  2. My solution... If I'm not happy with the color match, then I guess I'll just have to buy another stripped lower until I get a good match. I've actually learned this from my wife. If her shoes are not the right shade, then what's a girl to do? Likewise, if my lower/upper are not the right shade of black, then I gotta do what I gotta do ;) She has her own AR, so don't tell her I said that :nervous:

  3. Wipe them clean and then fill them with technical info.  Manuals, load data, schematics ANYTHING you know you cannot remember but would be invaluable WTSHTF.  Then buy a cheap solar charger...actually, buy two or three cheap solar chargers.

  4. I wondered the same thing... If I build out of parts how will I match finish? I don’t believe in painting guns and who wants to build a new gun and then pay to have everything refinished?

  6. I went through and set every one of the loaded cartridges on end on the table and then pulled out any that wobbled at all.  Some were really bad and were obviously wrong primers, some were not as noticeable, but for cautions sake I pulled them anyway.  From what I can tell, I used 53 Large Magnum Rifle primers and I have pulled out 90 rounds that showed any degree of wobble, so I think the chances are pretty good that I got them all.  90 is still a lot to disassemble, but it is much better than roughly 400.  I guess I know what I am doing all evening.  I was really hoping I would get to disassemble them the fun way tonight instead.

  9. Great advice already given.   Don't beat yourself up Preacher. Anyone that handloads will make mistakes eventually. We simply have to learn from them. And I definitely believe you'll be more diligent in the future. I've blown a Glock 21 with a double charge of W231 over 15 years ago. (Glock replaced the gun btw...Great customer service!). I learned to alter my process and setup, increased my already anal-retentive QC process, and I don't hesitate to pull apart any cartridge I might even begin to doubt for whatever reason...just part of practicing a safe handloading process.   At least you realized it before you had an accident my friend. I have my "handloading eraser" aka kinetic bullet puller handy on my bench...just in case. :nervous:   Patton nailed it as far as checking though. But if you have any serious doubts or concerns, just pull 'em and start over.   I've used 10's of thousands of magnum pistol primers in making 9mm rounds. The velocity increase is marginal when I've chrono'ed them, and no signs of increased pressure. But that is pistol...not rifle. The height of the rifle might even potentially bind a revolver cylinder depending on the tolerances...but I don't know this from personal experience.   We live and learn Preacher. So pick up that towel and get back to work!

  10. If it were all small primers it wouldn't matter, but the large are different. You should be able to run your finger across the rim and feel a slight bulge where it feels like the primer isn't seated all the way. Large rifle primers are taller than large pistol primers.

  12. Very much in thought and prayer...   We just found out that our youngest Cavalier Lou Lou (she is 7ish) has the onset of glaucoma and will need some drops for her eyes for the remainder of her years... Hopefully it is something I can find via other source than the local vet as it is like 40+ for a tiny vial. Our oldest Cavalier Ruby is 10+ and has a tiny heart murmur but I can't see putting her on lifelong meds as she shows no systems to speak of and her quality of life is very/very good; you can see that in her eyes and actions... Our middle child Bella well she has just been a special and odd girl all her life....   Don't know what I would do without anyone of our 3 stooges...

  16. I have a Competition Electronics Prochrono and love that little sucker.   As a matter of fact I used it this morning out at ORSA...overcast, cloudy and shortly before a torrential downpour... worked great.   Here's a link to one at Midway, very fair price imho.   http://ads.midwayusa.com/product/113204/competition-electronics-prochrono-pal-chronograph?cm_mmc=pf_ci_google-_-Shooting+-+Chronographs%2C+Wind+Meters+%26+Timers-_-Competition+Electronics-_-113204&gclid=CKzR1Zj768sCFdgBgQodPdsI6w

  22. I'm specifically talking about in the event of being pulled over. When I was a LEO there were no laptops or such in the patrol cars. In Missouri where I was a LEO they changed the DL number to your SS number. I doubt they still do that since your DOB was also on your license which would facilitate identity theft, but back then if a person could prove who they were with their SSN and answer other questions then I wouldn't write them for forgetting their wallet.   The simple fix to this would be an endorsement on you DL: problem solved.

  25. Any sign that was conforming (pretty much any sign), will still be conforming until 2018. My rule of thumb is any sign I see is legal because I understand the property owner’s intent. If I don’t see it; it probably isn’t legal under any version of the law.

  27. The difference between a magnum and regular primer isn't going to kaboom a gun with any load. I think you will have more problems because they are the wrong size. But, because they are the wrong size, you can find them and disassemble them.

  31. Unless the Vendor is irrefutably guilty of unethical or illegal business practices and that information has been shared with the TGO Staff first and we believe that there is legitimate cause for concern to protect the members at large, I honestly don't want to hear a bunch of complaints about the Vendor no matter who they are.   If you're in business, you are going to piss off someone or hurt someone's feelings sooner or later.  You might not get to a customer in your store fast enough to suit them.  You might not provide the sort of discount or price that suits them.  You might not provide the sort of "customer service experience" that suits them.  They might just not like the way you look, smell, talk, or dress.  Someone, somewhere, is going to get a stick up their butt about you and then use the Internet to malign you because they think that they have a right to do it.   If a consumer has an individual beef with a Vendor, they should take it up with that Vendor in person.  If they don't have to guts to do that, then I don't want them using TGO as their emotional dumping ground.   Just my thoughts on that matter.

  32. Okay, the black mask around the mirror is the third visor frit, that is to help block the sun where the flip down visor do not cover. It is screen printed onto the windshield, it also completely outlines the windshield and basically the only purpose for the outline is to cover the gaps between the interior panels of the car. As far as the tint it is optional. A typical part number on a windshield would be DW1341GBY, this would indicate it was a Domestic Windshield and the GBY would indicate with tint strip and molding attached. A GTN would indicate no molding attached and no tint strip. They also have different colors. You could order an OEM windshield for a Lexus but then you would have to let them know if it was blue with or without shade, bronze with or without and a few more colors. Then there is always showing up to the customers with an OEM windshield but its wrong because they did not know they had a rain sensor. All's OEM means is who had the contract that year. Ppg and LOF have both had contracts for most all the major mfg and stamp their logo on them. The only other glass mfg that has not ever held one of those contracts is Safelite, therefore if you have a Safelite window it is NOT OEM but it does meet OEM specs. The difference in all of them is the quality control. Sorry if this seems like a rant but I had a customer this week that ordered a windshield for his new F350 and said he wanted a PPG windshield cause he didn't want that foreign crap in his truck so when I got there I showed him the PPG label that said Made In China, then there was the 2 separate jobs that had rain sensors on their windshields but didn't know it. It's funny how people act when they find out they can make the wipers work without having to turn them on everytime after driving them for a couple of years. Oh and I almost forgot the best one. A lady calls me up raising cane about me leaving the molding off of her windshield on her new Camry. I tried to explain to her that it was the way that most vehicles are being made with the raw edge glass and underlay molding and she wouldn't stop so finally I asked her to stop by the Toyota dealer on her way home and check the other Camry's. Can you believe she actually called me that night and apologized. Yes, it's all about the install, if a windshield is bad they will or should come back and replace it. If its a bad install it maybe months or years before you find the irreversible damage that was done. Don't be afraid to ask questions, even if they are stupid ones and don't be afraid to stay and watch. I always invite every customer to stay and watch and ask questions. It's when they think they need to help is the problem.

  36. I guess I'm a bit late to this party, but I do have a couple. I'm partial to the U.S. guns. :usa: Get your paperwork together and make a little road trip to the CMP South Store in Anniston, Ala. There you can pick and choose from what they have in the store and take it home right then. The staff is extremely helpful and will loan you bore and chamber gauges to help you make a selection. That's what I did and have never regretted it. Come on now. The paperwork isn't that difficult, you get to pick your own rifle, you know its in good condition and its not that far of a drive from anywhere in Tennessee. Not to mention that it'll save a at minimum a several hundred over what you might find locally. CMP Garands won't last much longer. The supply is running out. The time to get one is NOW. ;)

  41. A J-Frame Smith either OWB or pocket carry. I have had several of my fellow HCP holders explain to me that I stand no chance against the ISIS battle group that inevitably assaults my neighborhood Walmart. Whereas, they with their neato double column semi-autos will be able to save the day by taking out the entire ISIS organization with two extra magazines of 9MM. This is based on their combat experience at some neat school at some pistol range. I spent a total of 60 months in combat in VietNam (4 Tours) with the USMC so I am in no position to question their superior logic. I only need 5 shots to shoot the dumb SOB that goes looking for me and finds my hiding place.

  42. Sig Mosquito has a terrible double action trigger and there is little you can do about it.  The Mosquito, at best, is a soda can plinker that can prove to be very picky ammo wise.  The only guy I know who knows how to get the Mosquito trigger decent is some dude known as Mississippi Dave on rimfirecentral.com.  I have worked on 2 Mosquitos just for the education and I will never do that again.     It is a clamshell design and whoever sold Sig that bill of goods sure pulled the wool over a company that typically produces true Tier 1 guns.  I wouldn't buy a Mosquito with other peoples' money, I consider it that bad.   The Ruger MK series has been out since 1949 with relatively minor changes over the decades.  The MK series is a Tier 1 pistol that when you replace the sear, trigger and extractor and install an ergonomic grip and maybe kiss the crown will give you a pistol that can win you matches against pistols costing 3 times as much or don't replace those parts and run about a million rounds through that pistol.     The Sig Mosquito is not in the same class as the Ruger.  Now are there have been good Sig .22s? Sure, the Hammerli made Trailside, which I used to own, was so underrated that it is now sold for 2.5x it sold for as the Sig Trailside, now as the Hammerli Xesse.  The GSG made, Sig 1911, is a nice beer can plinker.  I had a Sig 220 Single Action Target Elite in .22lr and it was an OK pistol.   But if you want to spend your hard earned money on a Mosquito....

  43. Go Ruger. I love Sigs, but a Mosquito is only good if you run CCI Mini Mags all of the time. They are way too ammo picky.
