  1. This one should be here this week. Started out as a 1962 S&W then ended up at Clark Customs in 1976 to be turned into a PPC competition gun. This one is in 38spl.

A three-judge panel for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit ruled Tuesday that the federal ban against 18-20-year-olds buying handguns is unconstitutional. https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2021/07/13/federal-appeals-court-handgun-purchase-ban-for-18-20-year-olds-unconstitutional/

  3. I have a new unfired Glock 19 for sale. It comes with the backstraps and three magazines. I will fill magazines with hollow points for the buyer. I am near the Memphis area. I am asking 500 dollars firm.

  4. So if you wouldn't bring a rifle into the hotel then you'd leave it in the vehicle unattended in the parking lot? It's coming into the hotel with me (and everything else I don't want stolen) and getting taken with me when I leave the room. I don't even like leaving my clothes in a hotel room unattended.... Now the biggest problem here is that it was in Chicago with their draconian gun laws. If this were Jackson MS, or Memphis Tn, or Savannah GA, or Fort Walton FL, or Harrisburg PA, or Shepherdsville KY, or Little Rock AR or Prescott AZ, or Ann Arbor MI, or any number of other cities I have traveled to either taking or teaching classes or just simply vacationing (with a long gun and loaded mags each time) then this would not be an issue. But the fact that it was A in Illinois and B in Chicago is where this becomes a problem and C if you are going to have to leave it in the room you are going to need to put the do not disturb sign up and hide it somewhere like behind the fridge or somewhere that the casual observer does not see without having to put forth some effort.

  5. Thanks for everyone's input! After work, I ran to the grocery store for things to make BLTs for dinner. On the way I stopped at my LGS and checked out their selection. I found a like new Mossberg Maverick with a FDE colored stock set and the 7 shot extended tube magazine for $200. It's in lay-a-way for the next couple of weeks, then it will come out. I swear I don't think it's been fired. No scratches on it or anything! They said an ex-employee came in and traded it in. He'd had it at a cabin and never used it. It does have the bead front sight, and not a rifle blade, but I've shot them before and I'm comfortable with it. I think it's a bargain! Think I will still look at picking up one of those Benelli clones in the future though.

  6. I don’t feel that this is a dead horse issue. It’s getting more and more alarming. The DNC now wants to censor your personal text messages if they are deemed to contain misinformation about covid. Who determines what is or isn’t misinformation? ”Biden allied groups, including the Democratic National Committee, are also planning to engage fact-checkers more aggressively and work with SMS carriers to dispel misinformation about vaccines that is sent over social media and text messages.” https://www.politico.com/news/2021/07/12/biden-covid-vaccination-campaign-499278

  7. The six-shot revolver is enough for probably 97% of the scenarios any of us will encounter while out and about in our everyday lives. Until the data that has validated this for a ridiculously long time shows otherwise, I wouldn't get too over analytical on conjecture. If we truly need more, the spidey sense should be tingling before the real life range is hot and an egress is the far better option. Seeing some BLM/Antifa mobs on TV shouldn't fear drive everyday decision making if you're otherwise practicing good situational awareness.

  12. Here is an article about NYPD and their shooting prowess.... https://citylimits.org/2016/11/29/nypd-gets-pressure-from-the-right-on-guns/ Pay attention to this passage.... According to the NYPD’s annual firearms discharge report, individual officers fired fewer than 15 rounds in 89 percent of the combat incidents in which the NYPD was involved last year. Sixty-five percent of officers involved in what the PD calls “adversarial” shootings in 2015 fired five or fewer bullets. What that just said is that in 35% of the incidents they fired more than 5 and in 11% they fired 15 or MORE .

  13. Academy Sports has been having the Mossberg 88 Security lately for $199. That is the best buy in a defense shotgun that I have seen. I have a Mossberg 590 and a Remington 870 both but bought a Maverick anyway at that price.

  14. There are many people in this country that carry guns anywhere they want everyday and are not restricted at all by what the gun laws are. They probably number in the millions. They also commit armed robbery, murder, rape, sell drugs, rob banks, burglarize homes, jack cars and trucks, commit home invasions and such like. They will continue to carry guns anywhere they want everyday and will not be restricted at all by what the gun laws are. They probably number in the millions.

  15. As I stated in the other thread, I had several Suzuki Intruder 1400's, which are the chopper style, and one Boulvard 1500, all good bikes. Moved up to a HD Road King, did some engine mods to it before I even rode it and was tickled to death with it and it's performance/ride. The RK is a step below the full blown touring bikes with just hard saddle bags, no touring trunk or full fairing. Weight was around 800# +/-. The HD handled better at slow parking lot speeds than the Suzuki's did, and rode better overall. I had a 2000 MY, with air adjustable shocks on the rear which they stopped offering soon after I got mine. Engine mods made the bike run like a scalded dog, and could cruise the roads in E TN with "authority".

  17. DUMB ASS, granted. But Chicago criminalizes that, and that is wrong. And the cost to defend being a DUMB ASS is immense. And that is wrong. Why is sacrosanct Chicago not subject to all of the normally recognized laws of our country that protect our citizens, including the Bill of Rights?

  18. I have an opportunity to purchase a Tungsten Grey Canik TP9SFX 9mm and am trying to determine what's a reasonable offer or trade - just don't know much about their value other than internet search. Saw one in use at USPSA match and have wanted one since. It has the Vortex Red Dot, rear sight, and all adapter plates. Comes in the factory box with all paperwork and accessories. Also comes with a Freedom trigger, 4 - 20 round factory mags, canted competition holster, extra firing pins, spare threaded barrel, and Springco Performance recoil kit. Looks like it has not been shot much, very clean, tight lockup, seems tight. Said it has around 600+ rounds through it. He went to one match and has not been back, wasn't his thing. Took a pic of it and told him I'd let him know this week. Thought's opinions.

  21. From someone who carries a suppressed AR 10 through a lobby of a motel 5 or 6 times a year, this seems alien to me. To be honest, I usually only have 250-300 rounds on me. The funniest moment was when I was covered head to toe with blood at a Denny's with a white buddy of mine at 3:00 am. We were talking to a black couple for an hour about everything. Great people and great waitress. Not one person batted an eye or asked what the hell was going on. GOD BLESS TEXAS.

  27. Could you find an old 870 police trade in? That's what I did. It was a little beat up on the outside, and you could tell it had been in the sun a lot but it functions perfectly. I got mine at Craig's on Chapman Hwy. I think I paid $350 though.

  28. A little update for you guys. Still a little ways off on the date but its closing fast. We still have the Elk Hunt Donated and looks like we will be selling chances for $50 apiece with a max of 250 tickets. It can be three for the price of 2 or may can convert to 2 for the price of 1 hunter. The guide is fairly flexible. We also have a East Tennessee (Franklin County I believe) turkey hunt that will be live auctioned. 2 days 2 nights with a 1 bird limit. Will be a good one to be able to take part in and will be guided by our own chapter's chairman. Prices for tickets are on the RMEF website below and includes Early Bird Special prices on silent auction tickets. We will have some wallhanger pictures, RMEF gear and other random hunting gear in the silent auction. We also have sponsorships and/or sponsor tables (Rag Horn is for 4, Big Bull for 8). Working towards an assortment of rifles, shotguns, pistols, muzzleloader, and bows to be available. https://events.rmef.org/shop/musiccity?utm_source=rmef.org&utm_medium=events_page Please let us know if you are planning to attend either through the online ticket portal, through PM on here, or buy contacting Matt Hagen at mahagen@crimson.ua.edu (909) 268-3250 Thank You and God Bless!

  29. I didn't want a big dresser. I went from my Dyna to a Road King. It is still a motorcycle, not a car with two wheels. Mine is an older one, `12FLHP, got a it cheap with like 15k miles on it. I ride the hell out of it and it handles like a bike half it's size. Did my Iron Butt on it last year and didn't need anything other than a windshield.

  32. I can't stand cruisers and their flying C body position so I am probably no help. That is just so brutal on the back. I have stuck with more upright position bikes and sport touring style bikes for the last couple decades. Hips a few inches behind shoulders, feet inline or only a few inches forward of shoulders when viewed from the side. Knee angle greater than 90° if possible. That is about the only way I can really enjoy my time on the bike. It has worked for me with multiple 1100+ mile Ironbutt rides completed. Most of my days are shorter, 200 to 500 miles but I like to break out a 2000+ mile three day weekend every once in a while. Mostly a Honda fan. I am currently on a VFR as my commuter bike but their Touring/Sport Touring options have been limited as of late.

  33. I would agree with the above if you want a Harley. If I was buying a Harley now, it would be a road king most likely unless I was planning to do any real distance travelling, then I would probably go for a Road Glide. I had a 14 street glide special that was a really nice bike. I would look for something from 2009 and up as the touring frame was update that year and has some improvements. I am in the middle of overanalyzing myself, but I am leaning more towards an adventure bike now. I will ride 90% of the time on road, but want the ability to do some light off road if I get a hankering, so lighter is important. I also want to sit fairly straight. The challenge is many of the ADV bikes are tall. I am not short (6'1"), but flat footing some of them is a challenge with a 32" inseam.

  34. Is ammunition becoming available again? I rode past a gunship in Crossville yesterday and their outdoor reader-board was advertising 9mm at $21.00 a box. I didn't stop, so I don't know what brand it was, but I was encouraged to actually see ammo ADVERTISED as available. Now if I could just find some primers.....

  35. I was in RK at Sweetwater this past Saturday, they had 556 ammo, limit of 1 or 2 at $125 for a box of 150. Norma 22lr black box was $7/box, don't remember a limit on the 22lr.

  37. Then there's the guys like me. My truck gets washed when it rains. Once a year or so I take out the floormats and shake the top 2 inches of crap out. I also figure that oil leaks prevent rust, and oil is fairly cheap. My last truck was at 363k when I decided to park it and buy another. Sold it earlier this year, the new owner is happily driving it daily, albeit it's much cleaner than when I owned it. I figure it will quit any day now as a result of all that cleaning ...

  40. I’d start reevaluating that thought process if I were you. If you’re talking about the 3 shot, 3 seconds, 3 yards bit, that’s an often repeated, but wholly incorrect piece of data that is far more myth than fact. The data used to build that stat comes from NYC officer involved shootings when revolvers were the standard issue sidearm. More recent data is that the number is around 8 rounds fired. Still, that doesn’t negate the need to carry a spare magazine to fix a malfunction were one to occur.

  41. Avoid blue cities. Maybe when they lose revenue things will change. If the story is true, the individual needs to learn how to secure his weapons. He’s lucky the cleaning staff didn’t sell the weapons.

  42. Probably the best way to do that is to read the opinions, both majority and concurring, of the DC and Illinois cases (McDonald and Heller)from a few years back. That's probably as close as you'll find of the current thinking on the Court. Another interesting read is the report from the Senate Judiciary committee from 1982, one of the earliest government proclamations that the Second Amendment guaranteed an individual's right to bear arms, as opposed to the generally prevailing view of most courts that it represented only a right of state-sponsored militias ...

  48. Great info. Loving the properties on the Cumberland River too. Gallatin has a few. Torn between river view and boat dock or land for a range. It's likely too much to want both. A friend just moved to Cookeville, starter neighborhood there. Young family. Ours are almost grown, so we're looking toward a lazy retirement home. Boat life and shooting for fun on our own property.
