If you don't believe, it's still a horrific FYI. Happy Easter to all with my prayers you rejoice in the unconditional and un-earned love, mercy, grace and peace of God. Somehow, I see it quite the opposite. I COULD argue (I won't though) that those who pay $200, submit fingerprints, photo and whatever else to the feds, ask permission of their local police chief and wait several months simply to ask permission to own an item that is Constitutionally protected are the ones voluntarily taking it in the arse. Perhaps the people who are putting what is essentially a stock on their pistols (and NOT the pansies writing a letter to some bureaucracy asking for their blessing, BTW) are basically raising a middle finger to an overgrown federal leviathon and saying "eff yoo". I know which ones I think are most likely to end up in a threesome with the two chicks. BTW, I know it was just a joke and I do not intend to offend anyone who owns a registered NFA weapon. (P.S. Was that first paragraph a great run-on sentence, or what?)3 points

I am surprised our anti 2A news stations and politicians aren't capitalizing on stories like this: http://www.wsmv.com/story/28713441/shots-fired-at-officer-in-downtown-nashville2 points

I am a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and have been from my teens. The pain our Lord suffered on that day was extreme and beyond measure. Even before He was crucified....read about scourging. It's a barbaric ritual and is designed to inflict as much pain as possible without killing the individual and makes oriental caning look like something from Mary Poppins.2 points

I've been carrying my 938SAS cocked with the safety on in an IWB holster by FirearmHolster.com for almost 2 years now. I am 100% confident that it will not go off unless I disengage the safety and pull the trigger. It's a great little gun and I don't foresee me ever replacing my EDC with anything else.2 points

Perhaps it's just the fact that crooked departments make it easier for crooked officers to thrive. The Chief Law Enforcement Officer at whichever department you want to talk about sets the tempo for what happens beneath them. If that CLEO is an honest, ethical person intent on defending the Constitution then the department will generally follow suit. If they aren't, then it generally won't. Really this is fundamentally no different than any other business with a good or bad boss at the top of the ladder. The problem is that a bad boss in this particular role can really make it miserable on the citizenry.2 points

As a general rule I supported LE for a long time after I quit LE. But over time I quit supporting them as much as I once did and started viewing them differently. Now I only help individual officers, never departments, and only those I have come to know. But even then I do not trust those I know because they will turn if it benefits them. I do not trust the average officer to do what is right any more. Spent enough time in LE to know that most, not all, officers are no longer about protecting their communities but controlling or imparting their will upon others. It seems like the younger they are the worse it is. If I met an officer I mind what I say and what I do often ignoring them if I can because they are always looking. There are some great officers out there that do what is right all the time but all it takes is a chance encounter with one of the bad ones to ruin your life. Even if the officer is 100% in the wrong, and you get cleared of everything, it will cost you 10's of thousands of dollars to do so while the officer is rarely held accountable. I hated to see people who were probably innocent plead guilty to a lesser charge or reduced sentence because they could not afford the cost of being exonerated. I will tell you a story about my last interaction with LE. I had someone do something to my wife and I that was against the law. What they did was put our name, our address, my phone number and pictures of my wife from Facebook. They posted it on Craigslist telling people to come to my house at a specified time and rape my wife. Figuring this was a plan by my brother, who tried to kill us before, I contacted local LE for help. I gave them all the information as well as asked for a patrol to be present at the time specified in the ad in case some crazy decided to show up. They made all kinds of excuses why they could not help. I begged for help and they said they would not until after it happened. I told the sheriff that if anyone came in my house and tried to harm my wife I would kill them. Then the sheriff acted like I was a criminal for making that statement. Well after it was obvious they were not going to help I contacted my attorney who then called the sheriff. The attorney told the sheriff this was a credible threat because my brother had tried to kill us in the past but the sheriff still refused to have a patrol in the area. My attorney then told the sheriff he would sue him if anything happened at the time specified. Well a few days after my attorney threatened to sue the department two officers showed up at my house out of the blue. They asked for me and my wife told them I was sleeping. The officers did not leave and had my wife wake me up from a nap and come to the door so they could talk to me. The reason? They were there because they wanted to know what kind of guns I had in the house. This was nothing more than a fishing trip by the officers, at the direction from the sheriff, to try to find a reason to throw me in jail after my attorney threatened to sue the department. This happened about 4 months ago and that is why I will not trust officers to do what is right, especially my local ones.2 points

It's just them trying to deflect attention. He'll go work someplace else for Govt or some Crony-connected job just outside Govt while the next anti-Second-Amendment BATFE directer takes over. Trust me, they have got plenty of anti-2A'ers ready to replace the last one.2 points

...I used to hang out at the Ruger Forum and met Gary Bunker [Iowegan] a retired gunsmith with an affinity for Ruger revolvers. Gary had published a copyrighted, now-out-print guide to "provide a person with average mechanical skills a means to inspect in perform routine maintenance on Ruger double action revolvers" Being such a person, I wanted to tune up my SP101, which included successful dis and reassembly of the all the trigger parts pieces and springs. The guide also has an advanced section if you or know somebody with the tools. I recently spoke to Gary and have permission to share some of the information in: Iowegan's Gun Guide for Ruger GP-100 and Super Redhawk with supplements for SP101, Security - Six and Redhawk. For general questions and recommended tolerances, post here, for specific / detailed information shoot me a PM.1 point

Ran across an old tungsten penetrator that was primarily used in the 105mm cannon (and shortly with the 120mm) on the M1A1. These were used until they switched from a tungsten core to depleted uranium (more dense) for the combat rounds. To deplete the stockpile, the army started using them as training rounds, but with the added velocity of the 120mm, the range they would travel if someone fired outside of the range markers was astronomical... So they switched to a round that replaced the stabilizing fins on the back with a cone to slow it down and reduce the range dramatically. The cone rounds are easy to come by, but these are getting harder and harder to find as time passes. Every time I pick up something like this it brings back all the memories from being on a tank, having both the best and worst times of my life at the same time. Not sure what will be next on the list, but I'm always on the lookout.1 point

His suffering started in Gethsemane...he drank the cup of Wrath (3rd cup in the Passover seder) and then the Father started to pour out His Wrath (for mankind's sin) on him. That is why he prayed "If it be possible let this cup pass from me, but not my will but Thine be done". Yeshua took upon himself my sin and the summary punishment. He rose from the dead and redeemed me! Blessed be the Lord! To my brothers and sisters at TGO......rejoice and be glad....our Redeemer lives!1 point

He is Risen and he promised his return and on that day justice for all non believers will receive their just rewards. It will be the kingdom of HELL. I have always LOVE and believed in God and Jesus and will always until I take my last breath upon this earth. I can only hope and pray that I am worthy of his mercy and I get to see the Kingdom he has gone to build for me and all Christians. God does answer prayers.1 point

That's the thing, the high point is a boringly reliable blowback design and the torture tests that others have done and filmed I wouldn't even come close to attempting with ANY of my centerfire pistols. I think the blade on mine is closer to 3.25. If there is a 3.75 inch version I want it! You are right, it is a good knife that seems very strong. As I said, I keep it in a zipper pocket that is on the strap of my sling pack as a back up or in case I forget to put my edc in my pocket. For some reason, though (partly because it was a gift and partly because it isn't my 'perfect' edc knife) I don't really want to edc it. There really isn't a lot 'bad' to say about it, I just don't get that, "Yeah, this is THE knife," feeling that some knives have given me in the past. I like going to Bass Pro but the closest one to me is just off the Sevierville/Dollywood exit just about a mile or two from Smoky Mountain Knife Works so if I am up that way looking for knives I usually go to SMKW. Oh, I'll still stop at Bass Pro I just tend to look more at ammo and the like there. The only problem with going to SMKW is that I sometimes get overwhelmed. If you have never been in there, they have everything from fantasy/movie sword and knife repros to mall ninja nonsense right through to awesome knives that are out of my price range and a whole lot of good knives that are in my price range (which keeps me running around trying to narrow it down to one or two that I can actually buy at a time.) You will sometimes stumble across a sale that makes a knife you were sort of considering suddenly irresistible. They have one counter dedicated to a pretty good selection of Rough Rider knives which are very affordable and have a good reputation, especially at their price point. They have a Cold Steel section, a CRKT section and a Benchmade section (I just sort of look at the Benchmade knives and think how nice some of them look before moving on to things that won't hurt my wallet quite as badly.) They also, of course, have entire sections dedicated to Gerber, Kershaw, Case and most of the other, big names. There is a pretty good sized section for Victorinox SAKs, too. I could literally spend hours in SMKW agonizing over which one or two knives to take home with me.1 point

I need a dislike button. 2. Bacon raises high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. HDL, or “good” cholesterol, is one of the most important markers for heart disease. The higher your HDL levels, the better your health — and conversely, the lower your HDL, the higher your chances of developing heart disease.1 point

This is nothing more than another rung in the ladder of confusion that is the ATF. Someone else, who is onboard with Obama's agenda, will be appointed shortly and a slew of new opinions will be announced further limiting our rights. I used to support the ATF as I did any other LE agency but now I no longer view them as a LE agency. The reason is because even though they swore to protect and defend the constitution they continue to attack those rights. If any other agency were to write opinions stating only certain forms of free speech are allowed the liberals would be up in as demanding action but because the ATF is limiting GUN rights the liberals are all for it. I am sure the agents are tired of the differing opinions and constantly changing policies as well.1 point

Read Jones' bio, he was in the Marines as well. As an Infantry officer no less.1 point

I think because ATF didn't have an appointed director for so long is why we have so much confusion. Running any agency needs to be done with a purpose, and knowing that every director was only "acting" and really let all the separate divisions of ATF spin into their own worlds too much. Jones was the District Attorney for the US court in Minnesota before he was tapped to lead ATF. That's a big step up in responsibility, not to mention management and focus areas that he may not have been ready for. It was probably a combination of not being able to reasonably control such a bureaucratic monster and lack of results in initiatives from the Attorney General and/or the President that brought this on.1 point

"Former" directors don't have to worry about being called up before Congress to testify in hearings about ridiculous ammo bans. They "no longer represent the agency", so they can't speak for them.1 point

Honestly, I believe that the 'green tip' ban is a way for the ATF to put out feelers. If banning that ammo succeeds, they will start looking to ban any and all ammo that could, potentially penetrate soft body armor. Of course, given the 'right' circumstances and testing protocols their results could likely include at least some varieties of pretty much every medium to high powered rifle ammo and likely some handgun ammo, as well. It won't matter if such ammo has ever actually been used to shoot a cop and defeated body armor or not. As I mentioned in another thread, I seem to remember the late and not lamented Teddy Kennedy pushing to get some varieties of 30-30 ammo banned because they could defeat soft body armor. Think about that - a firearm, usually a lever action rifle, that is likely viewed by most non-gunners as one of the most 'benign' of the deer rifles and some jackhole has already tried banning at least some varieties of ammo it uses.1 point
