  1. The wife stopped by today.  She was gonna pick something I been after, waiting....waiting....waiting, she finally asked the guy behind the counter if this is where you check out.  He said I'll be right with you.  He WAS with another customer after all.  The other customer was 'shopping' and we all know that takes time because men in gun shop are ten times worse than a woman in a show store.  The customer was nice and said, I'm in no hurry, gesturing that he should ring up what she was buying, it would only take a second anyway.  Well, he didn't and she waited, and waited.  NOT the only guy behind the counter mind you.     Finally an older guy made his way across the shop and took care of her.    Maybe I'm making more out of it than I should but it should NOT take 20+++ minutes to buy anything that requires no paperwork.  Especially with multiple employees and more than one cash register.     Here's a bit of business advice for everyone, Paying customers should never wait in a line that doesn't exist.  If you're running a business, you're there to make money, not have a social gathering.  If you currently have more employees than customers on the floor, THERE IS NO WAITING IN LINE.

  2. So far so good, I defleshed the head taking off as much soft tissue as I could get out. Lesson learned, make sure the pot is hot enough. I wasted a few hours bathing it instead of simmering, but it went faster when the heat was turned up. The most difficult area was in the nose cavity, at first I tried to save as much bone as I could but there is so much tissue in there that I finally just pulled out a few of the thinner rollpin looking bones. I was worried about the nose ridge and the roof of his mouth because of how thin they are but they it came out OK. Here is a pic of after the defleshing and one with the peroxide cream doing its thing. Edit: Figured I would add the completed mount

  7. I've stopped in at Royal a few times for accessories and ammo. I've been happy with their prices, selection, and haven't been disappointed in the service. Plus the facility itself is super nice. I did have to wait a few minutes to get some SD ammo, but it wasn't for more than about 5 minutes.   That said, if they are reading TGO, one piece of advice might be to have someone at the register for non-gun purchases. They have a ton of ammo, gear, and accessories. Buying that stuff is more like a regular shopping experience. I want to fill up my basket and go to the cashier and be on my way. I don't really need a personal attendant like when purchasing a firearm. But if I have to wait for a staff member to finish with a firearm sale, that does kind of slow down an otherwise straight-forward transaction.

  10.   Well I guess we can count on them never advertising on TGO since they can count on us to use the power of the Internet to slam them for taking care of one customer instead of taking care of another customer.   I mean, after all it doesn't sound like they were socializing and just ignoring you.  It sounds like they had a customer at the counter, no matter if the other customer told them to go ahead or not.   Guns aren't low-dollar sales.  Walking away from a customer on the cusp of making a large purchase can give that customer all the opportunity he or she needs to embrace indecision, talk themselves out of it, and take their money somewhere else.  Ask anyone who works on commission and they'll tell you that you don't do that.   I think as consumers we've all become pretty damn whiney.  We expect instant service, unlimited selections, and for retailers to kiss our butts while making shoestring margins, and there's hell to pay for a company's reputation on the Internet if they don't deliver all of it with a smile in 30-minutes or less.   For what it's worth, I have spoken with Royal Range recently about becoming an advertiser on TGO.  We really need advertisers.  We don't have near as many now as we once did and that really cuts into our operating capital.  I'm sure if they read this thread, it'll weigh into their decision to support TGO.  Any why the heck shouldn't it?

  11. I think imported guns have the best chance of increasing in value and becoming collectible, like Saiga 12s and AKM variants.  An import ban one day is a very real possibility. It's already been done with China, and history repeats itself you can count on that.  There will be more American-made AKMs as the supply of the foreign ones becomes finite, and the foreign AKs will command a premium.

  13. I'm gonna go with idiot hunter who just gets a kick out of killing aomething. I know the type. If they go deer hunting and don't kill a deer they will look for other stuff just to kill something. I'm all for hunting for food, and I'm ok with trophy hunting big game. But killing just to kill is sadistic and wasteful. Sent from behind the anvil

  15.   You didn't address any of the things I brought up in the post you quoted.  You simply defaulted to "I just think you're wrong because (enter irrational emotion here)".   First, how can you reconcile your statement regarding suspicious behavior being subjective just after you say in your "opinion" the behavior isn't worth reporting?  If it's subjective like you say, then some folks find certain indicators more suspicious than you do.  That doesn't make them bad or as you stated, "snitches".  I wish there were more "snitches" that came forward regarding the over 20 hijackers involved on 9/11.  There were some, but there wasn't enough coordination between intelligence agencies, nor were there enough "snitches" that came forward to help put the pieces of the puzzle together.  There were plenty of people after 9/11 who had contact with the terrorists who believed something was amiss.  Like you, they didn't want to be "snitches".   I wish there were more "snitches" prior to the massacre in San Bernardino.  As this investigation progresses, I can assure you it will come out that there were many people who had concerns, but failed to report for reasons you cited.  You've yet to develop a cogent argument regarding "snitching" being more harmful to the safety, security, or rights of American citizens than keeping your mouth shut and minding your own business.  Simply stating that "we can't trust the government no matter what, because they will develop their own narrative (paraphrase)" is absolutely ridiculous.  Just because the possibility exists that they could do that, or even that they have in some cases, is not a viable argument against reporting something suspicious.  It just isn't, and you're being obtuse regarding that, as is exampled by your failure to address any of the points in my previous post and retorting by comparing me to a "crabby old grandma" and stating that if I don't believe your nonsense that I am "lying to myself".  That isn't a rational nor fact based response to my points.  It's simply a display of your intellectual dishonesty.

  19. I will try to give an AAR to the best of my ability give this was my first class. I was very pleased. Started with the dry fire drills and it was immediately clear that I was behind the curve. I was the only one there with a hammer fired weapon, my Smith 4513TSW. Randy was very knowledgeable and patient. He did however threaten to cut off my finger if I kept putting it on the front of the trigger guard, need to work on this. The host's farm was beautiful and easy to find. The first half of the day was spent doing the dry fire drills then after lunch we loaded up. Lunch was good but the diner took a bit to get our orders to us and that ate into our afternoon, but we got it all done. Met several great guys, most of which are father along on their education than I am. They say the longest journey begins with the first step. Thanks again Randy, you will see me agin-Bill Allen

  26.   Careful there... It looses effectiveness over time and frequently is manufactured with contaminants, e.g. not quite up for human consumption. I've read some stuff that gets deep into the chemistry, but long story short, it's not the cheap panacea it would seem. While effective, there are risks, and it's not a long-term storage option. Replace annually, or look into other options.

  27.   Unfortunately no. Stands for Registered Receiver           There are basically 2 classes of MG if your not spiting hairs 1) Factory built MG: most popular Colt M16A1, etc 2) Pre 1986 anyone could build a MG just like you can make a SBR today: They could have been built them like this, and I'll split hairs a)  Factory RR: another gun manufacture could buy a stripped lowers from someone else, machine them and restamp with their name and S#. I have a Factory RR, its a Frankfort Arsenal on a Olympic Lower, Olympic seamed to be the most popular lower used back then, a lot of low end manufactures back in the 80's made their stuff usually out of spec, including my gun.  RR anyone (individual, gun shop, etc) could take a regular complete gun or stripped lower, machine it "if" needed, drill the evil 3rd hole or use a DIAS.

  28. Take it how you want, I found the piece and got a good feeling from reading this part   "a tear-streaked Obama was marched into the Senate Chamber.  A disheveled and clearly unhappy Chief Justice and the Senate immediately began articles of impeachment against the President for “high crimes and misdemeanors” resulting from his failed attempt to undermine the Constitution."

  35. Just an update on the rail fitment.... So I moved the old rail back to my Colt LE 6920 after I got the new Troy MRF-C 7 inch finally. When I went to install the rail last night, it would not fit together. I looked and the top half of rail was sitting on the XLP gas block and needed to come down to be level. So I had to break out the Dremel, take a sandpaper roll and remove material in the area around the gas block. Just taking the roll and placing it between the valley where the gas tube normally runs to trim back the corners on each side gave me the clearance I needed to fit the gas block. I also noticed when trying to install the rail that my drive rod, the part that holds the spring and rests on the barrel nut, had a mark where it looked like it made contact with the rail when I was trying to install it. So I again took out the Dremel and clearanced an area from the barrel nut forward (just enough) to be sure no contact was made there. Afterward, i got it all back together and everything fit and had plenty of clearance. I just wanted to get that out there so you all would know before you got the Troy rail, that it will need a small amount of clearance to work to fit under the Adams Arms XLP gas block. Mega Pistol build is DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  37. The president cannot make a law ending private sales of firearms.  Private sales are addressed in the US code.  To change that, you need Congress to pass a bill and president to sign it into law.  The president can look into an executive order but that doesn't mean he can make an executive order that is binding over the US code.
