  1. This is the kind of men our President says is unfit for duty and is forcing them into early retirement     I think that this Marine could make a good president...We need more of these guys...not less.  16 best quotes from Gen. James Mattis, who retired on 22 May 2013 after 41 years of service.      BY: Washington Free Beacon Staff   Gen. James Mattis, known to his troops as “Mad Dog Mattis,” is retiring after 41 years of military service.  The Marine Corps Times is calling Mattis the “most revered Marine in a generation.”   Mattis has been commander of the United States Central Command since 2010 and led the 1st Marine Division into Iraq in 2003.   According to reports, President Barack Obama decided to force the Marine Corps legend out early because he rubbed civilian officials the wrong way, and forced them to answer tough questions regarding Iran.   Mattis was an inspirational leader of men and his powerful words will go down in history.   Here are some of the best words that the “Mad Dog” has had to offer:   1. “I don’t lose any sleep at night over the potential for failure.  I cannot even spell the word.”   2. “The first time you blow someone away is not an insignificant event.  That said, there are some a$$holes in the world that just need to be shot.”   3. “I come in peace.  I didn’t bring artillery.  But I’m pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you screw with me, I will kill you all.”   4. “Find the enemy that wants to end this experiment (in American democracy) and kill every one of them until they’re so sick of the killing that they leave us and our freedoms intact.” 5. “Marines don’t know how to spell the word defeat.” 6. “Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet.”   7. “The most important six inches on the battlefield is between your ears.”   8. “You are part of the world’s most feared and trusted force.  Engage your brain before you engage your weapon.”   9. “There are hunters and there are victims.  By your discipline, cunning, obedience and alertness, you will decide if you are a hunter or a victim.”   10. “No war is over until the enemy says it’s over.  We may think it over, we may declare it over, but in fact, the enemy gets a vote.”   11. “There is nothing better than getting shot at and missed.  It’s really great.”   12. “You cannot allow any of your people to avoid the brutal facts.  If they start living in a dream world, it’s going to be bad.” 13. “You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn’t wear a veil.  You know, guys like that ain’t got no manhood left anyway.  So it’s a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them.  Actually it’s quite fun to fight them, you know.  It’s a hell of a hoot.  It’s fun to shoot some people.  I’ll be right up there with you.  I like brawling.”   14. “I’m going to plead with you, do not cross us.  Because if you do, the survivors will write about what we do here for 10,000 years.”   15. “Demonstrate to the world there is ‘No Better Friend, No Worse Enemy’ than a U.S. Marine.”   16. “Fight with a happy heart and strong spirit”  And one final quote for returning Veterans: Anybody surprised Obama forced this guy to retire early?  Oooorah!!!

  2. I would rather take a chance on someone I don't know than vote for a politician I know will not represent me. I am tired of those who are supposed to represent me not doing their job. Right now the only difference between most democrats and republicans is the letter next to their names. And being a career politician is worse than being a democrat or republican.

  4. Thanks for the concern. We are currently about 250 miles from Las Vegas. We are actually in Two Gun, AZ sitting out 50mph crosswinds. Still have plenty of time to make it in less than 48, so we are being cautious. On a side note, we made the first 1k in 16 hrs. And I don't think I'm stupid ..... ;)

  5. Interesting. With that serial number with an “S” prefix it is a 1945-1948 M&P. But that would make it Post war. Since it is stamped “Made in USA” that makes it a pre-war; unless the other side has the full 4 line S&W markings.   To be a 1952 S series it would have to be an “N frame”. That doesn't look like an N-frame; is it that big?

  6. You should be able to fire it.  Powder doesn't become more explosive over time.  I would put a primer in it and let it fly.  If it was damp at all it may not fire and be careful of a hang fire, but if it has been in a dry area, I don't think anything bad will happen.   I did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express, so do so at your own peril, but seriously, I would probably just shoot it.

  9. Eh... I mean, to be fair they could have just as easily posted a headline saying that Obama is a bi-sexual wrestler.  I didn't see any hard facts in either of those articles.  Just accusations.   Is it plausible?  Well, duh.  But it's also plausible that it's a smear campaign because they're not happy with the Obama Administration.  And I'm not even a fan-boy.

  10. After 20 days of waiting, my Swedish Mauser finally came!!! I thought I'd share my excitement by uploading a few pictures. Keep in mind that I have not cleaned her up yet. Oh, look at that wood! How can something this old look so hot?! The crown jewels! It's stamped EVERYWHERE... That action is so smooth! Hopefully this is the original brass plate, but I don't know how to tell... Hopefully you enjoyed those few pictures of this Swedish babe.... I'm by no means an expert, so if anybody knows the approximate retail value (MSRP) for this particular specimen, I'd gladly appreciate it... I know how much I paid for it, and I think I got a good deal, but I'm not 100% positive yet. I tried to get a picture of the bore, but I couldn't get my camera to focus on all of the rifling at once and it always came out blurry. The bore has no pitting, but the rifling is strong and she needs a good cleaning before I shoot it. Thanks for looking!

  13.    I myself and two younger sisters were home schooled, the youngest never attended public school the next attended public school until 3rd grade and I home schooled through high school. What you say is right, while I don't know if you would consider them lobbyist, home school parents can make themselves very annoying to any person(s) that try to interfere with their way of doing things. There is absolutely no logical or legitimate reason for anyone to ever bother home schoolers, they score exceptionally high throughout elementary and high school and a very very large percentage go on not only to attend college but score very high marks. The only reason any citizen or lawmaker ever has had or ever will have for harassing home school families is that they don't have that extra control over them. I've heard some normally very conservative people state that they cannot find anything wrong with what common core teaches but I say they are very short sighted because it's not what is currently common core but rather what it's going to have in it. Like someone else mentioned above, if they can get their hooks sunk in good over the next year or two, within 10yrs there will be a mandate that you must comply in order to attend a state college and they will find a way to diminish the value of any  college not requiring the same. My wife and I do not have children yet but were already trying to figure out a way to ensure that they can attend private school. It makes me sick knowing that we HAVE to pay taxes that go straight towards the indoctrination of children even if mine are in private school. I'm not saying that in a 'i'm paying for private school so I shouldn't have to pay that tax' kinda way but rather a 'I don't want to contribute to the indoctrination of others children' kinda way. The whole thing is disgusting.

  16. The good news... he's cooking his own goose, and taking a bunch of his libtard friends along for the ride. His ego is letting him make a huge mistake with the gun control tirade. The polls don't support it, but he keeps going. Let him say all the stupid #### he can muster. If there's ever gonna be another purge like '94, he's doing exactly what I want him to do.   BTW... there's no question in the minds of my 400+ facebook friends where I stand, and a whole lot of them are Libs.

  18.   Biggest waste of money this Government ever made!!!  We should have learned our lesson back during prohibition.  But there is too much money in it for all the different LE Organizations at the Federal, State and Local level for it to ever be allowed to just go away.  Their Lobbyists will see to that.  I hate Washington and I'm really starting to agree with Mike.357 on what my vote means, which is exactly squat.

  19. Classic M&P, great gun but there are a lot like it. If it is mint but no box it's worth about $450ish, even though it's not for sale.

  20. Then you have an oddity, that frame should have the 4 line “Marcas Registradas” makings. I have no idea if that makes it worth more, but I would find out.
    1 point
  21. Definitely a pre-model 10 postwar manufactured M&P.  The frame could be actual war-time production, thus the Made in USA instead of 4 line Marcas Registradas.  They made many of these during the war for military use and had a lot of frames left over at the end.

  22. If it was made in 1952 that's probably before S&W started using model numbers and it was called the M&P model.  In the late fifties they called it the Model 10. Looks like it's in good shape.

  23. Tanker, I will also point out that the franchise was not nearly as universal initially as you make it sound. Initially the franchise was restricted to white, landowning males above the age of 21. Non land owners in got the vote prior to Lincoln's War, Blacks got the vote in increments from the 1860s to 1960s, women in the 1920s and 18-20 year olds in 71. There is a very strong case to be made that as the franchise was expanded to those without real skin in the game, the deterioration of the country accelerated.

  24. I don't know......there are bad apples in every profession. Surely anything said about LE on TGO reflecting the bad apples would not be taken as a negative about the good cops that do their jobs. I'm sure some of them know the ones, or some that act like the ones, being viewed in a negative light. If the shoe don't fit, then why have a problem with it? If it does fit and an LEO sees his or her self in the negative post, then maybe a personal re-evaluation and adjustment is in order. I don't understand how this is a bad thing. I will abide by the rules of the house in any event.

  39. Had to go get my 6 month scan in Murfreesboro today, so I took a sick day and enjoyed the rest of the day. Ran out to check out my stand, all 50 pounds of corn GONE!   Ground all tore up even where I hadn't had corn put out. Lots of tracks in and out of the area, no rubs, but I know there are bucks in the area from my friends game cam 100 yards from my stand. Picked up a heavier duty bow hanger at Academy on the way out and put it up, and moved the old one to the other side of the tree for my backpack to hang on. Boys, we are a week away!!!!

  40. It's also wise to hide your religion from people, not speak out about injustices committed by your own government, and say nothing negative about a possible war you feel is wrong....  Wait, maybe I have that wrong :)   If that manager saw 20 or 30 customers a day carrying openly, he'd get sick and tired of asking them if they had an HCP....  it would become obvious after a couple of weeks that only law abiding citizens wear holsters and carry their firearms in plain view and he'd think nothing of it.     There are possible downsides that have to be accounted for when open carrying (weapons retention for example), but worrying about irrational fears of sheeple shouldn't be one of them.

  41. Allright, tried the memory stick pull and restart, still crashed.  For all those saying go to safe mode, it won't.  I've tried safe mode, safemode with networking, safemode with command prompt.  Even boot logging, won't go.  It won't start off the DVD drive using the windows installation disk.   Swapped the 4gig mem stick for the 2gig secondary so its got to be in the boot cache but i tried the option of last known good configuration.  Vid card seems fine.  When I run diagnostics it looks fine, mouse works.  I just need a way to get to the command prompt.    How do I get a command prompt off a usb or disk.  I can burn or copy to either on my wife's machine I'm using now.

  42. While I am sometimes disturbed by trends I see in law enforcement or by the actions of an individual officer, I have the utmost respect for anyone who chooses a career of public service. Particularly in a field where they risk life and limb on a daily basis.    It has been my experience here in TN that every LEO that I've dealt with has been professional, courteous and fully supportive of second amendment rights. I'm sure there are exceptions, but I haven't met them.    So, from the bottom of my heart, I thank each and every one of you who have made the choice to serve as an LEO, Soldier or first responder of any stripe. I've seen the good work you do and I appreciate the sacrifices you and your families make for your community and your country. God Bless each and every one of you.

  44. Love to hunt horns. I've never hunted high fence areas but have hunted areas where the smaller bucks get a pass. I don't have a problem with that. Would I like to kill a record size deer? Sure. Not going to be in a cage though. Money drives the deer farms and that will never stop. And I could care less. I can't determine what a trophy is for someone else.   We all tend to have the attitude that if it ain't done my way then it must be wrong. I remember when anyone using a crossbow was looked down upon. Now it's just the norm. I don't care if people hunt over bait, use a crossbow, or hunt high fence areas. If it's legal and it floats your boat....go for it.

  46. My personal thoughts are that a POTUS can be any race, religion, orientation or whatever floats his boat provided he serves the people, is faithful to the United States Constitution, and doesn't go around making our global image any weaker than it already is. Obama has done the exact opposite of what a POTUS is supposed to do. I don't dislike him for being Muslim, I hate him for being a POS POTUS.

I hate it when I am sitting around a campfire and some Schmuck pulls out a cell phone or other electronic brain sucking device. The campfire is a tradition and electronic light boxes are the devil. I make it a point now to tell everyone that if they want to sit around my campfire, they will have to leave their "light box" behind. A campfire is for people to talk to each other, express ideas, tell stories, tell jokes. When people get to the point when they cannot do without their "light boxes" then we are doomed. DOOMED I SAY! :pleased:
