the 7-11 and the guy that just walked in puts a gun to your head. Is that gun you left in the car going to help you then? Nope, didn't think so. Either get the HCP and carry all the time or don't get it and be don't carry. Bringing the 2A rights into the argument for or against is pointless. If the lawmakers that are in place wanted to act according to the Constitution, we would already have no permit needed carry. Since that ain't gonna happen, go and get a HCP and stop leaving the damn weapon in the car where it is absolutely useless to you unless the big bad man comes to your window demanding the car which has less odds than hitting the lottery or being struck by lightning.
Who cares? It's none of your business when and where a person carries or if they leave a firearm in their car. Certainly none of the government's business that there would be a law restricting such. I have no issue with you having an opinion on someone storing a firearm in their automobile, but when you want to use the force of the LAW to prevent people from making a choice, you are no different than the fascists who seek to control every aspect of our lives; an enemy to the concept of liberty. 16. How come you do not have warranty still on that car? at 64K the car should be still under warranty ?  Or do they not cover stuff like that?  Mine is for 100K but also not sure if it covers stuff like that.I think someoen said all lubed and oiled parts or something like that. I think its BS you had to pay that amount of money for  that work on a car that is hardly broke in on miles.. And Reeder is the same way. .they charge an arm and a leg for work.. I think they fudge a lot on hours they charge and on parts... Cant trust anyone any more   and its " Deutsch " :)

 17. There don't seem to be many junk rounds available for the 38. Even the aluminum cases blazer shoots straight. Buy whatever is cheap and on hand for target shooting, note that cheap is going to be a relative term with either 38 or 357. As to a load for home defense, there aren't any that I know of that will be less than lethal with just drywall getting in its way. Shot placement is important. Get used to shooting and developed a game plan with your family to try and minimize the chances that someone will be in the line of fire as much as possible.

 20. Sounds like a great choice for a first handgun. As others have said, 38 specials make for fun, inexpensive target plinking, while full power 357 rounds really feel powerful when you touch one off.

 21.   Right on!  That is what I heard from my Senator as well.  I don't think Haslam would outright veto a pro-2A bill of this sort considering election times are nearing.  Not to mention he signed the original "guns in trunks bill" under a LOT more heat from big business than this has received (thankfully).

 22. Don't own a GP, but have a pair of SPs, I think you made a great choice!   I like the dude that says to himself, "first gun, it's got a be .357" since that was how I did it...with a Colt King Cobra...it was love at first sight.   Remember, you can shoot .38 special which will be more fun and economical than a day at the range blazing away with .357   Of course, blazing away with .357 is pretty awesome...

 23. I have a few and love them. They make me look like I know how to shoot. To me running 38's through them is like shooting a 22 mag. 357 mag is like a 45acp. Get a few speed loaders and shoot the hell out of it. If you live to be a 150 you may wear it out. Enjoy ;)

 26. According to the TN Legislature web site, the last action on the bill was the H. Speaker signed it and it has not been transmitted to Halem yet.  The 10 day period doesn't begin until it is transmitted to him.  http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/Default.aspx?BillNumber=SB1774   If Haslem vetos the bill while the legislature is adjourned, it is my understanding the legislature would have to come back for a special session to override.  If they do not come back in session to override, the bill would be dead.    I did send an email to the bill sponsor, Sen. Mike Bell and he replied that he does not believe Haslem will veto the bill.  (Wouldn't hold my breath, but he does think Haslem will sign it or just let it become law without his signature on it.)  I am not in Mike Bell's district, but he did take the time to respond to my email.

I plan on attending tactical carbine and engagement courses such as those offered through Gunsite, Tactical Response, Suarez, etc. and wanted to get input on this gear and see if it was meant more for Paintball or if it could actually take some abuse as I also want to employ it into my bug out gear.

 37.   Correct as to how the Federal legal system works in the aspect of case law.  If it were to be precedent set by the 10th Court of Appeals, the precedent would still not be followed as law in TN as we are not in the same district - the judge/prosecutor would treat it as a case of first impression.  They could use the ruling in Colorado in their prosecution/defense, but it could only be relied on as a secondary source and not necessarily cited and used the same as statutory law would be used in said case.  Long story short, if a similar case would happen in TN, you can't use the simple defense that a CO Fed. Judge ruled that guns were allowed in the USPS parking lot, you would have to force a case of first impression onto the federal judge almost as if the CO ruling didn't exist.     Don't know how some can enforce the law without a basic knowledge of the legal system.

 42. So, we are ok with someone with no child handling experience produce a child?  That person will get themselves (or worse someone else) hurt/ aborted.  I agree that parenting rights shouldn't be limited but I also think people need to prove they have adequate knowledge to PRODUCE a child. Just having the plumbing doesn't help anybody.  Come up with a way that keeps our freedoms free, but requires sufficient training to produce a child and then you have my vote.  You have to keep the irresponsible and uneducated from just strapping on a woody and feeling empowered and then trying to use.

 43.     I haven't bellied up to a bar and ordered a drink anywhere in a long time.  I've had a few growlers filled, but haven't ordered a drink in ages.  I've never understood why people pay $10 (or more!) for a couple beers in a noisy bar when you can get a whole 6-pack for that.

 48. 1st I need to thank everyone for there ideas last year. here is my final fix for a shooting table for me, I hope! its look junky but it is light weight and easy for my wife to break down and carry. despite its looks it is solid and the swivel bipod with the level on the scope takes care of leveling issues. plus it fits in the van without a trailer.

 49. Can't say I'm a big fan of the Knox County Sheriff's Dept. Had a camper stolen, had the guy on video taking it, he knew where cameras were and the way to avoid most (so he had connections to the storage lot) and vwe had to practically beg them to come get the video, which they likely just threw away. When I asked why they weren't interested, their response was basically "you have a police report to give your insurance company, so what's the big deal". I understand they have lots of things to do, but at least you should ACT like you care. If I ever decide to take up a life of crime, it'd be in Knox county.
