  1. First off let me say thanks to all of you that offered up a prayer for my daughter. She completed all her chemo a couple weeks ago and had her double mastectomy yesterday. She's home resting and her mother is there to watch over things for about a month. She is deemed "cancer free" in that all her lymph node biopsies came back negative and of course her lump is gone as well. She still has some localized radiation treatments after she heals from surgery but for now everything is lookin' good.

  2. Matilda and Venus. Our Great Dane and our step dog. Venus belongs to my step daughter Timmy, our 7-9 year old part Dane rescue with Matilda Timmy and Matilda competing for Mama's attention. Don't mess with Mama, they don't like that. Timmy is 140lbs of attitude, he knows what you tell him, he just decides if and when he will do it. Matilda is 3 years old, covid dog, she sleeps between us. Venus is a big round ball of chicken. the pic of her laying with Matilda is because she couldn't get out of the corner.

  3. Thank you all for sharing the pics of your pups! Just a quick post before I head in to work a bit. Good on you @A.J. Holst ! Awesome helper you’ve got. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Boo before and can confidently say she is a “Good Girl”, but I would not want to get on her bad-side. My pups, 2 sets of Pekingese (Bastian & Lil then Buckley & Grace) over a 25 year period are in Heaven guarding my Bride. But I know Rhonda has her hands full with them! Entitled little devils but they gave us a lot of love in their time. (My son just sent this pic to me after I told him about my vicarious living through it). Thanks again to all! The little guy is Poe. He’s resting on his sister Nala. Nala is a squirrel killer. Poe couldn’t be bothered with such.

  4. I had at least one dog in my life since age 6 and most of them were or are rescue dogs. The last 2 where some type of terriers which 1 of them I had for 18 years and she was rescued by me from a big wild yellow Tomcat that had stole her from a litter somewhere and was going to make a meal of it until a 22lr ended that. Animal control had been trying to trap it without success so when I had the chance I took it and I thought it had a rat but it turned out to be a newborn puppy that I ended up bottle feeding and buying doggie milk at 10 bucks a can which the Vet set me up with all the stuff I needed. I had animal control come out and collect the dead cat and all their cage traps they had set around my house. The guy thanked me for killing the cat as he was getting complaints from everyone in the neighborhood about it. I named her Kasey and I had her for 18 years and lost her to heart failure. It was like losing a Child and I still have her on top of my TV console. I had her cremated and placed in an urn. About 3 months a friend of mine brought a dog to me that could have been Kasey's sister in appearance and he had to find a home for her because he was moving and the new place didn't allow pets. Her name was Darby and I took her in. I only had her about 3 years and lost her to kidney Failure and I have her on my TV console also. Now for present time I have a best friend name Rosie and my daughter was doing Home Health Care and one of her patients was a breeder of Basset Hounds and she had a 5 year old that she could no longer breed and was going to have her put down and my daughter sent me a picture of her and I told her to get her so she told the woman that her father was Rosie so they made arrangements to get her to me. I still have her and she is now almost 8 years old and spoiled rotten.

  5. This is Cody, my baby. 105 pounds of rotten to the core. In the second picture he's helping me with my building project. Well, more like supervising. The most talkative feller I've ever had. Plus, he's a promising contender for the World Title of King of the Belly Rub. In my world there has never been a more loved and protected dog. I call him my son.

  6. This is Gypsy the Wonder Dog, dressed up for Christmas. She turned 8 this July. People frequently ask what breed she is, and I tell them with confidence she's a purebred brown dog. There's surely a good bit of Doberman heritage there, but it's mixed with some other stuff. Cheers, Whisper

  9. I looked and there are a few threads about a member's dog(s) here and there, but I was surprised that we don't have ONE big thread of all the doggos on TGO. So, let's fix that. ^^^ This is Tiberias, or Tigh for short. Yeah Tigh is spelled weird but I'm also a Battlestar Galactica nerd and fans of the show will recall that the XO of the Galactica was named Tigh. Anyway, he's a pure bred German Shepherd Dog and currently 4-months old. He was a rescue and we were fortunate to be called this past Monday and asked if we wanted to come get him. And yes, we most certainly did. Tigh is proving himself to be the goodest boy possible. Super loving, super loyal, and also already very protective of his new house and his new pack. We're thrilled to have him. So, so me your dogs!

  10. This is Sully, he is kind of a turd but my wife and kiddos really like him. He wasn't getting along at his first home with the resident German Shepherd so my wife agreed to keep him for a few days to help a friend out. That was 6 yrs ago.

  11. This is Koira. We kinda inherited her from my youngest daughter who, during a rough spot, was unable to care for her. Now she's a part of the family for sure and thinks she's Queen. VERY loyal and loving dog, probably the most so I've ever seen. She's very attached (almost neurotically) to my wife, but likes me ok too. I think she's around 5 years old.

  13. Here's my lot... Duchess and Winchester. We lost Ruger ,our Black male, in October and are still dealing with it. He was with us for 12 years and our pack is not the same. UPDATE Duchess went to join Ruger last Monday night. She lost her battle with bone cancer. Pain and sorrow are not what I wanted this year. She is at rest now....... I look forward to being with them when I get home to the Lord.

  14. This was our 120 pound lab. The wife said no dog in the house and absolutely not on the furniture, yet here he is. He passed at only 3 years old from cancer. It's been a a couple of years, but still not ready to replace him, he was a good one.

  15. This is Ellie. A bit neurotic at times but a good dog.

  16. This is Shadow, aka the galloping goober. 100lbs of dumb. He'll be 4 on Valentines day. His dad is a black lab and mom is a boutique big terrier. Their owners (friends from kids' school) didn't think mom was old enough yet and went on vacation. He has 12 siblings.

  17. This is Ginger. She's a rescue so not sure of her breed but in her mind she is a Doberman. Lol. She's had surgery on both knees, one eye removed and surgery on her other eye. But she's worth every dime as she is the best dog I've ever had. Great thread.

  20. Well….. I picked up the beat up old ‘54 336 RC that I want to turn into a trapper on Friday. It’s actually not that bad. All the numbers match and the stock is in better shape than I first thought. But an hour ago, I won an auction for a three digit serial number 1972 Marlin 1985 (first year of the re-issue). So my trifecta of Marlin big bores (.375 Win, .444 Marlin, and 45-70) is now complete. The 1972 1895 has Ballard rifling instead of the usual MicroGroove rifling.

  21. Yeah, not so much a squirrel dog as she is a mole dog.She will chase about anything though.I was bush hogging in the field this summer and she saw a doe and a fawn, she chased them in the woods. About 5 seconds later here she came out of the woods flying at a very high speed with the doe in hot pursuit right on her butt. Funniest thing I’ve ever seen!

  25. Bama did what they do. Was a good game to watch but it is what it is. That game also marked the end of an era. It was the last SEC game to be broadcast on CBS. Even if Gary Danielson is getting as senile as old Verne Lundquist was, I’m gonna miss their broadcasts. Just wish Nessler would do a better job of correcting Gary, lol.

  26. I've had an 85UL for some time and it's been great. It has a better trigger than stock Ruger and S&W's I've had. Traded the springs for Wolff springs and it got even better. One of the best DA revolver triggers I've ever held. That being said, I've held other Taurus revolvers that weren't close, so maybe I got a unicorn but it's a good one!

  27. So, @Worriedman would it be helpful if people WOULD do the survey (even if they can't understand the weird wording) as long as they are answering "STRONGLY DISAGREE" to each question? I came to the "strongly disagree" conclusion when I read the questions & realized any other answer allows them to interpret it as me supporting 2nd amendment/due process infringement, even a little,...and I don't.

  30. My experiences in the past mimic those already shared, kinda hit or miss. I still have a model 85 from 1987 that's has really nice bluing and a good DA trigger. I've only owned 1-2 others. I'm hopeful for Taurus going forward because I think I would like an 856 Toro RDS capable revolver. But definitely as a holster carried sidearm. Patiently waiting to see how those do over a bit of time. Taurus hired Caleb Giddings as their General Marketing Manager a short while back and Caleb is a shooter and has been very responsive and accessible to customers on other forums (Pistol-Forums). I've read good things from 856 owners the past several months as well. Glad to read you had a decent experience with your @JustEd.

  32. “No matter how little money and how few possessions you own, having a dog will make you rich.” Good on you. I say that to myself every time I swipe monthly at the vet. Worth every penny and then some.

  33. Oh man. I can relate to that. We had two of our dogs pass away within weeks of each about 6 years ago and it really left a mark. We've had a few more since then, but this guy is the first I've really let myself get emotionally attached to. Go ahead and post pictures of your Shih Tzus if you have any. There's nothing wrong with remembering past pets here!

  35. I have not got on the bandwagon concerning Red Dot Sights on handguns. I have seen trainers, good ones, hunt for the dot in demonstrations, while using them. If you are interested in learning about them, Pros and Cons, google "What Ken Hakathorn says about Red Dot Sights". it is very informative. His opinion, at self-defense distances 7-10 yards, one most probably will be served better by iron sights. Interesting video if you are on the fence.

  36. This is a general warning to multiple parties here. Not specifically directed at you. So to anyone reading this thread, if you read that guidance and think it may be directed at you, it is. If you think it is only directed at you, it ain’t.

  37. Might sound a little odd but I would love to get an M3 grease gun. I just like the way they chug along in full auto. I’d also want proper open bolt and SBR versions of some of the sub guns I have. Long barrel versions of the Thompson and PPSH just don’t look right.

  39. He knows what we think, he carried the Civil Immunity bill, I work with him all the time. He is trying to get metrics to push back against the RINOS that are in charge. He has been shown the data that there are no contrary to the gun grabbers responses, meaning all of Tennessee is in favor of more gun control. If you cannot discern how to answer the questions, (strongly disagree) I guess we are truly doomed. The other side will show all their buds answers and there will be an insignificant amount of push back.

  40. Older model US made stainless Beretta 92sf. Picked up from a coworker that inherited it from his father in law. Was supposed to be unfired until then. He said he put 400 rounds thru it since. Gun comes with 2 mags, original plastic box, and original cardboard outer box. Looking for $650 or trade. I like JM marlins, hunting rifles especially with threaded barrels, 9mm threaded hosts, 357/38 levergun or ????

  43. Yep, that's the same questionnaire that other guy posted a couple of weeks ago. There was a long thread on it. Vague questions with vague answers. Many forum members had doubts as some responses could be twisted for anti-gun purposes. Plus nobody ever heard of this group before. There's some serious trust issues here. Some folks answered, I didn't.
